im trying to get into coding, currently my focus is on c++, despite having pretty much all the time in the world, i can only muster up the energy to learn it when i wake up in the middle of the night. how do you have the energy to do things you want to do? because i sure dont know.

You don't have the discipline to sit all day and code. Start with 30 minutes per day at first until you get used to it.

Try something new, I'd rather work all day than watch youtube, it's awful.

Play a video game, hang out with someone, go shopping, work out, cook something. And maybe sign up for an actual course rather relying on occasional burst of energy at 3:10 AM and then sleeping through the productive part of the day.

@149597871 at my age (16) theres not much i can do on my own. im far to embarrassed to ask my parents for much of anything. i have taken courses before and they never end well for me, i lose interest or they´re just sad to be in.

lol welcome to my world but a simple advice if youre healthy is to break big task to smaller tasks
like in case of learning variables in programming try to learn the variable types one day at a time
for example today you focus on learning integer variables then the next day you learn boolean variables and so on

You don't. You're trying to learn it instead of just doing something you want to do with it right away which from what I heard is more efficient at learning. I only did tiny bits of C++ long ago though along with Visual Basic and briefly playing around with C Sound after I heard a song Tiesto composed in it which had me curious. I can't remember anything. I am more curious about language like Zig, Nim, Haskell etc these days but programming isn't my thing, just sometimes I get ideas and feel like I want to make use of them since no one will just do what I say. One of the many things I never wind up doing anything with. I don't even draw anymore and I loved drawing.

Fun goals are nice for learning and starting. You're on a project with deadlines so take your sweet time. Find tangible results to display and to enjoy.

Also, C++ is hard by reputation as a low-level language. It is not the most fun thing in the world to manage memory pointers. You should ask yourself why you want to learn it, and how much time you're ready to put in it, because this skill is hard to master. I remember back in the day, C# was more recommended when I searched for C++ tutorials, but I never actually got interest more than 5 minutes in C or its derivatives.

the more you do it the more you lose motive so start small like 30 mins a day if youre not in a rush.

exactly thats why beginner programming languages are like python and javascript because they do not need memory management aka learning pointers

You gotta set a schedule to get into the habit of doing things. Like the user with a bunch of numbers in their name said, start out with like 30 minutes a day, but have those 30 miniutes at the exact same time every single day no excuses. Habits build discipline.

You don't have any discipline. If stopped posting anime site, going Twitter and watching YouTube all day you probably get some.

A lot of non-profits welcome young people, so maybe you could try volunteering? I used to be in a similar situation to you when I was ~14 - feeling unfulfilled because of youtube and gaming - and once I started helping out at a local farm, I developed self-confidence, independence, and skills.
It does require you to have a ride there and back though, but IMO it's worth.

If you say you want to get into this also but need motivation for this, and have no real obstacle like a lack of a PC, then it sounds like you really don't want to do it. You've made a lot of coding posts. I think you want the image of someone who can code. But we don't care, no one does. So, quit and do something else if you're not going to do this lol. It's not something you want to do much anyways if you're not learning it.

Otherwise... try to get a class on it later so you have the threat of a failing grade over your head as motivation. But even that might not be enough. Or maybe a goal of some kind like a certain thing you want to make, which would require you to get skills up.

I Keep sticking to my spark. Anime, sneakers, sports, rain these are my emotional lifelines. . I'm a neet, I don't have friends or family and society have boxed me out. So it's probably escapism not motivation.

either do it little at a time or you're just not autistic enough to deal with coding as coding is masochistic
