I loved the drinking duel and how Silva managed to escape with his share (and not more!) in the end. For the last episode I'm expecting some closure and to see Jim's mom again. |

| So you finally see and find out who the beautiful dark-skinned woman on the MAL cover is, interesting to see she's Silver's wife. I feel like the last episode will get sad on me. Been an amazing journey and adventure so far! |

| Nice conclusion to the character arc of John Silver, he escapes without telling anyone just like a true pirate would do and he has a beautiful wife to boot ! This talk about what matters the most to him was also incredibly good |

| In the book three pirates are marooned on the island; Jim and the others knew they were there but decided they were too dangerous to allow back onto the ship although they leave them as many supplies as they can spare out of mercy (which is much more than Ben Gunn had when he began his 10 years on the island). When the pirates realize they're being left behind as the ship leaves they beg for mercy and then finally fire a shot after the ship in spite, the final testament to their bad natures. The subs I'm watching made an error; after Jim says they'll give the treasure to the Crown (which does not happen in the book) he says "she" will decide who gets it, but this story takes place sometime around the middle of the 18th Century or a little later so one of the four sucessive Kings George would be on the English throne. I think Robert Louis Stevenson would not be amused this series has Jim get drunk on rum and allow Silver to escape after putting so much in the book against drunkenness! In the book they don't need Silver's help to hire additonal crew at a Spanish American port go ashore themselves to do it and Silver escapes by talking Ben Gunn, who had been left to watch him, into it. I think there's the idea that Gunn was afraid of him and wanted him gone. He takes a bag of coins but this is plainly a theft rather than taking "his share" of the treasure. Silver's wife is mentioned in the book but does not appear, so changing that is pretty clear way of adding something to this adaptation. |
