How to make anime "trickle down"?

There's an argument against the idea of gatekeeping that "You can’t stop people from watching anime. You can’t even stop them from posting about it online."
I go even beyond that: You can't stop people from watching or posting about anime... because they're already NOT doing this.

Y'all know my opinions about how anime isn't mainstream and people don't watch it, so I won't say it again, but I also even joke that the most effective of "gate-keeping" would make "make so people would have to watch and talk about anime".
People aren't really watching anime, they're watching 5-6 titles, maybe 10 at most, that just happen to be anime, and this doesn't trickle down into watching other stuff, becoming lifelong fans or get into the culture.

How could this be solved? How could there be an "anti-gatekeeping"?

These gatekeepers are just people whom like to hide anime from people whom they discover this someone has different view than them.

These gatekeepers are the people discovering for the first time in their life a fact in which everyone are different and has different perspective and cannot comprehend this.

Also anime is mainstream, if this wouldn't then Japanese publishers would not create their subsidiaries in which specializes in bringing manga to the rest of the world such as Shueisha-shogakugan with viz media back in 1986 and also anime was already very mainstream in europe outside us as far back as in 70s.
