All the crazy coil things in the back are nice, and I like the random tower in the front. There are also some character sketches. Fam Fan Fan has a pretty cool steampunk getup there. Goggles, check. Crazy belts, check. | There may be a larger cast than what has been shown so far. The first Last Exile had a lot of characters, so perhaps this one will too. But yeah, no telling how good it will be until it actually comes out. |
A first look at the new Last Exile. It looks like the design and environment for the new series will stay similar to the old one, which is great. The last frame of the trailer seems to indicate that Exile will make an appearance here, which might mean this takes place years after the original series. |

| So according to the updated character page from the official website, the characters in the trailer (in order of appearance) are: Fam, Jizel, Liliana(?), Luscinia (eyepatch man), Milia (in the center along with Liliana and another girl). |

| Well.. I am not so hyped up... I will of course give it a watch based on the fact that I very much enjoyed Last Exile.. But... I mean showing characters like our Ace Tatiana as supporting ? I have to assume they are either having this take place on the 'new world' or in an alt universe because this isn't* a sequel . And she and the others are on the new world living quite peaceful lives by the end, unless exile is taking them back and fourth on a regular basis now. forgive the spoilers on a series from 2003 lol |

| Dear lord I can't wait for this. Last Exile was the first anime I ever saw (Pokemon does NOT count), and dear lord I loved every bit of it as a kid. Its still in my top 5 favorites of all time. | I'm realizing more and more the stark difference in Gonzo's approach in producing the new series. In comparing between the cast members of the old series and the new series, I noticed the original cast were heavily dependent on older men and women who had very established careers in voicing military and more mature characters or dubbing English films. The obvious exceptions were Saito Chiwa (Lavie), Kitamura Eri (Tatiana), and Hanazawa Kana (Holly Mad-thane), all of whom practically began their careers in these roles. On the other hand, the new cast is very young and relies on some of today's most recognizable names in the anime industry who are often cast for leading roles. Others have pointed out that the new characters are dominated by females (which is not a bad thing). Those who viewed the first episode at Anime Expo have also noticed a more vibrant color palette used in the new art, especially when compared to the grays and browns of the old series. Steampunk has usually been geared toward more serious viewers who are able to appreciate its historical and artistic elements. However, this time Gonzo may actually be able to bridge it to younger viewers who are seeking fun in their anime. |
