@ajw215799 Well that's just how it went in real life. People wanted Oguri to run in the Japanese Derby but Oguri's trainer missed the registration date and so Oguri was unable to compete, instead having to take part in different competitions.
@deltahalo241 That was a horse… we’re talking here about a fictional character in a show which it makes no sense why she is being punished for not knowing about having to register for the Nippon Derby combined with the fact she came from a different prefecture.

@ajw215799 This version of the character and the show may be fiction, but they still follow the real life events that the horse experienced pretty closely

@deltahalo241 there’s no reason for them to do so, especially when it doesn’t actually work on a narrative level

There's every reason for them to do so, or the work will be panned by Japanese fans for throwing away the lore of their favorite horse. Furthermore, it takes away the beauty of the moment where TM Opera O, another to-be legend, manages to be the first horse to take advantage of the Oguri Cap rule.

In this story, they also used the example of Maruzensky, who wasn't allowed to race in the classics, but his son managed to. But Maruzensky is a big name nonetheless. It also works on a narrative level, because ep 9 aim was to use Rudolf as the representation of the average public who thought: "if there was Oguri there, the grey monster might have surpassed all of them".

Just to reiterate, this is a tribute to the horse that made horse racing so popular in Japan in the first place. Changing prime events in their career or surrounding their career would be taken as an insult.

@MegamiRem you get to enter the Derby only once. She missed her opportunity, but the restriction would be lifted for the next GOAT after her.

She indeed broke the rules nevertheless as she declared.
But she didn't even enter once though?

But if she can't anymore then that'd explain the sad atmosphere of the episode and people and it really is gonna be sad that she missed her oppurtunity.

Yeah, I meant the registration chance comes only once.

Realistically a horse career peak ranges for around 3 years, so people didn't object that much regarding the rules.

Side fact: Sakura Chiyono O's elder, Sakura Star O passed away two weeks before the Derby. He was already a double crown, so it's as if Chiyono fulfilled his Derby dream.

Well done these Japanese, they first deceived us and then in the end they showed us the harsh reality. Oh well! It was almost certain that in the end the protagonist could not participate in the most prestigious event with all the best runners, but it's okay anyway, because the narration was exciting anyway and this satisfies me quite a bit. I can't wait for there to be a direct challenge between Oguri cup and Tamamo cross.

@victoriab03 that's just what horse racing is around the world, not just in Japan. The classic races, also known as the race for Triple Crown, is held to determine the best racer of a generation.

The onslaught of requests for Oguri Cap to join the Japanese Derby, as much as Symboli Rudolf had her hand signing along with the petition to allow Oguri Cap to make the cut despite URA's regulations not allowing to bend for a single racer whose fame has brought public outcry. And the decision from the board...to allow her to make a scene bearing the position of Kasamatsu's Cinderella, that will absolutely not happen.

The once-in-a-lifetime race for everyone involved and with high stakes on the line, for every horsegirl who've attempted the race and tries to win on the slightest of margins that's too close to call, pushing the limits ever further to clinch the title-winning race...that goes to Sakura Chiyono O. However, all's not lost for Oguri Cap clinching the smaller titles, as the realization that she'll be at the top, the dream is still time away, but it's in time to come.

The Introductory stages are over, it's time to get to the meat of the stuff.

Guess all this reporter's lobbying is doing something to linger in their heads 🤔 effort is nice. Rip to all the Umas who were prohibited from joining races for X or Y reason. Rudolf even sticking her neck out now.

W for the Cinderella Cap, got in. Altho the competition is much steeper than the average racers. Sakura spurt in the Derby is real. But none of that can match the dreams of the Cap. Cap solos- ... nothing I guess. We're robbed 😔 by the board

But I guess Cap can keep winning elsewhere.

Wow, absolutely fell for it, totally thought that the Japan Derby was Oguri's win, but it was all just a hypothetical scenario - a what if they changed the rules just for Oguri. Of course it wasn't meant to be as the Japanese are very strict with their rules and hardly ever make exceptions.

Wow so Oguri winning was just a dream that never actually happened in reality. Why would they do us like that... She clearly would have won if only she was allowed to take part in the race.

Did I get bamboozled? What the fuck? I thought the association allowed her to participate in Nippon Derby on the condition that she couldn't actually win. You know, let her race just to give the public what they want. Turns out she was in a different race altogether lmao

Well played Cygames, well played.

Holy fucking peak man...

I am so glad I didn't search up Ougri career it was such a good bait.
The fact she didn't wore her signature outfit and no one marked her was weird but amazing execution.

Happy Sakura Chunyo O tho she's so adorable. She won it for Maruzen was so fitting.

I believe in Symbolic Rudolf supremacy🛐
