So I just found out (correct me if I'm wrong) that after season 2, the novel will essentially be fully adapted. So that means... no season 3?... ever?????

Broooooo, just as soon as it started getting really good. It's like, are we ever gonna find out what happens between Kobato and Osanai??? Their character dynamic and chemistry were so good I gotta know what happenssss.

I haven't watched Hyouka, but I'm now starting to understand the pain Hyouka fans have to go through :)

Season 2 adapted upto 5 volumes. In total there are 6 volumes so there is 1 more novel but I don't know how much of a closure it can give to you.

There's one left but that's Short stories collection. We have to wait until author writes another few volumes

@Ruthless_Lord Yea it looks like the best case scenario we'll get an OVA for volume 6

@Safuan12616 How often are volumes being released? Didn't it start publishing in 2004?

I was going to watch "Hyouka". But does it has an open ending? Should I not watch if I don't like cliffhanger & loose endings?

V1 & V2 published in 2004 & 2006. v3 & v4 published in 2009. v5 published in 2020 & V6 published in 2024. If author follows v5 & V6 gap then it'll be 2028. It's not constant.

@Ruthless_Lord def u should........though it feels unfinished but it ended the right way not too little neither too much--- there is a clear difference in hyouka when comes to character writting than shoshimin despite that both are episodic and full of suspense buildiing moments but unlike shoshimin there is no ongoing plot in hyouka ....................hyouka is a nostalgia factor for me so Im very biased here. As u watch it the first time its deffinately enjoyable oh! one more thing CHITADA IS CURIOUSLY the best Girl

Hyouka is the same thing but funnier and prettier. But I think this one has better VAs, since I don't remember the Hyouka ones at all lol.

Anyway, there is no cliffhanger in Hyouka, they are ... there, and just ends.

Realistically might not see another season. It takes the author roughly a decade to release 3 volumes, so there is a small chance of another season within the next 20 years. Maybe an OVA every 5 years or something. Hope the anime is popular enough to motivate the author work directly with animation studios. Even then, the story quality might drop due to time constraints.

I felt the same way too. However, just like everything else, good things must come to an end.

I said this once in another forum, but I'll say it again. Once you finished watching it, I suggest you give the novel a read. Because you'll find contents that are cut from the anime. In this season 2 in particular, some side mysteries were cut as the anime want to focus and highlight the arson case as the main dish. Other things include Kobato's inner monologues and thoughts. When you read it, you'll realise how his mind works and how he found truth of the mystery.

I promise you that it'll be a different experience, beside you'll find new things that the anime didn't adapt ;)

Hyouka has manga that goes past anime material and novels are fantranslated.

There's a feasible possibility that they'll adapt the 5th volume, which is a bunch of short stories from what I heard, into an OVA. OR they could go ahead and do an anime original movie sequel depicting their continued lives in college as a more extra-fulfilling conclusion to the series at least anime-wise. Remember that entrance exams were mentioned during this final arc, meaning that both Jogoro and Yuki are graduating really soon. The story of their high school lives is basically over, but the novel series itself is still listed as currently ongoing.

@RalSterdutacoS Don't really get why people think this way. Surely I'd LOVE to get S2, but the way S1 ended was pretty good.

I mean, it's pretty clear IMO that

Definitely watch it. It definitely deserves continuation, but it doesn't end with cliffhanger. You, just like me and many, would simply want to enjoy the world and characters more.

I've seen over 600 anime and you can bet anime has to be very special to get on my favorites list (since it's 10 fav.anime only on MAL), yet Hyouka managed to get that spot. Had it on my "plan to watch list" for years, but when I did watch it, I absolutely loved it!

Meh, the novel is NOT over, so by definition, by logic, the anime isn't finished either.
We just have to wait a looooong time.

I'm sorry to disappoint but there has not been anything written past the last episode. Everything missing is from before so I don't think it will get adapted.

Lapin Track skipped the 5th so the adaptation already caught up to the most recent volume. It's strange you didn't realise, since the title includes 'chocolate bonbon'.

It's had been a month since I saw that first 7 episodes had adapted 2 Volumes and there are still some episodes left. I figured 3 or 5 more episode will adapt 1 more Vol. That was the only thing that I remembered, all the other details, I didn't cared much. Not that I know why I am explaining this anyway.
