| OP, if you think that Naruto and One Piece are the longest running anime, then you're wrong. They may be the longest running battle shonen, but not the longest running anime. And One Piece ain't ending anytime soon. According to Oda, they only just reached the halfway line 3 years ago in the manga and Oda is the same guy who planned to end One Piece in 5 years time. 9988 said: It has not been created yet, no successor of One Piece or Naruto exists. Actually Ansatsu Kyoushitsu will sell more than Naruto once it gets an anime. It's already selling like mad, so I guess JUMP has already found a replacement for Naruto. I do not see Assassination Classroom becoming the huge phenomena OP and Naruto are, even when I am aware its has beaten OP in rankings. It really lacks the traits to become the next Naruto or OP: no epicness (@ OP/Naeruto/OP level), not unique highly stylized characters which are 2 of the some of the most important traits to become a phenomena of epic proportions, so no I dont see it in the same sense OP became the successor of DBZ. AS is more like a Gintama or Beelzebub than OP/Naruto/Bleach. This is the same reason kick ass series like Hunter x Hunter or Yuyu Hakushu or Toriko are successful but have never and will not become the huge international phenomenons OP or Naruto and BDZ or Saint Seiya (in europe and latin america) before them were. So in short we are in agreement than no replacement for OP exist and that JUMP does not need one urgently. But I doubt AS will even reach Naruto popularity levels worldwide, I dont doubt it can match Naruto or become its replacement in Japan for JUMP sales wise, but popularity levels are another thing entirely, so I dont believe a replacement for Naruto either exists yet. |

I do agree that AssClass will probably not gain the fame that Naruto has, but with sales it's quite possible. We all know that manga get jumps in sales when it gets an anime. AssClass sells around 500k per volume. With a good enough anime adaption, it could easily get another 500k, which would put it in a million, which is what Naruto averages. But yeah, it probably won't get gain the same popularity that Naruto, One Piece and Bleach has. |
