| It was interesting how it appeals to an image of Geppetto and Pinocchio with the old man and the little robot but the old guy turns out to be a nasty person who used the robot as a doll (the title of the episode) to flatter himself. Showing a tawdry, unpleasant consequence of the existence of robots is fairly uncommon and a good piece of science fiction. But the reveal of the old man's true character didn't have any style to it, and the same is true of pretty much every scene in this episode (the last scene with J and Antonia especially comes to mind). Even with some good material (which not every episode so far has had) it's pretty bland. This is a problem the series has had in general. |
| It was ok but I wasn't really feeling this one either. Old guy builds a hi-tech punching bag, which can also turn into a Terminator for some reason. And he helpfully decides to confess it all to Daisuke at a really convenient point. Guess we have a fair few filler episodes ahead. I'm also gonna guess J has personality of some of our characters' fathers in him... |

| He sold his son. And if he doesn’t knock it off they will mock him off. They don’t kill because that would require going to the car wash. Doll. They speak about him right in front of his face. Why doesn’t she just ask him? And why didn’t he respond when he was standing right there and couldn’t have avoided hearing what they were talking about? The robot is having a serious malfunction. He is going to arrest a song. If the robot is capable of having a malfunction that causes it to falsely arrest people, it should not be able to arrest people anymore. He tries to punch the kid. Does he not have the ability to shut down the robot? Obviously, the problem wasn’t with his motor functions. Why would they even test that? OK, if you aren’t capable of doing it then get somebody who can we know that the character exist. What is going on? What? OK, good. That was not the main issue? I think a bigger issue was that he sprung to arrest somebody without an explanation and then started to attack something that has not been clearly stated to be other than a child. Of course it’s necessary. What is it going on? An unreasonable amount of attitude from the robot. He finds it hard to believe that there is chemistry between man and machine. He claims the thing designed to be as human as possible is a tool. Go tell that to yourself. It is Astro boy. He took out frustrations on his son?? One day, he will be the king of darkness . I think she was pressured into giving him a gun. The robot kills a human. Kicking the robot is an effective strategy? The robot claims a man must fight for his good and true friend. He punches with a train whistle. 2 |
