@Tithain What are you talking about. Denji's had literally 0 development. He's the same character that he was in chapter 1.

Development doesn't mean becoming a different character. He hasn't reached the goals he had at the beginning, so he's still chasing them.

@Tithain You don't need to "achieve your goals" (in this case what... Have sex ? ) in order for your character to have some personal growth. Growth is gradual not instantaneous. In 200+ chapters, he's not gotten any closer to relating to other people valuing his friends or growing more mature, despite him technically being in a relationship at least 2 times. It's just bad writing bro, just admit it.

Sorry, I won't. His character stayed consistent all the way through, he reflected many times about what he wants and what keeps him going. Right now he's simply at his lowest point so that's what he has to cling to. How is he supposed to "grow mature" when he's a teenager constantly being deprived of connections and thrown around in a world that's falling apart? He's not as dumb as you make him, he knows he's being manipulated, but having lost everything and not even knowing what he could or should do to make this mess any better, of course he has to jerk off in his bed to feel anything resembling joy.

@Tithain See I used to think that the first 200 chapters, and gave Fujimoto leeway, trying to "read between the lines" but there aren't any instances where he'd hint that that's the case. At this point it's just make believe on your part to justify shitty writing. Absurdism only works, when there's an anchor point that people can relate to. STD devils, and a stagnant MC , characters singing American anthem about bombs, honestly, Fire Punch was so much better than this. It just seems Fujimoto doesn''t know how to write long stories. So now it's just thought diarrhea of loose euphemisms that have no cohesion or in this case even consequences. Characters come and go and come back with no rhyme or reason, and it's just getting really exhausting bro.

Bro is just bad at long term storytelling. Fire Punch and especially his One Shots are so much better at this point than this.

@Rindoukan So, what exactly did Fire Punch do better? I love that manga, but it's precisely what you're complaining about, a fever dream stream of abusrdity. And while I do think CSM has been feeling more FP-like lately than it used to, it's always had what you call "absurdism". What's wrong with the STD devil? That's definitely something people fear. Same goes for Yoru being fond of America, it's pretty straightforward. It's also strange that you mention this stuff and then ask for consquences since it was introduced last chapter or a few chapters back.

Honestly, I'll judge the "long-term storytelling" when part 2 is over. The story has been going in a direction that does not allow Denji to "grow mature" or became a shonen hero, and I respect Fujimoto's decision here. You don't have to like it, but that doesn't make it bad writing. And those who disagree with you aren't doing any make believe, they just see it differently.

Well I am only reading to see how it finishes but holly was this chapter useless because of how much nothing was said. People saying lore dump, either need to read part 2 from beginning or something else. Because surprise death devil does want to exterminate the humans, but she isn’t the main evil here. Literally the other girl is using his stupidity/gooning against him because most of what she said makes zero sense and contradicts many points. But here we are, the readers and fans of CSM never cease to amaze me with how they believe it…

Anyways CSM part 2 just confirmed how it went JJK. Hope it fixes course in next chapter because bro, these 2 chapters are the meaning of character regression and nothing burger in story telling.
