Wow did they really turn on him or is this just what Kaiji is imagining whating happened. I didn't think that they would turn on him honestly after all he did. I mean even if he did lie he spent like 70 million or so just to pay for their debts, so why would he even do that if he wanted to lie about having 200+million. I'm still wondering if Kaiji is just imagining this conversation, but we will see.

I think that's a thing it actually happened, because they have this "flashback" borders.

I hope those two will get a painful lesson in the end.

I haven't been commenting since their betrayal was spoiled for me, so let me just say now these recent chapters have been incredible. I loved the fact that he thought of Furuhata's & Andou's betrayal from the Rock, Paper, Scissors game & everything is progressing naturally. The spoiler only mentioned they betrayed him so I enjoyed finding out that, at the very least, they don't they're crippling him here. Doesn't mean I'm happy about it or with them but I don't hate them nearly as much as I thought I would.

& it clearly happen, we saw the transition of the flashback from Miyoshi's thought bubble & at the end of the chapter he gave us an internal monologue about betraying Kaiji (though he thinks they've been betrayed).

Wow, I did not expect a gut punch of such proportions. And I like the continuity with all the previous arcs! And of course Kaiji is too trusting... he's too optimistic. But that's why we all love him. He may be an idiot, but that's just because he's too good for this world.

Go, Kaiji! When no one else does, I believe in you! If you can't turn this around somehow, then at least you'll win it big next time! (...before losing it all again of course, we are talking about the Kaiji series after all)

What a rollercoaster of emotions! I love it!

Miyoshi, I can't believe this, you traitor.
I just want Kaiji to give everyone that's done this to him what they deserve.
The previous chapters where Kaiji was arguing with himself and kept interrupting himself with "but two straight wins!" were amazingly written. Fukumoto is so talented.
Win this Kaiji. Come on man. You got this.

kaiji got betrayed again, man can't catch a break.

those greedy bastards don't even remember when kaiji divided the 18 million perica fairly between them, and iirc they also got 100k yen after the pachinko event.

40 million now probably will be gone in a few chapters, luckily kaiji still has 1 million yen iinm

I hope this is just a scenario of what could've happened and not an actual flashback of a betrayal.

I think in the last chapter that Kaiji was overestimating Miyoshi and Maeda's intelligence in being able to alert him about his tiles being seen without blowing their cover.

And back in the 49ers or w/e arc Maeda and Miyoshi were surprised that Kaiji would even help them to the extent that he did so them turning on him now seems really farfetched. Like back in the boat arc it was Kaiji who essentially pulled all the weight and did everything and he really didn't owe the others much at all.

I hope this wasn't a betrayal. If it is then it seems like the mangaka's moral of the story is to no ever trust anyone for any reason at all.

What a jerk you are to be spoiled and then come here to confirm it for others. I hope you didn't spoil me and just did not read ahead or understand what comes later properly. Nothing has been set in stone by this chapter.

I do actually care a good deal about not spoiling others, hence why I stopped commenting once the possibility of betrayal was brought up until I thought they confirmed it because I don't want to ruin others experiences. So because of your comment I went back and re-read several chapters to see if I commented too soon because if I had, I'd have to edit my post and request that you edit yours to remove the spoilers, I've done this before because I've messed up before.

But like having re-read it, they were 100% confirmed to have betrayed Kaiji in this chapter. Arguably, they were in Chapter 62, as the narrator explicitly states this, and the narrator's a lot of things but a liar isn't one of them. That's why he then leads into explaining Kaiji's trap, which we know for 100% sure that Kaiji trap went off in the chapter. The tiles were moved, and neither Miyoshi or Maeda tried to signal anything to Kaiji. But I didn't comment in 62 because I knew my foreknowledge might be tainting my perception because you're right, Kaiji could've just be over-estimating Miyoshi & Maeda. I didn't even comment in chapter 63, despite Kaiji realizing more warning signs that they were setting him up.

I waited until chapter 64, which has the narrator once more explicitly confirm it (to establish the dramatic stakes of the situation, there's no other reason to reinforce it), but more importantly has Miyoshi himself confirm it. The flashbacks throughout this chapter weren't just scenario of what could've happened, it was presented as what did happened. We hear Miyoshi's thoughts this chapter, corroborating the story being told. Notice how the bottom-right panel lacks any of the checkered panel with Kaiji present in the foreground, that means what Miyoshi's thinking is currently happening, and those thoughts lead into the scenario continuing. Having Miyoshi reflect on it in the present is confirming the scenario as canon.

Also, the chapter ends with having Miyoshi justify betraying Kaiji by telling himself it won't harm Kaiji due to Kaiji's "wealth", and that it's only natural since he scammed them first. There's no reason to show a what-if thought process for Miyoshi in the present day to justify him betraying Kaiji. How is Miyoshi thinking about how he's in the right for betraying Kaiji at the end of the chapter not setting it in stone that he betrayed Kaiji?

The reason I mentioned being spoiled in the first place is because I want my comments to be authentic to my experience, nothing's experienced in a bubble so it feels wrong to not point out something that definitely influenced how I experienced something. But I don't want to do that at the expense of someone else's enjoyment and while I think I definitely proved that didn't actually spoil anything since this chapter does make the betrayal crystal clear if the last two chapters haven't, I still did technically spoil you because for whatever reason you didn't didn't see that. I do feel bad about that, it's part of why I took so long to respond because I wanted to make sure you had finished the series since it seemed like you had some hope at the end that I was mistaken, and doing this whole thing would just confirm it further as I have since finished the series. And even though I'm defending myself, this does feel kinda mean. So yeah, if you think I'm still a jerk for doing this, I'm fine with that, but I'm not a jerk for the spoiler thing.
