I had the same thought. They should have kept the prior ending theme until that arc was over.

Weirdly enough:
They changed the outro with episode 40, but kept the intro until episode 45.

Overall a rather sad decision by the mangaka. She introduced the character who turns out to be Sanas father and is right on here wavelenght, just to make him have a terminal illness. And then the whole thing isn't even written that well.

I would have prefered if he had been introduced later on in the show and had stayed in Sanas life for good.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, they could've done a much better job as not to make it so tonally jarring.
