Does School Days count? Couldn't watch anime for a couple of days because of...the experience...

I actually quit a little after watching something great. Trying to retain that great show the most I can.
Bad shows kinda encourage me to keep looking for something better.

You quit after Yosuga no Sora? Pansy.

Wanted to take a break after watching the ending of Oreimo, but I just couldn't go to sleep at night knowing that that was the anime I last watched.

None. Since I've started anime, none I've watched has made me want to quit. Not even for a little while. Something else, on the other hand, can have me stay away from anime for a while. Up until a while ago, it was PES 2014, but the fucking referee was such an asshole, I'm back again.

Not sure if this counts, but I was a huge fan of Dragonball when I was younger and was interested in watching more anime. Then I tried Naruto and hated it. I thought to myself 'If a show like this attract so many people anime fans must be easy to please'. Not to mention I already knew first hand just how awful the fanbase was. The fact that I knew of the existence of hentai and Ikkitousen didn't help matters.

I eventually got into anime many years later after finding out about the slice of life genre and realising that Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist and most other shonen stuff was far better than Naruto.

I thought GTA 5 would keep me away from anime but it didn't

I believe it counts? Because of it I threw a fit that lasted a few days.

Hmm~ Da Capo Second Season made me pause the anime world for a week. I personally hoped for the guy to go on Nemu's route. I was too scared to find out who the guy will end up with, so I went on a mini hiatus. it was all I could think about!

I can't say I've ever seen an anime so bad that it made me want to quit watching anime altogether.

Weird... I loved Please Teacher..... Anyway as for the topic, that's never happened to me before. Sure I've disliked certain anime a lot, but it's never pushed me to the point where I'm like "ok, no more anime for me", and I don't see why it ever would to be honest.

For me it was quite the opposite. I wanted to watch something else immediately after so that I could forget about it asap.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Similar to what I did. I watched School Days in a day then went onto begin watching some Mushi-Shi just to calm me down

if you wouldnt have expectations when watching anime that have an ecchi tag, you never get dissapointed, and you never feel like leaving anime.

Probably why most ecchi shows on my list arent rated that bad...

But I do leave anime for games, or I watch less for games, I dont leave it for good tough.

I don't think I've ever really taken a "break" from anime

Not one though, but watching 2-3 horrible anime one after another makes me want to start watchting t.v series/films instead of another anime.

Bleach. After a certain point watching the dreadfully slow-paced fights, I knew the anime was becoming a waste of time when the filler was more interesting than the canon episodes.

I had to take a month or two to recover from a low point with anime there.

Dance in the Vampire Bund was awful.

But I already favour manga over anime, so hiatuses are normal.

NHK and Evangelion will kinda make you want to stop watching anime.... in a good way though

As for really bad series, I'd say Mirai Nikki, it might sound similar to Death Note and Steins;Gate which you liked but it's really, really bad. Watching that and Guilty Crown when they aired 2 years ago made me think very badly of modern anime, given how those totally butcher the premises of my favorites

Sword Art Online. I heard so many good things, but I ended up getting tentacle raped by it. Terrible IMO. I also lost faith in humanity, since a lot of people seemed to think it was the best anime ever.

Probably a generic anime like To Aru Index, you realize how all the current anime has the same shitty cliches. :(

I paused Death Note in a week after L's death, i was in a shock and couldn't move on. He was my favourite character, and then he just died. So sad.
