So that's the choice that will change her live forever that is referenced in the synopsis huh? Not just her future in education for the foreseeable future but also how her relationship with Marilla and Matthrew will fare especially with their advancing ages.

Marilla's response to the whole thing was very mature and I could really feel what she was feeling. The conversations between Matthew and Marilla were both adorable and melancholic at the same time.

Absolutely excellent. I teared up during this episode. Utterly anxious to see what comes next.

The beginning of this episode showcases exactly why Anne and Gilbert will make such good friends

Ruby and Gilbert are walking together while the other 3 friends are gossiping behind them. We learn that Anne considers Gilbert to be handsome, and that Ruby doesn't like Gilbert all that much because she thinks he is boring because he talks about school and books too much... but all that does is demonstrate for the audience just how perfect Gilbert truly is for Anne. The narrator explains that Anne is envious of Ruby, and that she wants a friend just like Gilbert with whom she can talk about books. The two are simply kindred spirits.

These are the kinds of subtle and perhaps overlooked bits of character development that Akage no Anne excels at.

The slice-of-life scenes in this episode were simply perfect!
That's part of what the new anime had missed, as well as the story development.
