Alr kinda ripping off @fleurbleue's movie thread here but anyways, are there any like really popular or classic books you have yet to read?

Alright, so I only got seriously into reading like last year so I have a LOT of popular books I still haven't read but here's quite a few popular books/series I still haven't read (Most of which I'm planning to):

Any Dostoevsky, any Faulkner book, War & Peace, Fahrenheit 451, any Sherlock Holmes book, Brave New World, The Catcher In The Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Handmaid's Tale, any Harry Potter book, any Maze Runner book, any Divergent book, Any Colleen Hoover book, The Da Vinci Code, The Alchemist, any of the Fifty Shades books (i'm NEVER reading the fifty shades books though lmao), Memoirs of a Geisha, Dracula, Interview With The Vampire, The Notebook.

and honestly I'm just gonna stop here because it's honestly kinda embarassing the number of popular books I still haven't read ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Now what popular books have y'all not read?

From your list, I only read 4 (Any Dostoevsky, any Sherlock Holmes, Brave New World, any Harry Potter).

I don't think people read books here.

I admit that I don't read as much as I probably should. It would be easier to list ones that I have read:

J.R.R. Tolkien
-Lord of the Rings trilogy
-The Hobbit
-The Silmarillion
-Children of Hurin
Robert Jordan
-The Wheel of Time volumes 1-4
Frank Herbert
-Dune
Dostoevsky
-I've read two chapters of Crime and Punishment months ago.
Stephen King
-The Shining

That's not counting stuff I was forced to read in high school.

I've never actually read Harry Potter, would that still count as popular despite how long it's been?

Lots of popular novels i have yet to read, even lots of stuff from within my wheelhouse (fantasy and sci fi) i have yet to get around to, mainly cause i'm quite a slow reader all things considered. But i'll give a list of popular books from my high priority list that i'd like to read within the next couple of years:

Tha Stand
It
Neuromancer
The Gunslinger
Uprooted
Alice in Wonderland
The Complete Edgar Allan Poe
The Hero of Ages (As well as all the other Cosmere novels)
Watership Down

From the books I own physically, I still haven't read War and Peace by Tolstoy, mostly because of how long it is. Also, I got it in an English edition, and since it's not my first language, I'm afraid it might be a bit too difficult to get through.

Aside from that, I haven't started Don Quixote by Cervantes yet, and a few months ago I read about 30 pages of The Magic Mountain by Mann, but I haven't continued it since.

Despite the anthology's fame, fewer than half the volume has anything to do with "The King in Yellow." The rest are weird romance stories. I'm partial to "The Demoiselle d'Ys."

Nothing's stopping you from reading just the stories that gave the book its reputation.

The Repairer of Reputations
The Mask
In the Court of the Dragon
The Yellow Sign

Never read any of the Harry Potter or LOTR books.

There are also plenty of books that I've read a little bit of, but not enough. Examples include 1984, Animal Farm, and Slaughterhouse Five.
"Molly Ringwald" out right now - check my Linktree!

Too many to list. I have never been much of a reader (at least I was literate as a kid, unlike 90% of iPad kids).

OP, you are only 14. Don't feel embarrassed, you still have all the time in the world and, like you said, you only got into reading last year. It's not a race. just enjoy the ride no matter how long it takes. Even university literature students would have gone their whole degree without reading some of the books you listed!

I'm hoping to read or atleast start these books this year:

· Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
· Rhythm of War and Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson
· Books by Guy Gavriel Kay
· City of Last Chances by Adrian Tchaikovsky
· Sun Eater by Christopher Ruocchio
· Some Discworld novels by Sir Terry Pratchett

I have on my list Sun Eater by Christopher Ruocchio and Red Rising by Pierce Brown.
A colleague at work suggested to give me her copy of The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole, cos she didn't like it. I said I am not into Romantasy, so not sure I will like it either. But maybe will give it a try. XD
