Serizawa is strong, both physically, and also psychologically against Naozumi, which at first, he was the righteous samurai aiming to change the peacetime landscape with the Risshidan. But yet, nothing changed within the 10 years since, not even with the change of the Shogunate to the 14th Iemochi, but the only one being that Yotaro's life has changed for the better, even with a wife and a happy-go-lucky family that refutes all things samurai.

But with the change of times, only he and the Blood Risshidan are left behind still being attached to the sword, unable to embrace change. And with it, the last breaths of the leader himself slashed by the brute force of Serizawa (but not to the point of death), with the slow anguish of his death facing Hijikata.

Naozumi was just born unfortunate with a bad hand, that's the matter.

Naozumi and the Risshidan have finally been defeated I would have liked his showdown with Serizawa to be a bit longer though.

Naozumi the man fighting time. We got quite the elongated back story for him right as he's going out. We already learned before how Noazumi felt disgruntled with the new times not needing samurai anymore. His long journey across Japan not broadening his mind but instead showing him how many people are being left behind. The black ships arriving spelled the end of the age of the sword. Samurai arent what Japan needs right now, their time has passed. Its just as Hijikata said, Naozumi was born too late. Maybe a couple hundred years earlier he would've been the best samurai of his age. It was really sad seeing Naozumi spiral when he went back to see his family after ten years. Seeing his father turn into a gentle old man. Seeing the family name about to be passed to people not of true blood. Naozumi felt the betrayal right in front of him. Killing his father broke my heart honestly, I knew it was coming but man that was tough. After being told one way is the only way your whole life its hard to change, but it starts with having the desire to change which Naozumi didn't. So he died as he lived, clinging to the ideals of what a samurai should be as the world changed around him.

Naozumi thought the world revolved around him, instead he was just nothing.

Nagi's giving birth at Nio's gran's place. Both she and Yotaro were non-samurai who got adopted.
Naozumi can't stop taking Ls. Even how he got his cross shaped scar is pathetic. His envy and ideology has just ruined his brother's life as a result.

Arc is coming to an end, Naozumi's backstory was pretty interesting, always pertinent to see how someone can fall so deep on their ideology and way of life, in some way it corrupted him but there must have been another way for him i want to believe,

Him and the others could have been great members of the Shinsengumi but sadly story was told another way

wonder how this anime will conclude now and will we see a season 2 someday.

This time we gets to see things from the Naozumi's side. He was a true samurai but it just wasm't the right times for him. The episode continues with tons of monolog till the ending.

We see things that he did and how he felt, for anyone it may see his actions were wrong and they are for not wanting peaceful times. But for him, he was always right no matter what acting he took.

And it seems the cut Serizawa received from Naozumi will prove fetal in the upcoming future when he grows old.
