We all know this would happen with weak ratings and like his previous work iron knight Tomohiro Yagi's Red sprite which was a pilot from Jump next and was fully promoted as a series for weekly shonen jump is now cancelled.

And since this series is about to be cancelled and we are about to wait for the now sudden final chapter this week here is a picture i made to commemorate its cancellation ,It shows the weekly shonen jump issue introducing the Red sprite is now stamped with black red fonted cancellation stamp covered in black lightning

I feel sorry for Yagi, his last two series are cancelled ,So i think it's better he should maybe focus on digital webcomic instead maybe seinen about a 17 year old man and his young sibling fighting against evil beings in the darker world much like his first work goblin night. But it should be influenced from lone wolf and cub.Though he should find a real job for a living to fund his own digital webcomic project.

Or maybe he should continue to work in jump or something else to come up with a better idea or at least move to different publishing company to start over but maybe seinen.

Some people didn't a good hit until later on like bnha mangaka, if he doesn't get it by the 4th try then he should move on from jump.

Too bad, I thought it had a decent start and potential to become good later on.
Wonder what kind of ending is in store for us.

Yeah,I thought Tomohiro Yagi would get a second chance with red sprite but with weaker ratings it didn't.

SJ is the elite of the elite. Once you get in, you better not let your ratings drop, or your ass is canned. It's a shame, too, because I actually liked Red Sprite...

I was just comparing the two. E→Robot and Love Rush were both canceled. Yamamoto, Ryouhei made it

Both mangaka had their work canceled

Well, it's a shame that 's cancelled. This story had potential I hope Yagi get's serialized again soon. Let's hope that future Jump series ( like Demon's Plan ) don't get the axe like this.

this manga while kind of predictable still had a lot of potential same as the big three. I think they have to at least give a manga 20-25 chapters. Because the latest chapter had so much momentum in it this is saddening

Maybe but it looks different and will probably keep on running in about four or five years.

That is a silly reason to axe the series, that has brought a breath of fresh air in shonen jump. They denied snk, I doubt they will make the same mistake again.

Even if you dont like it, at least give it props for being different from the rest, shounen jump has started to realize that the audience is now more into darker tone series, than battle shounen or harem manga for eg, time is changing, shounen jump isn't the power house as it once was, and now they are finally realising it.

On topic, I drop this series after reading about 20 pages, it is your run of the mill series. Not surprise at all.

You have a good point there, shounen jump are tired of doing usual cliche stuff on every series that they need another series to be different than the rest.

we've already talked about this before... jump always lancuhing gritty stuff consistently before and after SNK exist... it's just they rarely welcomed by WSJ readers... it still doesn't stop WSJ to publish them once in a while...

however, currently, it has 3 existing gritty stuff, yakusoku no naverland, kimetsu no yaiba, and ibitsu no amalgam... and look like amalgam rangking also decent... new series also look gritty... dunno if it both of this will fall or not... if anything, it look like readers taste that changed...

well, it has interesting start, even still good with main villian introduction... afterwards is when it starting goes downhil...

well, kimetsu no yaiba is like vampire hunting series if anything, but instead of vampire, it was demon... but what make it feel really strange is story telling... it has really heavy influence of novelity with a lot of poetry, instead usual direct manga story telling... i can'd said sure it will welcomed by comunity or not...

amalgam of distortion is usual action secret agency vs secret evil organitation... i still don't sure where the series lead into...

and the newest gritty series is demon's plan, which is survival game...

Well that sounds pretty bad, although I haven't read the manga myself but I was planning to since it got some decent reception on my end and the feedback from twitter a bit and Facebook.

Apparently this is the mangaka's second time where his work got axed, and that in itself is pretty sour if you ask me.

You are kidding abt that amalgam ranking right? This week it had its first official ranking https://www.reddit.com/r/JumpMag/comments/5e8hp8/weekly_shonen_jump_52_rankingstoc/?st=ivz2hy7x&sh=33e6950c

Mark my words, this will be the next series to get axed.

Demon's plan also looks meh, I see a current trend where authors are trying to load their early chapters(red sprites did that too) but fails ultimately. The pacing was off in the first chapter too.

Bnha author got through by the fourth time, maybe one more time and he should move on to another magazine.

i though it well received since it got clolour page... wel i have to taking back my words.... good bye...

i didn't really like it either... it's as cliche as it get about secret agency...

still wondering why it haven't translated in english thou... i have to take it from my native translation...

Frostbytes said:

i can't judge demon's plan yet... too early... we still didn't see where the plot goes and where the story into and what kind it will focused, just basic survival advanture settings.... i prefer to wait...

however, red spirit does load plenty things in first chapter, but it's not always bad... what make them bad it can't maintence the hype it made in the first chapter...

remember black clover? remember how fast first chapter went? but look their position now... they can maintance the hype...

now take a look at kimetsu no yaiba, the first chapter was soo slow even some following chapter afterwards... so, the nice build up the hype also works...

Out Topic:

the new series (Ore Golazo) is sport seires (football)? interesting choice... i though they will chose either romance (after love rush got axed) or comedic slice of life (after kochikame end)... so, they have 4 sports series currently.... is this mean they also got olympic influence or what?

also just realize toriko already ended previous week... what kind of series will replace it spot also interesting to wait...

I really liked Red Sprite. It's a shame it's being cancelled. I liked how there was the main boy, but then he was gathering up the other characters. A bit of a change from one character just being awesome the whole time. It was just getting more interesting with the plasmarrows on the opposing side and the ash warriors, too! I would definitely have read more of it.
