You don’t have to look very hard to find shows that are A LOT worse. And honestly, even though I recognize the bad aspects, I actually thought this anime was very enjoyable. For some reason it was a fun watch for me, and there are a lot of people in the same boat. I mean, it got enough recognition that it’s getting a second season after all. That’s all, I just thought it was something interesting that I wanted to share. |

| While I think worst anime ever may be going a bit far, I gotta say I almost dropped it tonight after episode 5. Do the fights get any more logical? This was hair pullingly frustrating to watch. I don't wanna spoil for anyone not yet to 5 so I'll use a spoiler for the rest: So @!##%$^ frustrating to watch. Please tell me it gets better. |
| It's not the worst I've watched — because I've watched some horrible animes — but this is bad. The worldbuilding is fine: the empire striking a witch purge and the hunted witches fighting back in a northern country reminds me a bit of The Witcher. Then it brings some additional building with the "founder" and "demons". But they are not really worked on. This is fine, it's an okay setup for a story; which they decide will be about two characters dreaming about peace, in a world ravaged by war. And then... Nope, there is nothing else. They keep dreaming about peace, but no plan is put forward. They meet and fight against some random antagonists, usually being a setup by one of the countries. A forbidden romance starts to arise, but it just keeps at a slow pace so it's not enough content. Up until this point, I would say this is an "5 (Average)" anime. It has some good concepts, just not applied very well. Finally, the plot — how the story moves forward. This is horrible. You need two characters to meet up? No problem, they just decide to go to the same place, at the same time, continuously. They even try to use it as a funny coincidence, and then again and again and again. This show started to lose me when I could no longer believe on what I was being told. It's called lazy writing. The battles follows the same structure: something is a problem, until it isn't. You know they are going to win with something pulled out of thin air. Some good concepts, very pooly executed. It's a 4 for me. And Masamune-kun/High School DxD are just as bad, if not worse. |
| I was hoping people were just overreacting with the negative reviews, but I have to agree with this one. The braindead cyclical plot with one convenient coincidence after another is too much, just like the decision making and motivations of the characters. The story is all over the place and going nowhere at the same time. I made it through the roofie arc in episode 6 and can't take any more of this. Godspeed fellow travellers. |
