See the topic. Doesn't matter what company, DC or Marvel or Independent. Who's your favorite writer, and who's your favorite artist.
Jumping in Headfirst - I hear reading it causes immortality. Warning. Reading may not actually cause immortality.

Hmmm ... that's a toughie, but for writers I'd have to say either Alan Moore or Frank Miller, both have such great ideas, and for the latter twisted, and all their stuff has me addicted to it as soon as I pick it up. I stayed up all night to finish the Watchmen when I first found it, same with The Dark Knight Returns. They gripped me more than any other comic.

As for artist, I have to go with Charles Burns. His work on Black Hole was fantastic, each panel was a singular work of art and the layout was fantastic. His writing was also really great but not quite up to par with the abovementioned greats.

I'd have to go with Bryan Lee O'Malley for favorite writer.

And as for artist, that's a toss up between Vasilis Lolos, Becky Cloonan, and Corey Lewis. They each have their own style and merits.

I do love Alan Moore's work, how could you not?, but sometimes it's too dense. Don't get my wrong, I love all the layering and parallels and connections and depth, but it's not stuff I can handle reading again and again just because there's so /much/.

Judd Winick I really like, he wrote 'The Outsiders', post-Donna Troy and led by Nightwing. It was hysterical, gritting, dark, sexy, and touched upon everything! And he's so versatile-I couldn't believe he wrote 'The life and times of Juniper Lee' as well. There's so great subtle humor in that, too, for the record. xD

But overall?
Neil Gaiman.
/Love/ Sandman. I can read that at anytime, take it exactly as it is, or dive deeper into it. I've read 1-6 each at least five times, and I'm still not bored.

As for artist?
I honestly don't know. :/
It usually has to be utterly AMAZING or utterly TERRIBLE for me just to notice it.
I loved the work in Sandman and Arkham Asylum, and hated the art in the Raven miniseries.
I do like what the Titans new series looks like, kind. Bright colors and everyone looks super stunning, but Starfire was /white/ on one page and Donna Troy looked like a pornstar. Not that I really mind, hate that character. xD

As far as artwork I must say I am a fan of Alex Ross and David Finch. As for writers I must say I am partial to Geoff Johns and Neil Gaiman.
Your simple world can be a fantastic place, you just have to know where to look.

My favorite writer and artist could only be one person alone - Steve Ditko. Yes, he wasn't listed as a writer the Spider-Man tales in the '60s, but any amateur Spider-fan should know he might as well have been one - he co-wrote the stories with Stan the man himself, and his run brought some of the best tales of thrills (the birth of the Goblin, the Enforcers, the secret identity of the Goblin) and suspense (the ENTIRE Master Planner arc) I've ever read, up till the '90s (of which its era of Spider-books I haven't caught up with yet).

The only person who came close enough (and still remain quite a notch below) would be Roger Stern. Rarely a dull moment when I read his work. Conway comes next. Some of ol' Gerrio's stories could get rather dull, especially during the '90s run I'm following. I approve the Death of Gwen Stacy, though (even if it's just a cheap shock factor gimmick).

They get a lot of hate for what they do (or have done) to the big leagues in the Big Two, but my favorite writers are probably James D. Robinson and Brian M. Bendis.

As for favorite artists, I really like Stuart Immonen, Sara Pichelli, Amanda Conner and Humberto Ramos. I also like Tony Harris for Starman.

Favourite writer is easily Scott Snyder, his current run on Batman is the best thing comics right now.

artists is a lot harder to decide since there's so many good ones.
but I'll go for Greg Capullo the now since his work on Batman is brilliant.

Its hard to pick just one, but i would say is Jeff Lemire. His art and narrative are just so deep and artistic, i love it ◕‿◕
