| Silence doesn't have to be completely silent does it? Cause Ed (From Cowboy Bebop) is too freaking hliarious, but rarely ever says anything that contributes. Not very silent, in the sense of sound waves or movement, but silent in that she never speaks of the plot. She's always messing around :) - Just a suggestion. | My favorite is and probably always will be Yuki. Mai comes in at a close second. Some of my other favorites are Rider (Fate/stay night), Chiaki (Minami-ke), and, of course, Rei (Evangelion). |

| ... mute is the same thing as silent... unless they make noise... screeches and sickening scratches with extra long fingernails making that ugh sound... then no... but afaik mutes are same as silent. They don't talk. :D |

| Yes, but the silent girls I am thinking of either just have difficulties explaining what they feel or they don't feel anything they find worth explaining. Their way of communication is still with their voice. Shion communicates through other means, so to me it is different. I've never watched the Shion no Ou anime. I've only read the beginning of the manga. I wouldn't know of any "inner monologues" |
