“We got an overwhelming amount of positive feedback. Through working on this project with Studio Khara, we were able to reach a new audience that had never been introduced to Gundam, and we were also able to bring back out main target audience – dormant Gundam fans in their 50s and over.” According to Ogata, the new entry achieved all of the company’s quantitative goals “to the maximum degree,” with exceptionally high TV and streaming platform viewership and strong merchandise revenue.

The final reveal was definitive nostalgia bait. Bro why are we fighting these old ass plastic toys from the 80s. Wind up toy looking thing.

Would be more satisfying if the whole plot wasn't centered around a "what if" scenario of an Saturday morning old kids cartoon 20000 years ago. We got that boomer crowd though.

I liked everything else though. It was pretty but a bit hard to follow. It is made for grandpa gundam fans.

Bandai Namco Holdings disclosed its IP-specific sales figures for the first quarter (April to June 2025)! It's no surprise, but the Gundam IP experienced a monumental increase, with total sales rising 81.2% year-on-year to 65.4 billion yen, an all-time high. Robust cross-group collaboration led to the substantial growth. GQuuuuuuX is specifically called out as being a huge contributor to that. G Gen Eternal and Gundam Pavilion also contributed to the growth along with better Gunpla and collectors figs and whatnot targeting high-end consumers. https://x.com/zeonicscans/status/1952969837694824846

Damn, that's impressive, haha. I somewhat predicted it could do well in sales, due to this series being a part of Gundam franchise and having so many references to the UC timeline, but wow. I didn't expect its result to be that monstrously high. ;D Nice.

Thanks for sharing this info.

@Adnash

yep no problem but sad gundam is still a small market on the west

GQuuuuuuX was a sucess while Mercury failed in Japan as I expected. The West is becoming irrelevant to Japan and I hope it continues.

@ToumaTachibana

WFM may have not been a comercial success in Japan. But it will live rent free in your mind for all eternity. I'd say that's a different kind of success.

@Kimurah Ehhh, SJWs lost their peak already, and they will be laughed at forever. Losing government support, business support & Soros private funding is a death sentence. Maybe after 100 years everyone will forget about it and history will repeat itself, but for now works like WfM, Tlou2, Star Wars sequels, etc. can only be seen as a laughingstock, Wolfy. Why does it take you so much time to rest and return? Are SJW echo chambers that taxing on a mind?

@Kimurah I'm pretty sure G:Witch was commercially successful in Japan, in general gunpla sales for the series was incredibly strong and it routinely topped user engagement charts on twitter, nico nico, pixiv and other sites. Bandai Namco reported a 20% increase in Gundam merch sales and posted record earnings for 2023.

Now how it compares to GQuuuuuuX is up in the air, probably only Bandai know those numbers and I doubt they'll release them to the public but at the very least G:Witch was a massive success and definitely outperformed earlier AU series like Iron Blooded Orphans and 00. Though it may be worth discussing how GQuuuuuuX's success could be attributed to new fans onboarded by G:Witch, again Bandai probably have the data on that and they probably won't release it anytime soon.

@ToumaTachibana WfM fail in Japan? Which Japan are you talking about? WfM was a huge success, both in viewership and sales.

It’s embarrasing to see that someone like you that easily spreads misinformation holds a position on this site.

Gundam Quuxxx was ok. The art was nice and the girls were cute. The writing is a lot weaker than og Zeta and ZZ.
