Musical duo GARNiDELiA has announced an indefinite hiatus from their activities. The announcement was made on Tuesday through their official website.

Composer toku stated in the announcement that the music they created together has been a treasured part of their lives, expressing deep gratitude to fans for their warm support over the years. He also confirmed that all scheduled performances for the group's ongoing stellacage tour 2025 [PROGRESS] have been canceled.

Shortly after, vocalist MARiA took to social media to share her perspective. She revealed that she had not been informed of the hiatus beforehand and was equally surprised by the sudden decision.

In a follow-up statement, she detailed long-standing issues with her agency, including years of unpaid compensation and an environment that left her feeling isolated and unable to speak out. She explained that she had formally terminated her contract this August through legal means and had hoped to discuss the group's future with toku away from agency oversight. While saddened by the sudden announcement, she emphasized that her actions were not intended to create conflict with her partner and asked fans to refrain from directing harsh words toward him.

GARNiDELiA made their major debut in 2014 under Defstar Records with the single Ambiguous. The duo gained international attention with Gokuraku Jodo, which became a viral dance hit in China. They later signed with Sacra Music in 2017 and moved to Universal Music Japan in 2020, releasing their fourth album Kishikaisei that same year. Earlier this year, they released the best-of album GRND THE BEST PROGRESS, following their 2024 studio album TEN. Their most recent digital single, Zainin, debuted on January 11.

The duo, consisting of toku and MARiA, has been widely acclaimed for their contributions to anime music, with theme songs for Kill la Kill, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School), Beatless, Fate/Apocrypha, Taishou Otome Otogibanashi (Taisho Otome Fairy Tale) and most recently, Übel Blatt (Ubel Blatt).

I'm confused. The guy took a sudden break, but the vocalist told about the problems with the label?
