Giving up social media is pretty easy ,but its a little harder with YT for me. Everything been on loop ,dry and staged since like 2020 ,so might as well anyway. •Have you ever thought about giving up any other SMedia and if you did ,how do you feel now that you no longer have that thing ? |

I see no reason to give up on YouTube, it's the best video platform there is. Thy-Veseveia said: I gave up on Facebook long ago, never missed it.Have you ever thought about giving up any other SMedia and if you did ,how do you feel now that you no longer have that thing ? |

I make videos so not entirely but like I wish there was a better platform. Atleast my content is so niche it will never get popular. |

Ideally id like people making stuff to move over to maybe Odysee instead. Some have it but only more the engineer and chemistry channels do that as far as im aware, there is a lot of other kinds of stuff to watch and I dont think Japanese post anything there. |

Sometimes I think about it when YT detects my AD block, and forces me to turns off it. But a few minutes later I always find another blocker, that skips annoying ads, so I can still use it. :) |

I can't give up YouTube cuz then I wouldn't be able to have any meals. Thy-Veseveia said: Have you ever thought about giving up any other SMedia and if you did ,how do you feel now that you no longer have that thing ? I am willing to give up anything else. I only really use Insta and Twitter aside from YT. I guess I'd be a bit reluctant to give Insta up as well cuz the algorithm is golden and the userbase has shifted from cringe sensitive folks to Reddit on drugs, which I like. |

Not while my content filtering (as in ad-blocking) extension still does its job. YouTube are constantly pushing the envelope with shitty administrative decisions and user-hostile changes to the site, but it can get away with it because there are no competitors with even a fraction of its library, which inhibits a theoretical mass emigration to alternative sites. These alternative sites are also fighting an uphill battle to even stay afloat for more than a few years anyway, let alone gain an effective foothold, as they're rarely profiting enough to account for the bandwidth and video-hosting costs. |

A few times... though the platform is simply too rich with unique and well produced content to ever truly be able to say "nah, no more". Other social media is easy to give up on, since so many of them hold so little value (Twitter is DramaHub, Facebook is BoomerHub, TikTok is BrainrotHub, Reddit is... well actually, that one still has some amount of value), but YouTube is so overwhelmingly loaded with people creating content that of course there's something there for everybody. Now if YouTube ever got rid of their RSS feeds and truly stomped out every last way to use an off-site player (Somehow ban yt-dlp and Newpipe, along with other tools), then maybe I'd give giving up another thought, since I very rarely access YouTube directly nowadays. |

The ONLY reason I still use Youtube is because there is some good music to listen to on it. Other social media websites I tend to avoid/ignore. I cannot tolerate Facebook or Twitter btw. I use Deviant Art sometimes. But that site is starting to suck, too. The entire Internet is quickly becoming an epic fail. Maybe it was an epic fail to begin with? |

Giving up on YT was the easiest for me since it doesn't provide anything of my interests, anyway (it is simply a TikTok crap but for brainwashed Millennials and 7 other grandmas with their garden tutorials). Twitter on another hand, nope, (it has the potential to be a heaven site if remove all the AI-based crap content, all Western politics, and all the Celebrity/Sports from it). Didn't bother with any other social media, and have no interest in them (for obvious reasons). |

Of course, Youtube is pure, utter garbage. Capitalism is all about producing the lowest-quality/most shitty products possible at the highest price possible. For maximum profit. It is a total scam. A total con game and swindle. Not that it matters too much, because we get Near Term Human Extinction (NTHE) soon enough. Anyone, saying otherwise, is seriously stupid or delusional. The rich elites don't have any secret "plan" to survive NTHE. They are shitting their pants. Very 100% literally, nobody will survive NTHE. It will be a sudden and catastrophic, planet-wide collapse, resulting in human extinction very suddenly, relatively-soon. I can guranatee it. |

@DesuMaiden, Capitalism was only viable while having constant expansion, but, there is nowhere to expand anymore. The society needs a completely new base structure in terms of economics and politics. Requires completely different new institutes to raise and educate intellectuals with a completely different new mentality and approaches to life. But, somehow I get the feeling that this only is going to happen after a proper WW3, and not otherwise. |

Exhumatika said: Giving up on YT was the easiest for me since it doesn't provide anything of my interests, anyway What are your interests? I find it hard to believe that YouTube does not have videos about them. (Unless you meant watching videos is not among your interests.) (it is simply a TikTok crap but for brainwashed Millennials and 7 other grandmas with their garden tutorials). That could not be further from the truth. YouTube has videos about countless topics. Millions of them are highly informative and professional, such as scientific documentaries. It also has thousands of series and movies, including anime. As for "brainwashed millennials"...I hope you realize someone like yourself born in 1980 is one, according to some sources. (I know most sources say the starting point is 1981 or 1982, but a year or two is not a meaningful difference.) If you meant you think only certain millennials are brainwashed rather than all of them, it was a mistake to use that wording; actually, it was a mistake either way, as it is absurd to assert that the nearly two billion people between the ages of 28 and 43 (or so) are brainwashed. (Never mind the fact that you failed to present any evidence of brainwashing.) DesuMaiden said: Capitalism is all about producing the lowest-quality/most shitty products possible at the highest price possible. For maximum profit. It is a total scam. A total con game and swindle. On the contrary, capitalism has produced higher quality products at lower prices via innovation and competition. The technology in smartphones would have cost a million dollars mere decades ago; now they cost under a thousand. Of course, in a free market there are bound to be lower quality products available at higher prices as well. If you don't want those products, don't buy them. It's as simple as that. Besides, YouTube is free to use, so it's hardly relevant to your claim of high prices. Not that it matters too much, because we get Near Term Human Extinction (NTHE) soon enough. Anyone, saying otherwise, is seriously stupid or delusional. The rich elites don't have any secret "plan" to survive NTHE. They are shitting their pants. The "rich elites" (along with anyone with a shred of sense) know that NTHE is nonsense, so they're not worried about it at all. Very 100% literally, nobody will survive NTHE. It will be a sudden and catastrophic, planet-wide collapse, resulting in human extinction very suddenly, relatively-soon. If you're going to constantly spam the forums about NTHE, the least you could do is explain exactly how it would happen. What do you suggest will cause this sudden extinction event? Even if a large meteor hit the Earth, it wouldn't immediately kill all humans. I can guranatee it. The proper spelling is guarantee. I explained that to you before. Exhumatika said: Capitalism was only viable while having constant expansion, but, there is nowhere to expand anymore. No credible economist adheres to the preposterous notion that capitalism (the free exchange of goods and services facilitated by private property rights) requires infinite growth. The society needs a completely new base structure in terms of economics and politics. Requires completely different new institutes to raise and educate intellectuals with a completely different new mentality and approaches to life. Would you care to describe what this entirely new socioeconomic structure, mentality and approach to life would be? (Along with why society needs it.) If you are unable to do so, your argument that society needs something you cannot even define is unconvincing. fleurbleue said: You sound like some kind of doomsday cultist. I probably have a YouTube addiction, without it I would have probably finished every interesting TV show and anime by now. I think I have a healthy relationship to social media now though. Before therapy I definitely posted way too personal stuff just to vent, but in general I just lurk on classic social media and only post on "faceless" websites. I love seeing what the world is up to. Gaming as entertainment is probably "worse" because you can't be productive while doing that. I can clean while watching/listening. But who do I need to be productive for anyway? I love being an internet person. |

@SmugSatoko 1. Twitter is already more than enough, and YT is not the only platform, (there are many other websites with specific topics/content), and because of the YT policies/censorship, most YT channels that I used to watch created their own websites (or moved to other platforms/websites). 2. As for the economy where do you see "infinite growth"?, all I see is that the US Federal Reserve continues manipulating the numbers, the inflation keeps inclining, Trump failed "The US Re-Industrialization" or more like was prevented from doing so(now he's a complete joke). Under the Biden administration, the economy has significantly declined since the fall of 2021 and keeps declining. Now, do you honestly believe all these clowns? As I said, Capitalism was good at the beginning but as of late (or more like in these past 20 years) it just doesn't work, for many reasons. The world changed (and not for the good) and it's only one of the reasons. All of us played the Monopoly board game (at some point in life) right? And I believe that the majority of realistic people (with non-liberal economic education) hated that game for one particular and obvious reason (just a hint). |

Exhumatika said: 1. Twitter is already more than enough, and YT is not the only platform, (there are many other websites with specific topics/content), I did not ask whether alternatives exist (those are well-known) or which other sites you prefer. You said YouTube "doesn't provide anything of [your] interests" but didn't clarify what it lacks in terms of your interests. For that, you would need to answer my question pertaining to what your interests are. and because of the YT policies/censorship, most YT channels that I used to watch created their own websites (or moved to other platforms/websites). Unfortunately, restrictions on content are inevitable for the most popular websites. I'm certainly not saying YouTube is the only one people should use. 2. As for the economy where do you see "infinite growth"?, I don't. I explicitly stated the idea of infinite growth is ridiculous, and no credible economist buys into the idea that capitalism requires such a thing. all I see is that the US Federal Reserve continues manipulating the numbers, the inflation keeps inclining, Trump failed "The US Re-Industrialization" or more like was prevented from doing so(now he's a complete joke). Under the Biden administration, the economy has significantly declined since the fall of 2021 and keeps declining. Now, do you honestly believe all these clowns? You correctly point out that government policies can make life worse, such as causing more inflation...but that is not a valid critique of any economic system. If anything, it is a good argument for why governments should be less involved and let markets flourish naturally. As I said, Capitalism was good at the beginning but as of late (or more like in these past 20 years) it just doesn't work, for many reasons. The world changed (and not for the good) and it's only one of the reasons. You're not presenting any real information in this statement. All of us played the Monopoly board game (at some point in life) right? And I believe that the majority of realistic people (with non-liberal economic education) hated that game for one particular and obvious reason (just a hint). Because someone gets rich? That's how capitalism brought about such unprecedented prosperity across the world: by incentivizing the creation of new products and services that benefit others. I asked about the new world you envision, but you didn't elaborate. I'm sure most people reading what you said would be curious to learn more. (Unless you have no information beyond that you wish there was something new and different.) |

Youtube is basically cable TV to me, along with streaming sites. But I only use it with adblockers because their ads are horrendous and invasive. One of the reasons why I left cable TV was because of the annoying long commercials, why would I ever want that on the internet? |

Nope, I love Youtube but I'm also someone who really likes to learn so I'm always watching educational videos.. I like to learn about bugs and reptiles and I love biology so I watch a lot of videos pertaining to that.. If not those, then I'm watching commentary videos on ghosts and paranormal videos etc. I also admit to watching some V-tubers as well.. So again, nope as long as the content I watch actively gets posted, I will continue to probably use YT more than any other platform. Instagram is a close second. I will admit to being heavily addicted to Instagram. I don't use TikTok or facebook. I have them, but I rarely touch them. |
