Man, this episode did have some wholesome moments. The scene of Mai and her friends in the sunrise of the beach...

And seeing the classroom setting again. It remnids me of the first episode and the bowling setting is back too. How I missed the bowling of this show but the feeling of energy in the air is still despair.

Only two more episodes of my girls :(

Surely after that emotional and bittersweet farewell at the start of the episode we get a happy ending, right? Wrong, lmao. Turkey has beat over our head for weeks now just how fucked up the Sengoku period was. Full of betrayal, murder, conspiracies, wars etc. No way the Sengoku sisters were ever going to fend off Kagetoki without our modern girls’ help.

The craziest thing is, the girls didn’t know their own town history so we don’t know if they actually had a negative impact on the past or what. I tend to think Sunomo and the others got killed in the OG timeline as well just because they were clearly outmatched in fighting strength and I think the lesson whatever malevolent force is behind this time travel is trying to teach them is to take control of your own destiny. For better or worse, they’re not gonna let their friends die.

You can just see how much this means to Mai especially. She lost her parents and had no control over it. This is something she can prevent and there’s no way she wasn’t gonna go back to help.

Anzu calling out for Nozomi and the girls at the end gave me chills. Even though she’s the youngest, she showed the most fight there by spitting in dude’s face and resisting to the very end. Proud of her. And of course our heroes show up right at the perfect time. Idk how the girls are gonna take out all these guys with umpire gear and fire extinguishers, but I’m here for it lol.

I can't tell if this series is so bad it's good or so bad it's bad, especially after this particular episode and "montage" but I am enjoying it. It's not so much a criticism of the series as a criticism of myself.

Does no one think to explain to these girls how basic temporal mechanics work? If you change something in the past to intentionally change a bad event, then there will be no one in the future to change that event because it will have never happened. You can’t change history with the power of friendship

Really good episode
The girls are so determined to help their friends in the past they just can't let it go. Their arrival at the end was just epic.

I'm on the "so bad that it's good" side. Honestly with their plan to go back with modern day inventions to confound the enemy and save the day I couldn't help but think of the movie Army of Darkness. This is much more light-hearted, of course, but both have this campy time-travel fun to them.

Looking forward to seeing how they manage to Three Stooges their way to victory next week. I bet it has to do with bowling. 😂

@Burnouts3s3 In my opinion, the simplest explanation, given the hair color of the heroines and other characters from the past, which hints that they are all their ancestors, is fixed timelines, then there are no contradictions.

@ShiroAlex So the "fixed timeline" means they were supposed to go back in time again and save them? And that's why they weren't erased from existence?

There could be a simpler explanation, the hair colors match simply to show each pair and their moments together.

Guess we will never know. They didn't go to that museum prior to the first time travel, so they don't know the original fate of the 5 girls.

Someone dies in the OP. I think it's Sayuri. I'm curious what that will end up meaning if anything. The OP changes creeped me out lol.

I have the theory that in that world there is a strong destiny, this is in charge of redirecting the events that happen to prevent the story from changing too much, something like the death of Mayuri in Steins Gate, anyway it is only a theory based on the fact that although there were changes they were born when minimal changes could have prevented them from being born and with the amount of changes they made it is very difficult for them to continue existing.
