I noticed that this is the 16th best selling manga of 2025 so far, and has already sold 1 million copies in 2025 alone despite not having an anime yet. This makes me think that this will be the next big thing.

Just how good is Kagurabachi compared to stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen, Kimetsu no Yaiba and Dandadan?

Of these three, I’ve only read Demon Slayer, but I have seen all of these in anime form (though I’m a few episodes behind on Dandadan).

Speaking for me personally, Kagurabachi is my 2nd or 3rd favorite of these 4, though it could very easily rise to 1st given how consistent it is. I’d say that consistency is the manga’s biggest strength behind its phenomenal action, so depending on how much you value those things, this might be your favorite of the 4.

I like it and it's definitely going to be the next big thing when the anime releases. I like JJK more so far, but it's still good and has potential to get even better. It had a pretty weak start imo but it kept improving and hopefully it won't stop.

It’s my most looked forward to weekly read so I’d say it’s pretty good , kinda starts off cliche but then it turns into something so epic

I think it has the potential to be the next big shonen title. The story and magic system are solid and really interesting. It has the action to catch people’s attention the way the three titles you mentioned have. As long as it gets a good studio to treat it with love I think it’ll be a popular anime. Personally I hope it’s a while longer before the adaptation lands so that there’s time to publish a bit more of the manga.

it's okay. there's only one character that makes me look forward to reading it and that's samura, though there's a new one called hokuto who has potential. dandadan is a lot better.

I've been reading but I'm not that into it. I do see a future where Kagurabachi sits at the top after all the current big names are over like One Piece, etc. Which would be pretty cool imo

In terms of writing I'd definitely put it above all those you listed though

Kagurabachi is honestly really solid! The art is clean, the fights feel intense, and it’s got that dark edge that reminds me a bit of early JJK. It’s still pretty new compared to Jujutsu or Kimetsu, but the fact it’s selling this well without an anime says a lot.

the beginning is tough to read but it gets better and better, seems like the author have a lot of ocidental influences you can see that mainly in fight scenes. it's a great manga it's worth a try

people review bomb it to prevent the prerelease hype about it being the GOAT. But honestly it’s a solid 9 or even a 10. I have it as a ten right now

It's a solid 8/10 for me so far, I like it about the same as Dandadan, and more than Demon Slayer and JJK.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.

Better than JJK More adult than DS. IDK why Dandan is even bunched in with these but Kagurabachi is better. It's going to be big for anime fans. Hard to say how big because anime stocks are down but it'll be big for the people who care

That's on you. It was chapter 7 or 8 when I knew it would be huge. It was like a Tarantino movie in a manga.

@DayRivia well "that's on you" too lol it took me 50 chapters to start thinking it can be good, and after paused at 60 and returned to read idk why but it looked so much better I can't explain. I ended up reading the whole thing and now I'm thinking about reading it from the beginning again

@Tithain How would you compare to peak JJK ? By peak JJK I mean the hidden inventory/premature arc. The themes, character development for Geto/Gojo was great story writing. Does it do the other stuff outside fighting really well ?

@wekatire I also think Hidden Inventory is JJK's best arc, so I don't think Kagurabachi has reached that level, at least so far. As of now, there are 3 major arcs in Kagurabachi, the last of which is still ongoing. The first one I found pretty weak honestly, but the second one really showed the potential of the manga as it introduced some good characters, a great conflict and an interesting villain. The current big arc is getting a bit chaotic but it's had some truly great moments and introduced two really good characters.

I still find JJK's action and power system to be superior, and story wise a lot of JJK's strength was in its unpredictability and wild swings, something Kagurabachi isn't really doing much of. I also think that at its best, JJK's characters had more personality and charisma. But there are great characters in Kagurabachi as well, especially in the latest arc that has a couple of amazing character moments and expands on the main conflict in many interesting ways.

I hope my ramblings can help, it's not easy to talk about this stuff without any context or spoiler. If you like JJK I definitely recommend Kagurabachi, just don't go in with unrealistic expectations and if you're on edge, try to push through the first 20 chapters because it gets much better later.

I dont read Dandadan so I'm just gonna rate JJK, DS and Kagurabachi.

Since its unfair to compare the three of them because JJK and DS had a lot more chapters already published. So what we're going to do is to compare the first 100 chapters of each manga.

Artwork : Kagurabachi = JJK >>> DS

Characters : DS >>> JJK >>> Kagurabachi

Plot : They're all mid on the plot aspect.

Storytelling : they're all equal

Paneling (visual storytelling through page layout) : Kagurabachi >>> JJK >>> DS

Overal writing : They're all had a mid writing in the first 100 chapters of the manga.

Overall, I enjoyed the first 100 chapters of Kagurabachi rather than the first 100 chapters of JJK or DS. Mainly because the author has a very good paneling and a pretty good artwork.
