Truthfully, Chainsaw Man was never my favorite anime. Ss 1 didnt leave much of an impression on me, though I did appreciate Ryu Nakayama's raw, cinematic direction. I only remembered the series this September when the new trailer dropped, but honestly, I didnot have high hopes.

Hearing about the director change made me apprehensive, as I liked Ryus style and feared the movie would feel completely different. I was wrong. The new director, Yoshihara, did not discard Ryus legacy instead, he preserved its essence and elevated the entire experience to a new level.

I genuinely love this movie. Beyond the upgraded art style, everything feels enhanced, the OST, cinematography, and especially the character depth. Reze and Denji are explored so much more profoundly. I used to underestimate Denji, but this film proved me wrong. Reze is incredibly captivating and intriguing. Aki is now def my fav charater, the chemistry between the characters is so beautiful

My biggest regret is not watching it in theaters, as the combat and music must have been insane on the big screen. After finishing the movie, I rewatched ss1 and realized I had misjudged Chainsaw Man. It truly has something special, and I now understand both why so many people love it and also why so many don't. Im just glad I finally saw its brilliance and will eagerly await ss2. This Movie really changed my perspective, and I love that.

As a manga reader, I can tell you the reze arc is only the beginning of something even bigger. I'd love to hear anime-onlys' thoughts for the upcoming seasons.

Glad to hear that. Chainsaw Man is misjudged by a lot of people. It is a genuinely well written and well crafted show. The manga didn't receive critical and commercial success for no reason. People are just too quick to judge it. I am hopeful that once Season 2 arrives a lot of current CSM haters will see the perspective of us CSM fans better as what resonates with us and tons of viewers who love this manga/ anime.

I am sure many of us felt the same way and realised the same after watching the movie. denji isn't just a shallow character, he's actually relatable in many ways, he has a heart and he's grateful for the life he has been provided with, he's kind.

I agree, I'm in a similar situation. Season 1 was good, but nothing outstanding.

The movie though is probably the best anime movie I've ever seen. From art and animation to sound to character interaction it' just really great.
Never thought I'd look forward to the next season this much.
