Man’s basically doing remote work in a profession where “work from home” isn’t even a thing lol. Respectfully though, Gaku is so cracked it’s borderline ridiculous. Sure, he’s strong, but watching him manhandling half a squad without even turning on his full power felt less like a fight and more like a daycare session lmaooo. Early-series flexing, I get it, but he didn’t need to treat everyone as fucking kids lol. Shoutout to the jacket guy btw. Bro was vibing with Shin, pulling off some slick tag-team synergy, and even opened up a little. Then boom, dude gets folded. Sakamoto had to come there. This would’ve turned even worse if he didn’t. But yeah, all that heavy lifting and they still had to rely on Sakamoto in the end. Would've preferred if this bunch itself ended things decisively. |

Damn we only got one more ep left, fuck! Banger episode, even tho it wasn’t a direct confrontation with Gaku, Shin and the others did well to survive considering professors themselves got killed. Proud of Shin for surpassing his limits and just coming out of that is a W in my books. Of course our goat had to show up to save the day, Taro put belt to ass on Gaku’s puppet. Again, not a direct confrontation so you gotta take it with a grain of salt, but big confidence boost going into the finale/s2 to see taro whooping ass like that. Fight looked solid and I’m just still in awe of bro starting a plane’s landing gear and somehow using it to take off and kick Gaku puppet into the sky lmao. That ending scene is really badass too. I wonder if we’ll get some hints in the finale about Nagumo and Sakamoto’s former teammate’s whereabouts. |

Im gonna be honest I was kinda disappointed with how this turned out, I guess there wasn't much way around it since Kaji was the only one at his full power, Shin, Nao and Mafuyu had all been in prior fights but I really was expecting a 4v1. Like come on your telling me were just gonna magically spawn Mafuyu's blade back that Shin broke only to have him go down immediately. Like bro what was the point in having him randomly re-gain it as if Shin never snapped it back on the plane. Like dude that's so random. I think for me it would have been more valid for Taro to show up if Gaku actually killed one of them but idk I get the feeling this show is allergic to killing off characters. Dead serious Shin vs Mafuyu and Shin vs Nao were both far more entertaining then this. A good episode generally but idk I wanted more from the fight. I will say though seeing Gaku do that side punch move he used back on that one random guy a few episodes back was cool. I guess that's like his signature move |

The soundtrack composed by Yuki Hayashi is on fire, he never disappointed me in delivering what I want to hear when I want to hear. His only challenge is to how to make a good soundtrack without sounding too similar to his magnum opus aka My Hero Academia, and I think he successfully did that in Sakamoto. I think this episode actually highlight how Gaku can fight with so many compromises, 0.5 second lagging time is already very bad for online game, let alone for assassination, small area, fight while swimming when he's not actually in the water, etc. In short, he's good enough to be the big boss, or at least one of them. |

This episode was a lot of fun. Shin and Kaji vs Gaku/Shinaya was fire. But I didn't think we'd have Sakamoto fight at the end of the episode too. That part was short but it was very entertaining. It sucks there's only 1 episode left. |

Crazy to think we only have 1 episode left to end this 2nd Part of the 1st season. So, yeah, since the beginning Shin and the others were cooked, since Gaku is in another level. But they did give a good fight, since even Gaku was having fun. Not really sure how Gaku was able to move so well in an enclosed space, but good for him. Also, that technology is incredible, because it only broke right at the end. We finally got more of Kaji, and that he actually has an incredible hearing, being able to copy the opponents moves just by hearing them (although that idea, if you think about it, is a bit odd). Shin being able to read his mind sure was helpful for him to finally stand up for himself and show a good fight. In the end, Shin was saved by Mr. Sakamoto. Of course he wouldn't let his disciple die, and although Shin might see this as a defeat, the fact that he was able to stand up for himself so far was really impressive, since this fight was more for Sakamoto level, so he's a bit closer to that level. Overall, it wouldn't make sense for Shin and the others to be able to defeat Gaku, and the teachers couldn't do a thing to him. The episode was really fast paced, and the animation was quite good actually, more movement than what I was expecting. Poor guy that Gaku was controlling, his body must be completely broken. Also, this episode really showed that Sakamoto is just in another completely different level. I'm really curious how the anime will end this first season next week. It's going to be my first finish for the Summer Season. |

This entire episode from start to finish has been amazing. Great character writing, comedy, pacing, tension, choreography, story boarding, and just generally how the fight plays out. Normally, I hate long drawn fights that last more than a couple minutes, especially shounen stuff, but this 20 minute fight has been entertaining from start to finish. Everyone working on this projects finally got into the groove with this fight. It's a shame that the first part was such a disaster in basically every metric, and cuz of that Sakamoto days is getting less than half the viewership it did before now. |

Well I guess some of the people theorizing an exo suit were right. But, in order for Shinaya to be the guy, Kashima put out a job application online and Shinaya accepted the offer. The issue is that Kashima had to find someone who was able to handle Gaku’s flexibility, so that shortened the list of potential applicants to just Shinaya. Shinaya is actually asleep and he has machinery that allows Gaku to control his movements, hence why Shin can’t read his mind. However, Joichiro Kaji has the special ability of visualizing sound to the point where he was not only able to figure out that Shinaya was able and had machinery controlling him, but he was able to mimic Gaku’s movements and get a layout of the room that Gaku is in to the point where Gaku was forced to break Shinaya’s body to actually prevail. Luckily, Taro came in the clutch and made quick work of Shinaya, including REVVING UP THE LANDING WHEELS AND LAUNCHING IN THE SKY TO DELIVER THE FINAL BLOW! When Shin went beyond his limits, that reminded me of Asta and how the Black Bulls as a whole specialize in pushing past their limits. I respect Shin’s efforts. Also, when Shin was doubting himself, it’s almost like Taro was able to read Shin’s mind, but obviously that’s not the case. It was likely Taro simply reading Shin’s expression and understanding him. DAMN, now that Shinaya/Gaku has been dealt with, are we getting back to the regularly scheduled exam? |

@phantomfandom Now that you mention it, the 0.5 second delay is a hindrance, but if it wasn't for Joichiro Kaji, they wouldn't have been able to properly react, hence why a lot of the examiners died last episode. |

@KingBaller06 Fair enough to the whole back up thing, I still think its silly since the way the weapon worked it looked like a retractable weapon specifically built into his shoes which idk being able to just replace them so easily kinda feels cheap but at the same time Shin snapped them very easy so I suppose maybe Mafuyu knew their kinda weak and made sure their easy to replace so fair enough to that. But as for the killing off thing your misunderstanding my point im referring to characters which have some level of importance to the show or are around for multiple episodes. Yeah I get randoms will constantly get killed off but im referring to important characters. So far no important character that I can remember has actually been killed off. idk I slightly kills the stakes for me especially when Taro can just show up and save the day always. Like this whole segment felt like a way to really boost Shin by having him act more independent and in a sense it did but it still just dialled back on itself and had Taro save him again. |

A masterpiece of an episode, and genuinely a masterpiece of a fight between Tarō and Gaku. From the smooth animation to all the flexing, styling, and aura farming Tarō did on Gaku, with Tarō’s OST playing in the background, all the way to his finishing pose at the finale, it was perfect. |

@Phantom_Void737 I can understand what you mean by the important characters (I'm assuming you're saying the examiners themselves aren't important), but if Naro and Joichiro were capable of more than the examiners, that would kill the power scaling of the series because given the context, the examiners should be stronger since they have to test strong assassin candidates on the regular. I can understand what you mean by Taro showing up to save the day, however this is separate from Shin being independent during the exam itself since under normal circumstances, Gaku wouldn't be participating. Shin showed he can do things for himself when he defeated Naro in the previous episode not to mention getting the bullets himself on the plane. |

Damn, Gaku is an absolute beast: he took on four people and destroyed them, and that was from a distance. I can only imagine the destruction he would cause if he used his real body. Even so, Shin and Kaji shone during the fight. They formed a solid duo, and at least managed to damage the machine Gaku was using to control Shinaya. Sakamoto's appearance at the end was a real deus ex machina. Personally, I think it would have been better if Gaku had detonated Shinaya's body and, just as he was about to deliver the final blow, the body had collapsed, unable to withstand Gaku's power. Even so, the episode was incredible, it's a shame there's only one left. |

@KingBaller06 Actually yeah you make a very valid point, Shin has definitely acted well on his own with his last two fights and yeah Gaku even being there was never meant to be so yeah by that logic I can accept Taro coming in to save them and I mean realistically they were all winded at that point so what they even pulled off was pretty impressive in itself even if they were never gonna win |

Yeah... He'd better say everything in his thoughts. Everyone agrees. Sakamoto's fears about deer are not unfounded. In any case, this was funny for me. I'm travelling this month, and this is how I might or might not see the migration officials when I arrive at that airport (not biggie, really. I hope I don't laugh remembering this): |
©2025 LaczPro What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway). And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea). |

Aw man, I was kind of hoping Shin would beat that guy, and gain some confidence, but dang, that guy busted the ears of that sound guy, and then beat Shin. After that, I figured that Sakamoto would show up. |
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating. |

wowww what an episode. I didn't think Sakamoto absolutely HANDLING Gaku would be in this episode but they really packed alot in here!! Overall impressed at the cuts in here and the general direction (backgrounds lookin better than last ep too!). I'm jus happy that airplane beatdown looked great cuz that's one of my favorite Sakamoto feats lmao. Shoutout KA Tetsuya Ishikawa!! dude carried not only this episode but the entire SHOW basically, his cuts along with Yuki Hayashi's peak ost MADE this whole season for me. ahhh only one episode left :( then years of waiting for season 2... I'm assuming it'll get one cuz cour 1 had a LOT of buzz, cour 2 less so but way more than any of TMS' other shows, so I'm not worried about it not coming back or anything like that lol lookin forward to the finale! |

Gaku controlling Shinaya was an absolute beast. Even with Kaji teaming up with Shin and picking up on the fact Shinaya is being controlled, as well as getting all of the sounds down, it still wasn’t enough to stop him, and all the while Gaku is being a goofy ass on the other side lol, got a few laughs out of me. But even if it was a failed effort, it was a really good try, fight was super fun to watch, it’s just a shame Toramaru and Mafuyu were counted out early in the 4v1, but this did allow Kajii to shine, I just hope he’s alive after having an actual chunk taken out of him. But thankfully Sakamoto showed up and absolutely schooled Gaku, and it wasn’t really a contest since Shinaya’s body was already incredibly roughed up from the previous fight, but Sakamoto’s methods of winning were really wild to make up for it, like bro really made a moped out of the wheels of the plane lol. With that tho, Gaku lost control of Shinaya and the battle is done, and we got just one episode left to conclude this exam arc, it doesn’t feel like it’s quite done yet but hopefully the finale is satisfying enough to leave off on, because I have no idea when or if we’re getting another season. Also, damn I wonder if Shinaya is dead or not after Gaku broke his body, hope we get a follow-up on that. |

gaku was getting jumped and was still only playing around with all of them. he's really him. gaku imitating the swimming was jokes though. even if shin couldn't finish the job, proud enough of him to adapt and push shinaya so far with the help of kaji. their fight was really creative and the visuals looked solid too. mafuyu keeps becoming more likable and his teamup with toramaru was good. sakmoto stepping in and dogwalking shinaya was heat though, only thing is i wish they did the side-view panel justice, but i guess it'd be hard to do it in quick motion anyway. solid episode overall. |

wowww what an episode. Shoutout KA Tetsuya Ishikawa!! dude carried not only this episode but the entire SHOW basically, his cuts along with Yuki Hayashi's peak ost MADE this whole season for me.
ahhh only one episode left :(
then years of waiting for season 2... I'm assuming it'll get one cuz cour 1 had a LOT of buzz, cour 2 less so but way more than any of TMS' other shows, so I'm not worried about it not coming back or anything like that lol
lookin forward to the finale!

gaku was getting jumped and was still only playing around with all of them. he's really him. gaku imitating the swimming was jokes though. even if shin couldn't finish the job, proud enough of him to adapt and push shinaya so far with the help of kaji. their fight was really creative and the visuals looked solid too. mafuyu keeps becoming more likable and his teamup with toramaru was good. sakmoto stepping in and dogwalking shinaya was heat though, only thing is i wish they did the side-view panel justice, but i guess it'd be hard to do it in quick motion anyway.

solid episode overall.

@ryzxgum Idk the Anime didn't have the same flow as you show with the manga This sequence had distracting smoke effects |

This is just a cheap JoJo knock off. Had some pretty good humor and the story was ok at best, but this arc is just subpar in every way. These fight scenes aren't just exaggerated, they're nonsense. Writers just decided to throw out all rules without even trying to justify them. 1/2 second of lag, but yet still faster than a bullet... ok. Screen's broken, but he fights even better. Just retarded. Not to mention the whole premise makes zero sense. Can activate a sleeping body, yet somehow it's superhuman now? And how is hearing the other person's moves tell you anything?? bananas! Could have done such a better job. |

I guess that's like his signature move

The action scenes were pretty fun, but sadly much of the things happening around it remain really dumb. The only time I laughed out loud this episode was for that sequence regarding recruiting Shinaya via an online ad. It's like the author realized, "This entire recruiting exercise seems really convoluted, why don't I acknowledge that by admitting it is, that will make it ok!" "Let's recruit comrades the same way." -Gaku "Face-to-face interviews are vital, Gaku." -Kashima Because you cannot do face-to-face interviews with people you recruit in online ads that you outfit with gear and inject with something to make them your puppet, Gaku, you dumbass! Only with people we beat up, but hopefully don't kill, that are hundreds of miles away from us. Think Gaku Think! Oh yeah, this Kaji guy can apparently memorize a person's moves by sound after several seconds, because apparently superhuman brainpower with non genius characters is also a thing. Eat your heart out Shikamaru lol. This VR exosuit is also apparently waterproof despite being damaged and sparking because of course it is lol. Can't have our big climatic fight ending short-circuited like that ;) 1 more episode left before this writing train wreck will mercifully end. |

@Phantom_Void737 I think he punched a hole through the first guy, this was probably avoided because Kaji could read his movements via his super hearing ala Kikuchihara from World Trigger (man I remember when that was kind of popular) |

@ryzxgum I remember the plane scene when he sends him flying with the other plane wing, the spread was magnificent, though most of them tend to be super dynamic in that vein. |

@TheColonel76 Ironically, I think he's not too bad off, he feels like Suzuki could've brought him back, but what we learn makes that less likely, since he's not really involved in the assassin world, Kashima's ad just pulled him in. I feel like whatever Kashima did to him made it so he's more resistant in general, though Gaku "breaking" him has me wonder what it was exactly. Seemed like maybe he partly dislocated his shoulders or something else involving that area. |

@PokefanPT I don't think Shin was ever reading Gaku's mind, but reading Kaji's mind and then using his information to figure out what to do.
@KingBaller06 He said he couldn't read Shinaya's mind, which makes sense because Kaji explicitly notes he's asleep, so there's probably not really any conscious thoughts to read |
