Subs <3
Dubs don't cut it for some Anime, there are some things that get lost in translation.

I'll only watch dubs if I'm watching tv and happen to flip to adult swim or some channel showing dubbed Anime, but even if I'm watching Anime from DVDs I always change it to subs.

It depends how difficult the anime is/are (with the special vocab. or not like Ghost Hound), but I will definitely not watching dub unless there's no raw or sub available for the anime (I watch it online).

It doesn't really matter what we want. In the end, you'll just have to be satisfied on what's available. And in that respect, SUB anime wins. That's beside the point, really, but who cares?!

Subbed is superior.
I really have nothing against dubbed anime.
It really receives more hate than it deserves.
I just prefer seeing and hearing things exactly the way they were meant to be.
RAW is even more superior though.

I could only watch dubs for the longest time. For some reason I thought watching stuff subbed would be tiresome and stupid. Then I took a class in college on visual communication and we watched a lot of foreign films that were subs only. I've got to say it's almost like they're speaking your language after you're watching it for more than 5 minutes. I still would rather have dubs (most of the time), but subs are just as good.

I prefer subbed anime. I only watch the dubs when there are no other options, like in TV or when I want to show some anime to my friends.

I would rather watch subbed.. I only watched dubbed off TV when I'm bored, Most dubs just have crap casting who can't put good emotion into the characters.

With almost no exception sub. Unless the series was ment to be released in the US dub usually has the worst voice actors that can be found and just subtract from the show.

I ain't gonna' vote, considering it depends on the series/movie being dubbed. I've heard some excellent dubs, and I've heard some shitty ones. Same goes for the original Japanese voice acting.

I don't really care, I'll watch whatever it comes with or whatever is available, granted the dub isn't infamously bad such as 4Kids OP.

Totally dubbed!! If I can't find the anime dubbed, and really want to see it I'll watch it subbed, but dubbed is so much better. I never find anything wrong with dubs, at least nothing so bad that I'd rather watch the subbed verson. Sure older animes have pretty bad Voice Actors, a lot of censoring, and other bad things(so subs are useally better), but current dubs have great actors, no censoring, and seem fine to me. Older animes I can understand watching in subbed, but the newer ones I find no reason (for me) to watch the subs. Looks like I'm the minority here though...

I watched the Death Note dub on TV lastnight. Given DN is a series I subbed last year, I know it very, very well (watched every episode numerous times while working on them) and... I actually think it's alright. Of all the voices I heard, only Light's bugged me. But being the main char, I guess that is a pretty big down side.

Of course native audio is superior, as always, but DN seems to have been handled fairly well.

The only English dubs I like: Digimon, Pokemon, and Oban Star-Racers. Of course, Oban Star-Racers was created in France, and for Pokemon, I mean just the 4Kids dub, not the one by Pokemon US.

As for the reason why I prefer subs, consider the fact that the first subbed anime I saw was One Piece.

I guess that I'm in the minority here, but I usually prefer to watch anime in a language that I can understand so long as the acting is serviceable (and most recent ones are)

I've always been and always will be a dub fan. Not that I have any issue with the Japanese versions, but I think dubs get too much flak. Sure, not all of them are perfect, but they're not ALL bad. Heck, there's lots of shows that I just can't watch in Japanese because of beautiful animation and good voice actors (any of the Disney-Ghibli movies come to mind). I've found no legitimate reason to hate any American voice actors/actresses, and frankly, I don't want to.

I used to be really hardcore about subs, but lately I've been watching some of my anime dubbed, and I have to admit... it's not so bad. At least from what I've seen. I know there are some shows whose dubs are to be avoided like the plague, but it's like I'm suddenly realizing that this rule doesn't necessarily apply to all dubs.
Though I am still a sub loyalist at heart. It just sounds so natural to hear it in Japanese.

I like both for various reasons. I feel that in subtitled ones, the voice acting is better. However, I feel like I miss some of the smaller details in a a scene that I would normally pay attention to when I don't have to concentrate on reading text. I like dubbed sometimes because I can watch anime in the background and I do not have to give it my full attention.
Watch first, decide later!

I find myself liking both subs and dubs to be honest. I think it really depends on the series. I've seen (listened to) quite a few bad dubs, don't get me wrong, but when a good dub comes along I'll most certainly listen to it. Why you may ask? Why not! English is my native language after all, so I find it more relaxing to just kick back and enjoy the show without having the read subtitles.

Of course, there are those series that I have to watch subbed simply because I love the Japanese voice acting, or watched it in Japanese first. I find it difficult to switch between English and Japanese in the same series. It's like the character changes. And raw, well.. at this point in my life that's out of the question.

So which do I prefer more? I like both subs and dubs equally.

RAW! I'm japanese, so I understand the RAW!....... Just kidding :P I'm not Japanese at all (I'm Chinese), but I wish I was so I can watch anime in RAW and not wait for the subs.
All the anime I watch are subbed. I really hate dubbed, because all the voices are dull. I think that the voices in a anime is really important, they put mood to the anime. Sometimes, I even choose the anime I watch just according to the seiyuu that are playing in it.

as a former subtitle hater i have to vote subs, because a-Japanese voices are the original voices, b-subs are helping me (slowly) learn a bit of Japanese, c-seiyuus are more talented and versatile, and d-most of what i watch is not licensed

however for licensed anime, while overall i prefer subs now, i usually watch in one language then rewatch in the other, and there are some decent dubs out there

Read the thread. A lot of people give their reasons for watching dubs. While some are very poor, some people have very valid reasons for liking dubs.

Also, not all dubs are bad. Many are, but not all of them by a good margin.

(are youtube links allowed? ill spoiler just incase)

part 3 is the most interesting, so just watch through them...

although i disagree with many of the points made, they do have a good point, and the english movie examples are hilarious.... lol, imagine if they did that to the entire LOTR movies...

I like subs more. You get most of the original story, and they do not change anything like dubbing does. However I do like some dubs, but only particularly certain ones. Subs trumps over dubs though.
