I can't believe it's over now, and in my whole life this is legit the only anime I've ever caught live each week right on the airtime too.
It's been fun, but all things come to an end at some point :')
Man it was really good, tho didn't have as much impact as the finales for the other iDOLM@STER animes but still I'm so happy.
We preview the venue before the main concert starts, we see banners for the idols included and we have New Generation, LiPPS, Sugarmin, and even After20 too and Shino is there as well!!!!!!
We also got to see Chika and Mai attending as audience too!!!!!!
But we go back three weeks before the event happens.....
So the concert is coming up but they didn't get called to attend it which was a shame because they debuted but things happen. As they're walking away from the 346 offices, it's sweltering hot and Arisu happens to fall behind a bit, but would pass by an elderly gentleman who says something and Arisu responds but as she comes back to her sense being called by one of the girls in front, he disappears.
Back at the Third Division Entertainment office, they're a bit slouched and a bit upset that they couldn't get a chance as well, Producer coming in to give news that there isn't anything in plan either and apologizes.
Producer happens to refrain back and watch their "Doremi Factory" performance and the girls are like yeh that was a good time so in the meantime, they decide to come up with something new for their debut.
But amidst all this, we find out that all of a sudden from a last minute notice, a big higher up gives notice that he wants U149 to be included into the live as well!
This sends the whole office into frenzy due to these last minute plans and past idols who will appear in the concert are contacted too about it, of which have had involvement with the U149 lot too and they're happy to have them join in on the concert as well!
Upon writing lyrics still, Producer asks Arisu about a final phrase in it and she mentions about "Looking at a dream" which was a nice finishing touch. Then the manager above comes in to give news about U149's participation into the concert, everyone being very excited and with the new lyrics done, they take the chance to make a new song for it and it's crazy because well, it's only three weeks time, they need to make the song and need to practice and choreograph too
Will they even make it in time???
The girls slump from the hard choreography but they strive for it, and all the measures are made to make them succeed!
We finally get "Hi-FiβDays" make an appearance in this anime too with a montage of them working hard to get to their target!
Even Producer is being shown to be in a better light now as well from his peers too!
We are on the day of the concert now...back to the start of the episode.
In addition to what we saw as well with Chika and Mai attending as audiences, Kozue and Yukimi can be seen too!!!!
We get the past family members that have appeared make an appearance again too!
Backstage at the concert, we see all of the girls on the banner, New Generation making an even more special appearance too as they finally get their appearance in this anime for the first time as well!
It was nice that they helped the girls to calm down and Uzuki making a cute funny face as well to lighten the mood!
It was nice finally seeing Miyu make an appearance but I am very sad Shino didn't get voiced amidst all this but......After20 anime adaptation when????????? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
We also get the Girls Power unit making a reappearance and they're in the concert too, along with Yui Ohta and Seira Mizuki too!
And so it ends. The girls just stare out at the stars near the end of the song in their office like it's really over I can't believe we did that and I really do understand that sort of feeling too because I've performed stuff like an idol as well for school projects ahahah
Business back as usual but now they have some more vigour in them!
We end the episode with "Good day Good night" again but this time with a montage of the girls coming back home and whatnot.
We haven't seen Chie's mum in this anime but she has appeared on an SR of Chie's from Deresute but she makes a reappearance into the franchise too, see look it her!
But that's not all!
Because at the post credits................new idols appear into the episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's Yukimi, Kozue, Chika, and Mai who are new to the Third Entertainment Division!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Chika and Mai are still not voiced after all this πππππππππππππππ
And it just ends like that ahahah
Sad we didn't get any surprise voices this anime but it happens :')
But...that's not all!
We got a commercial as well right at the end and Kozue and Yukimi really will be included in a new episode and even in the cast too being added to their stairs promotional image and having two icons with their heads too!
Just look at it, they made space for Chika and Mai there too ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Tho I think that will be on a bonus episode with the blu-ray or something so I won't be watching that as it airs because I don't have the money to get it so I'll have to wait for the subs for that ahahahah
Will really miss catching this live on air each Wednesday and I am really hopeful that one day After20 will get an anime adaptation too!
It's been a great journey everyone. You won't be seeing me first to talk about each episode for an anime now anymore ahahahahhah
Here is "Good day Good night" again used as the ED, this time with character stills as opposed to the stage zoom back from before:
It's nice getting confirmed that there will be a new episode with Kozue and Yukimi, but we will have to wait for it towards the end of October :')
Really hope season 2 gets confirmed so we can finally have Chika and Mai voiced ahhhhhhhhhh
Second season cannot come any sooner, not only was the performance awesome, Producer brought both Kozue and Yukimi at the very end to make sure the hype levels stay at 11.
The girls finally got to debut, and even used their newly crafted song and dance to go with it and they came out swinging, it was a very nice song and the performance was beautiful, very awesome looking. And to think they were able to debut thanks to that hat wearing old dude who I’m guessing is the president they spoke of, thanks to that lad for sure, really liked his talk with Producer.
It was also cool seeing some other idols backstage, and if I’m not mistaken we also saw the girls from the original Idolmaster show which I have not seen yet, guess I gotta put that on the list now lol. And with U149’s performance being a big success, we got another nice ED showing all the girls going home, along with the after credits showing some new girls joining the group who you could actually see throughout the episode and in the audience during the performance, does this mean Season 2 is coming? I really hope so lol, it’s cool an OVA is confirmed already too.
And that was the end of my first ever Idolmaster anime, and I gotta say I loved it, really enjoyed it. It was a beautiful crafted anime, the art and animation were amazing and the songs and performances were top notch, tho fewer and far between, I think I prefer it that way so the performances are more special. And I really loved how each girl in the show got an episode focusing on them, they were a fun group of girls and they all had their own problems, so it was really nice seeing them work through those issues along with their producer. And one thing that I think was huge in this show was how Producer was just as much part of the show as the idols, he worked his ass off for them and grew a lot over the course of the show just like his idols, I really enjoyed his character. And for a best girl, for me it’s between Haru, Chie and Risa, but I can’t deny they were all great lol.
And with that, my Spring 2023 season is pretty much done with one last show ending next week as summer shows begin, this was a great part of my spring list that I always looked forward to, I hope to watch more Idolmaster anime in the future!
I should be focused by the U149 performance, but darn, a stadium with ceiling projection made me lose a little of focus on them.
I don't know what was the planning of this series, but I wonder about that chandelier part, the girls have different dresses from the performance and the have 4 empty spaces(that should be for the 4 that were introduced at the end). This is making me fear the season 2 being uncertain.
I'm sad that my weekly dose of cute and funny has come to an end, but I loved every single second of this anime. it was everything I could ask for a U149 anime, I couldn't stop myself from πππ at their debut, I was so proud, I love everyone specially Momoka, and I really hope there's more of them like a second season, Kozue and Yukimi would be great to see too, and hopefully they can finally cast someone to give a voice to Mai and Chika.
Too bad this was the last episode, because it was the best one. I love that we got to see Uzuki and (again) Nana for a few seconds, Uzuki's smile was the highlight of the episode for me β€οΈ
This was a nice anime, I hope it gets a 2nd season, after that ending it most likely will.
I'll miss Arisu, Momoka and Miria a lot!
Sorry if my english is bad (γ£Λβ½Λ)γ£~~~
Btw, cry about it.
Huge! Ending it with a performance in front of everyone, their dream has been achieved!
That was my first introduction to Idolmaster series I don't know if I made the right decision to start with this one but it was good anyway... teasing some new girls in the end for a sequel I believe
This is the last 2D Idolm@ster series for now since Milim@s and Shinym@s are now on 3D anime
Kinda hope that the four new member have a voice though I didn't know them since the last Idolm@ster I watch is in Cinderall Girls and a casual Shinym@s player as well, but I hope U149 got a second season with adding the four characters from Third Division
And lastly, MIKA-NEE! MIYU! KAEDE! SHIMAMU my beloved ππ

Kozue and Yukimi had voices for awhile now (and get quite a bit of merch including a figure for each, no standalone CDs though, which is what I was after for like 8-9 years now)

Luckily Kozue and Yukimi will be in a newly made extra episode for U149, which I think a lot of places would probably label it as an episode 13 as well!
Too bad tho this one will be on the 4th last blu-ray coming out with all of the anime, which will be release all the way towards the end of October on the 25th :')
But it's definitely something worth looking forward to!
And who knows............what if during this whole time waiting, they surprise us with Mai and Chika's voices in that special episode too considering in the video notice mentioning the special (which you can find in the after episode spoiler on my first discussion post here), there was space on the flight of stairs for those two when they added Yukimi and Kozue into it π
I'm keeping my expectations low tho, in case they really won't get voiced π
It was enjoyable for it being my first IDOLM@STER anime, granted mostly because all of them were cute lolis, Nina, Momoka and Risa best girls. My only complaint is that I wish the staff would stop using that camera shake effect, I hate it, makes me feel like there is an earthquake or something.
legit one of the best idol animes and i never would've thought i'd be saying that about U149 when it first started was carried by fun characters and amazing directing /visuals plus 10/10 cameos if you are a Ido@mas fan i can't believe they really did hold out showing Shimamu and the gang till the very end shes still doing her best as a top idol
don't doubt we'll get another season but i kinda want a big Cinderella girls season 3 with u149 and the new gen
katsu044 said: i kinda want a big Cinderella girls season 3 with u149 and the new gen
if it's like, u149 along with the of Cinderella Project aside from just new gen I feel that'd be confusing af because of Miria being in u149 but also with Decoration too before π
what we do need especially tho is an After20 anime adaptation tho ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
SakuraHougetsu28 said: omg 3 songs in just one episode, this is the best anime about idols of this season without a doubt!!!
You mean any season, lol.
Idolmaster is a huge franchise and is one of the fore-runner for Idol anime. In fact, Idolmaster series is one of the first series to have a huge group of girls instead of having just 1~3 girls throughout the whole thing.
(tho there is the Xenoglossia, back when Mecha was popular, so they started out the series as a Fantasy school Idol mecha series... lol, then they went with just Idol series based on real world idol industry and it became huge)
It is also one of the few Idol series that isn't based on "school".
___ ___ ___
The Idolmaster series has grown to be quite huge, there are tons of groups in the series now and they still have some groups show up in newer series.

The release date for "Kirameki" on CD and possibly streaming too in full will be on July 5th, which is next Wednesday so it's not a long wait until it comes out!
Did anyone else feel that the final episode felt a little short? Influences of the Macross director who directed that one episode?
In any case, it was a well-deserved showcase for the little idols who have worked very hard to get here, although the differences with the manga were very big.
Since this adaptation was very different from the manga, it is possible that there will not be a second season. HOWEVER, considering the sales and popularity of the series in Japan, and the fact that Cygames controls both the manga publisher and the animation studio of U149, we might have a second season like Uma Musume...although it all depends if Bandai Namco is interested in making one, since this year they have focused on bringing as much idolmaster content as possible like ML and Shiny Colors.
In any case, if there will be an announcement of a second season, it would be in November, on the anniversary of the Cinderella Girls game.

It would be nice if they showed more of the concert (of other groups too)
But they have to fit everything into one episode. So I guess this is the best they could do by making it focused on the actual U149 group.
I really like the U149 series, cause everyone's so cute, LOL. And there's no over-used drama that lasts for like half the season... I like how most of the series is adventure based and the producer trying to do his best for the little ones while balancing their growing up stage.
Arisu is the best Loli, she may act mature, but deep down she's still a cute kid, just look at that part in her bungee jump from before, LOL, it's so cute.
(This is also the reason why I loved the Puchidol series too, even tho that series is pure-fantasy based)

Im actually surprised they didnt change the unit name, i guess
Kinda weird transition into the ending
Ook...so...are we getting some extras or not
So from my understanding, the manga originally has more than 9 girls, which I think is the basis? Though...while I do appreciate all the 9 girls so far, I think you could say the real issue is the lack of episodes, only 12 felt like something was missing.
Overall thoughts, I think its been about more or less, I'm not overtly conflicted, but at the same time like I said, I feel it would have been a lot better if we had been able to balance things out. It's great that the girls managed to get their live performance in the end (gonna have to rewatch ep 10 and 12, and all the others too, which says something about the anime)
Though you could say maybe that it was a little too good to the point it was actually hard to watch.
(Kinda separate point but I found it weird that yorimichi little star was used *Only in EP 1 (and partly in the recap but yeah))
In the end it really is a shame that like almost nobody chose to watch this, hmm. Like EP 10 and 11 hit like a truck too, and while ep 12 had a bit of a weird start and they were kinda rushing for the new song at the end it turned out ok. Very artistic so to speak, and their OP and ED were as well.
EDIT: I didnt read the manga, but it seems the other 4 girls also joined after the first 9.
Also I only just realized that the split of cute/cool/passion is not 333, its actually 234
EDIT: I know its a bit late, but it is a bit funny how we have all the idols, but all the chiefs are men. Hurr
Separately speaking, you know how all the episodes have some fancy title? Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I find it funny that the last episode of all things has the easiest/most obvious answer
Good ending. A bit rushed, but it was nice to see Rin, Mio and Uzuki finally become professional idols, and how the girls finally made it to their debut and performed. So many warm emotions, as if I were attending my daughters' graduation ceremony. IMAS really knows how to tell quality and impactful idol stories.
@HiljainenSipuli The 13th episode is dedicated to them, which unfortunately is a bonus for Blu-ray.
@amlg Correct me, but is Idolmaster actually the most famous idol franchise that made such things a trend? Yes, Love Live is also huge now, but I felt like it all started with the Idolmaster 2 adaptation.

@HiljainenSipuli It still doesn't exist, from what I've read above, it will be released in October.
@RobertBobert That was October last year, the bonus episode with the Blu-ray is already out and available through torrent and whatnot, just that I don't think it's been subbed yet

@RobertBobert Not sure how the main series came abouts with the subs but in this case it's probably gonna be a fansub group who would do the translations and whatnot, not sure if there are any atm but is kind of a surprise if it's been like 9 months since release and still no subs yet ahahahah

@BonBonToro These days have spoiled me a little. I still remember the times when you didn't even have things like Crunchroll and even overhype shows might not have an official translation.

@BonBonToro i found a torrent for that had eng subs for the special(s). the torrent has a recap ep and two specials so i assume one of those two is the special we are talking about
