The official website of the Medalist television anime unveiled the production staff, teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video for the second season on Sunday. The new season is scheduled to premiere on TV Asahi's NUMAnimation programming block in January 2026.

New staff includes Hazuki Nakamura as art director, replacing Youko Nakao and Kentarou Kashiwagi (Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai) replacing Shinichi Yoneya as director of photography. Takasumi Miura replaces Kouki Kanbe as animation producer.

Yasutaka Yamamoto (Noblesse) returns to direct the second season at ENGI. Jukki Hanada (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is in charge of the series composition and script. Chinatsu Kameyama (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. 2) is designing the characters and Yuuki Hayashi (Haikyuu!!) is composing the music.

Medalist adapts Tsurumaikada's sports drama manga, which began in Afternoon magazine in May 2020. Kodansha shipped the 13th volume on June 23.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in March 2021 and shipped the 12th volume on June 17.

I wonder if season two will get to the time skip where the girls are essentially older teenagers.

@tragedydesu

agreed, the CGI use for the most part made no sense

I saw lots of ppl justifying it because "it's hard to animate elaborate performances" and yada yada
Issue is that episodes were like 20 minutes drawn where there were several elaborate scenes with characters spinning around and doing tricks full drawn, but then for the 30 second scene with music, random CGI

I hope too they just forgo it completely, it's unnecessary for this anime...

@FullyCharged The CGI in this anime didn't even look bad tbh, would it have been better if they fully 2D animated everything? Yeah, but the production was already struggling as is and it still seems to be the case.

It was already better animated than the usual seasonal anime which tend to be full of still frames whenever possible. Is there really a need to complain about it? I find it to be a non issue given the type of show this is.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.
