Okay, this might sound stupid, but... can I watch this or not ? Everyone’s criticizing it like crazy, and I don’t get why. What happened ? Why can’t I watch it or can I ? I think it’s about the main character, right? Why is everyone so mad at him ? What did he do to deserve all this hate ? Has the season 1 of it spoiled the entire series, or is it just this part that’s been spoiled ?

Also, season 2 or 3 of this anime got any better.

Yes you CAN watch it. If you so desire. Personally I like it. Kazuya does act like a beta cuck but I find it very entertaining to watch unfold. Unless you really hate slow burns and miscommunication tropes it can be very fun to watch.

As someone that is reading the manga, just don't. Skip it.

Now the details. The manga is better than the anime imo, leaving that aside, the story gets better in the anime until S3. Now we are getting S4, this is where shit hits the fan, and then it keeps going lower with every chapter.

the author is basically preparing his gooning material. he doesn't care about his characters or their relations and development. You will think at some moments that this show has some potential and then it leads to nothing.
So it's just not worth investing your time in this if you are not already into it.

When I first started watching this I thought it wasn’t going to be bad and I’m surprised myself that I got through S1 and S3 I thought I would’ve stop watching it but I don’t because I’m curious of what’s going to happen next even though it’s in the manga of what happens

Honestly I enjoyed season 1 and thought it was a fun, interesting series when i first watched it… unfortunately it got dragged out so much and people constantly make fun of it and the main character. The opening song is great, too.

I think it’s worth giving a shot. I’m caught up with the manga, it has its ups and downs. I actually like the direction it’s going, but somehow the author fumbles it along the way. Still, it manages to reel me in. Season 3 of the anime is probably the best, though. I’d say give it about three episodes—it’s a decent watch.

RAG is over-hated. It’s a slice of life show about a late bloomer navigating dating/social life in college at 20 years old which is a breath of fresh air from the High school Anime. I also thought it was a “Harem” anime but it’s def not and only 2 horses are in the race at this point. RAG is also very relatable for many Japanese that put off dating and relationships in high school due to academic obligations and lack of free time (Japanese college is easier than HS and many Japanese are already on college sophomore level by senior year of high-school) I think the show also has a very high level of visual polish similar to Oshi no ko or Blue Box which is always nice. RAG isn’t kaguya sama or oregairu level of serious romance tho. Treat it as reality TV in Anime form with a somewhat distant defined conclusion

if you wanna watch then ofc you can watch ... but after getting the recent spoiler ... I dont think i would waste my time in watching this anime . Also the story is very repetitive with very less development. There are sooo many better animes airing right now !!

Why don't you give it a try? Just watch a few episodes. Rent a GF has the same vibe throughout all seasons. If you like it, keep watching, if not just drop it. No one will criticize you if you like it, there are more than enough people who think it's okay, no one will throw stones at you.

I personally enjoyed it, it's not as bad as people say. If you like romcoms like "How I met Your Mother" you'll probably like it. The best word to describe the main character is endearing.

this show is very slow and sometimes stupid. s2 felt decent but S3 left very bitter taste, like they rewind relationship backwards canceling whole progress.

Slowburn is an understatement. Its burning slow romance with sudden heat up and then the flame gets blown out completely because of random stuff. Then it starts again with a new girl joining in. First season was kinda fun, but the whole concept could have been worked out over 25 eps and it would have been fine.

bro I have read the manga till the latest chapter . Once started with an interesting plot has just turned into a mess and is on loop mode repeating itself without any progress and final outcome - she refuses to be his girlfriend .

You should see some other good anime .
This anime will just play with your emotions like the author is doing with Kazuya .

Basically the main character should have proposed they go out for real, he didn't, and now the author is delulu about his own character and won't let them date apparently

As for why it's getting criticism, Kazuya (the MC) is just a horny loser on top of the usual sins of a harem MC. We see him peeling his banana (I mean, we don't see the banana for obvious reasons but it's clear what he's doing) multiple times and he will take the most innocuous of things and make them horny to fit his little goblin brain.

My personal opinion is it's just kinda boring. It's not really worth the hate-watching infamy and if it wasn't for Ruka, I wouldn't have kept watching. The other 3 girls in S1 are not very noteworthy imo, even the main girl. Even Kazuya himself... like, yeah, he's not a GOOD protagonist but he's not bad enough to be infamous.

I guess S3 is slightly better than S1 (although S2 is much worse) but it's genuinely not worth watching, not even as a joke.
