The daily life of the Yuzuki brothers, as told by Gakuto that he needs to jot down in a diary, it's private, but personal. From the needs of food that Hayato has been working hard for as the family's sole breadwinner, feeling inadequate himself that he needs to fulfill his youngest's wishes, that both Minato just went with it; to simple things like Minato's exam failures that has the same-aged brothers of him and Mikoto be in a feud, that Hayato takes things like exams seriously. But for the eldest to feel like the youngest is the head of the house for being the grandson; Minato to see him like an angel where nothing beats the bro-con love of same-aged brothers; and Mikoto seeing him as both a lover and a rival, youngest brothers are seen differently.

The rain continues as the brothers see their past lives glance by, to visit their parents' grave to pay their respects, the least of which Gakuto had the least interaction with their parents before they passed away. With the better outlook of the sky which a rainbow shined upon them, the brothers look to Gakuto wanting to spend time doing things together, as long as the brothers are altogether.

This has been blessings in the small ways possible, such a heartwarming show.

Definitely in the ten top of objectively best series this season.

Interactions and emotions convey so genuinely thru the animations, every episode has it on way of making the eyes tear up.

Credits to the studio for going above and beyond especially in regards of integration of real world environments and scenery.

I may say it's underrated, but this is pretty wholesome. That includes the scene where Gakuto has to write on the diary about his and his brothers' daily lives, and to end up with a **shared one between each two brothers**.

This deserves a 2nd season, of course. 😊

A great final episode for a great series.
Still think it would've been more popular had the 1st ep subs been terrible and scared some ppl away.Sleeper hit of Fall imo.
Overall 8.5/10

Beautiful finale. Again, tears in my eyes. Every episode of this show was so beautiful and soothing. Dare I say it one of the best SoL I’ve ever seen. The male family dynamic was so well done here. Hayato’s love for his brothers was palpable in every episode and this finale kinda summed all of that up. Just 4 boys trying to make it through life together with all its ups and downs.

“I’ll go anywhere as long as it’s with my brothers” “ a lot of people think I’m sad because my parents are dead, but I’m happy every day because of my 3 older brothers” that is so damn sweet man. Gakuto is the best little brother anyone could ask for. 😭 His daily diary was one of my favourite segments. The little guy is so considerate of everyone. If you think about it, in this episode we literally just watched Minato be a tsundere and not want to get helped with his studies, Hayato fold clothes and the family take a trip to the grave, but it was so fulfilling. Just like the lives of the Yuzuki family are fulfilling despite doing mundane things together.

I did not expect to like this show nearly as much as I did, so glad I gave it a chance. I think everyone with an older brother or siblings can really empathise with this family and see themselves in their shoes. The author knows just how to make characters feel alive. Very well done. I hope we get another season

This was truly a beautiful and heartwarming show. I loved it. Yes, the first episode subtitles were quite bad but it was better than ever as time went on. The lives of the 4 brothers portrayed through beautiful animation and a nice story. The brothers have both sad and happy times and regardless of whatever situation they find themselves in, they always scale through till the very end. The final scene in the season finale made me a bit teary and I believe I was not the only one. I do hope for a second season if I'm to be honest.

9/10.

Season 2 please
Onegai~~~

They skip an important arc this season showcasing the growth of Minato, which is kinda sad.
The last 2 episodes are great but I think putting that arc has way more impact for the story as a whole and a better finale.

i cant find any localization going on with this series so i cant just binge the rest of the series.
I'm so dead, I need moree.

I watched a different language version so didn't suffer through this
Is this the reason why this series is so unpopular, that crunchyroll fucked up the translation -> driven away most audiences?

@Ventus_S It certainly didn't help. The first episode was clearly machine translated on the Crunchyroll subs. It was very bad. I could definitely see it losing some people.

Loved this series.

This should have been a long-running show instead of only 12 episodes. It reminds me of the long-running family shows I used to watch as a child. Shows like Maruko, Akachan to Boku, Hai! Akko Desu and others.

I wasn't going to watch this series because of the whole subtitles thing in the beginning, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. It was such a warm, cozy show. A real treat. Hayato is a great big brother and Gakuto is the cutest and must be protected at all costs. Mikoto and Minato lost me a little with the whole bro-con thing, but it's clear they love their family very much. Definitely one of my favorite shows not only of this season, but of the whole year. Totally wouldn't mind a 2nd season, but I'm happy with how it ended.

Gakuto's diary and visiting the family grave to end the series.

You know, sometimes I watch a show which I describe in my head as "fucking adorable." Which I mean is a series that exists solely to be that. To elicit warm feelings and happiness. On the surface I think this Yuzuki family series could be perceived as an example of such a series. And in my mind there's nothing wrong with that. Some of my favorite anime are series like that, but this one definitely had more to it. The inherent drama that comes from a premise involving four orphaned brothers, three of whom still being children themselves, ensures that. And while I do think some of the reminders in some of the episodes felt a little heavy-handed, for the most part I thought the series handled the drama fairly well. Not that I'm an expert in losing your parents thankfully, but you know what I mean. I do think some of the two parters, such as the one involving Gakuto's parents' day at school one, didn't need to be two parters. But at the same time the second part of that arc moved me emotionally moreso than any other episode of the series. So credit where it's due. And this series certainly still was adorable and heartwarming and feel-good as well. I liked all four brothers and the secondary characters, which were mostly just the across the street neighbor's family, and the show was easy to watch. I'd watch another 50 episodes of this if we got it as far as that goes. After writing all this honestly I'm now feeling a low 8/10, but I'll keep my initial high 7, at least for now.

Such a great show.
Only big downside is that Minato can be really annoying.
Either he's way too loud, or his new obsession with Gakuto is a bit too creepy.

but again, this show is probably top 10 from the Fall season for me.

Kinda jumping late to the meme train of Brother Falco.

I'll be honest, Gakuto is easily the character I find the least interesting nor down to earth of the series, so both the 1st episode and this finale feel a bit lukewarm to me.

I really did enjoy a heck the rest of the episodes. I loved Uta's arc from getting asked out to finding dissapointment for poorly thought out words from her date. Her and Minato acting all bratty were probably the highest point of the series for me.

Hayato was also quite a loveable character for being the one who had to carry the biggest responsabilities in the family. His episode on his highschool reunion was pretty good in the sense that it measured how important his really close friends and family compared to peers he met long time ago.

Really liked Mikoto a lot too, for being one of the characters that had to change so drastically due to their family circumstances and his meme deadpan bro-con persona was also quite fun most of the time.

I'll give this one a 7.5/10

Probably the hidden gem of the season, and a beautiful gem worhty of its time at that! A pretty good and emotional final episode too. The scene at the gravestone was sad and sweet, and I loved the live action footage and the charcoal animation parts

Hopefully they announce a new season because I already miss this family and the siblings interactions!

In the end, a 9-9,5/10 series to me. I love slice of life series, especially those about siblings

it was a bittersweet time for Gakuto since out of the four of them, he was the one who spent the least amount of time with their parents since they left when he was only four. but his older brothers all love him and his family's the best, even without a mom and a dad.

Nothing special to finish the season, but a good episode as always!

Defenetly a show I'll miss now that it's over. Many relatable and heartwarming moments, but I wouldn't quite put it into the same category as shows like Cool Doji Danshi and Atarashii Joushi, as - even though it was always a happy end - it also dealt with quite heavy topics.
The characters were also written really well. Hayato and Gakuto were exceptional, Minato wasn't as relatable to me but he complemented the family well. Mikoto only really got to shine during his backstory. But he also is a very quiet person, so it's not much of a problem. Finally, the neighbours did a great job for giving me faith in humanity again, especially the grandpa. I wish I had someone like them in my neighbourhood too!

A very well-written Slice of Life with a rather unique take on the wholesome genre. 8/10 for now, but it's very close to 9/10 and I might bump it up once I slept over it.

Btw this season didn't include a 3 chapters arc from manga, but that arc discuss some rly good topic about peer pressure/ bullying/ self esteem/jealousy stuff. It gives a bit more weight into the development of Minato.
Kinda sad they skip that arc and replace them into 2 comfy episodes in the end.

Let's just hope Season 2 rly is possible..

I think the manga has enough contents for 4 seasons actually since this studio literally adapt 1~1.5 chapter per episode anyway, and there's like 50~60 chapters now.

The thing is , would they going to make it an ongoing series or just an one off adaptation to advertise the manga?

What a beautiful and underrated series. While I won't change a thing about the show as is, I would love a similar premise where they have a sister in the mix. As the eldest of three, with a middle child brother and a baby sister, I would've related more to the doting and the affection. The sister doesn't even need to be the youngest Gaku, it could be the third energetic child Minato (I guess you get an Uta-like character in this scenario lol).

Beautiful finale addressing Gakuto's thoughts about his brothers and the fact of losing his parents at such a young age. It's so reassuring to see he won't lack any love given how much his brothers care about him.

Man, this was such a lovely show. The topics it addressed were handled perfectly and I particularly liked what the studio did with the art direction during certain key moments, as well as with the live action footage they used for transition scenes.

9/10 - Second best anime of the season just behind Frieren and easily in my Top 10 for this year. Hope it gets a sequel someday.
