Staying on the island means that Tonbo will never reach her full potential in terms of her golf skills, right? Igaiga tries to make her understand that.

Poor Igaiga got bitten by a bunch of black flies. The giant eel must have tasted very bad too. Tonbo really loves to play tricks on him, lol.

A shocking ending with Igaiga suddenly leaving the island.

And it looks like next week Tonbo will get a rival. Well, there's a room for another young golfer girl on Hino Island.

Things are getting really interesting.

Tonbo being told by Igarashi that her method of playing golf isn't golf, it's time for a refresh.

Tonbo's family surname is really Ooi, as Igarashi sees Grandpa Gon visit her family's gravestone. The golf trainings continue as per usual, though mind training and pressure is added up to face the realism of golf....except that he can't really swim after diving into deep waters. Tonbo is also subconsciously learning how Igarashi teaches her golf, and that's for the best.

Igarashi getting his skin irritated by buffalo gnats a.k.a black flies in the unused toilet, its just him not getting used to life here. But when the same is brought to Tonbo on a trip to Kagoshima, she didn't seem willing to leave the island. And also, a giant mottled eel...Igarashi's just getting bamboozled by Tonbo by it being edible, when it's not. Igarashi's learning experiences on Tonbo's island, now he wants to get her out of it, and therefore, leaves the island in a hurry without any single word.

Igarashi bringing a rival to Hino Island, that would be a big woo-ha.

I actually love this anime but the way Igaiga treats Tonbo is a bit harsh IMO. I mean she is only a kid. Why does she has to feel pressure? She's doing great!

I'm so looking forward to Tonbo's character development, as much as Igarashi's. I want to see both of them overcoming their trauma, with Tonbo no longer confining herself on the island and Igarashi breaking through his bottleneck as a professional player and properly face his family.

@Pyoung Many athletes starts young, for example in racing usually parents started to cultivate their children when they're 4 y.o, at 4 y.o they're usually can drive basic karts and mini motorcycles, it's also the same for other sports too (Well maybe other sports aren't as harsh as racing, kids can start a bit later in other sports but not more than 10 y.o)

Tonbo is supposedly 14 y.o right now so she's a bit late, that's why she didn't listen to Igarashi's mentoring about pressure, Tonbo right now almost has her own mindset that would be harder to remove/change as she grew older.

That's why Igarashi is racing against time right now, that's why he's willing to go this far.

I don't like how Igaiga is so persistent over his own ideas, disregarding that maybe not everyone has or needs to abide by his ideal standards. I wish one of the main characters was more compelling than this, the moments that make him look silly aren't helping either. Apart from that, the golf part is quite interesting, and I'm liking Tonbo so far.

It's not really surprising that he drove his own son away with his mentality...Away from playing golf professionally or even for leisure and fun, and presumably away from him and their familial relationship as well. The thing is, that as a kid and a minor, if he were her father, then he could "force" her to leave the island, take up residence elsewhere of his choosing, enroll in some competition, attend whichever high school he preferred, etc., but as he isn't actually her father or guardian of any sort he really can't force her to do anything. And the only people who seem like they might be in a position to do so, like her grandfather the fisherman and that other older woman on the island, seem to have absolutely no interest in and intention of compelling her to do anything outside her comfort zone.

Not saying any of the characters or sides are right or wrong on this. It's extremely easy to understand all the perspectives involved.

I made right move putting this anime on hold to watch animes I gave lower scores. Igaiga does Tonbo dirty at the end of the episode yet again!!!

I agree with his end goal, of getting her off the island to play golf, but he's all over the place and often counter, while sometimes doing good. Luckily, he realizes that himself is part of the problem and is also working on figuring out what he needs to fix with himself.

4/5, gross fish and LOTS of painful itchy bites, no no no. Love Tonbo's way of thinking though, to include jumping.

Igarashi doesn't understand that all the pressure is what destroyed his golf career and possibly his relationship with his family... anyway RIP his butt lol there are many tropical insects and animals in this island I can see xD
I wonder what he is trying to do leaving the island on that ferry at the end though.

That was a good episode, I love how no matter how hard Iga tried, Tonbo stood her ground and held her values.

But brooo, that ending, just cruel towards Tonbo, leaving like that without telling her anyting. I'm sure that was on purpose, but man, she endured so much it must have been twice as tough.

No matter how hard Igarashi tries, Tonbo doesn't get a grasp on the concept of pressure. Probably for the best.

Igarashi learns the hard way about the inedibility of giant back eels and the fierce stinging power of black flies.

Igarashi convincing Tonbo to leave the island by playing with her emotions and leaving the island himself on a ferry was absolutely cruel LMAO.
