What is this with all those AI generated isekai trash getting sequels lately?
I know it's mostly because of anime being fully mainstream and their are just milking it, but seriously... There are so many other great series that are in the limbo.

Because isekai titles sell extremely well in Japan~

Death March LN sales is 5m, same as Eminence In Shadow.

Some interesting LN sales numbers for comparison:
Slime: 40m
Mushoku Tensei: 13m
Re:Zero: 13m
Bookworm: 11m
Konosuba: 10m
Campfire Cooking: 7m
Eminence In Shadow: 5m
Cheat Skill In Another World: 3m
Seirei Gensouki: 2.7m

Yeah, we know for a while that the only ones to blame for this is Japanese audience.
@Piromysl I prefer Japanese taste to American tastes.

@Paladin23 nope. NO new news what. so. ever. that i've been able to find today.

don't listen to Sugoi LITE, they're barely an iffy source for leaks.

the manga adaptation of the 'Death March' Light Novels' announcement from December 9, 2024 publishing date about 'the new anime project' is presently 37 WEEKS old as of August 18th of this year. that is 9months and 1 week ago. or approximately TWO TV anime seasons in Japan with NO official announcement by ANY production committee/company, hard-copy/web-copy publisher, the author, or anime studio.

if the sequel happens? i'll be quite happy as i re-watch S1 from Funimation EDub every once in a while, since i own their Disk Set of it. yet, S1 started in January 2018 making it 7 YEARS old. how many anime without an immediate 'project announcement' within 1 week of the final episode airing get a sequel after 3 years? add on 4 MORE years with ONLY this one manga adaptation advertisement for a new anime coming out LAST YEAR?

just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

@Paladin23 we can only hope right now. :) Fall 2025 is already full up with announcements and Winter 25/26 is a bit too far off for concrete dates.

looking at when that 'project ad' came out right at the end of '24 means... a 2-3 YEAR wait i'm guessing. then add in the fact that nothing new ever for TV anime in Japan comes out in Dec. due to the Xmas/New Year holiday conjunction. just direct to video OVAs. we can't forget school entry testing is that month as well in Japan. so we'd probably have to add in another six to nine months after December... so perhaps? a far-off future Summer or Fall anime?

plus, not even mentioning a year nor a studio in that Dec. '24 'project ad' in the manga means most probably the 'cash' was assembled back then and studios were bidding for or being offered the project. but nobody had taken it on yet. as an engine for a 'hype train' the manga adaptation for the LNs is a good promotional vehicle. but the dearth of details won't get the borderline obsessed to casual fans all that excited.

just mass speculation which as we've seen in the past 9months... results in nothing new. not even a vague hint. just some overly imaginative folks online talking cloud castles.

@KiliianSleipnir that make sense I'm looking forward to the muno barony arc it was my favorite until the labyrinth city arc and royal capital arcs but still top three. i did want Silver Link to do the next season but after the Our last crusade or the rise of a new world long delay I'm having second thoughts i just don't want an extreme change in the art style i use silver link satou character design as my profile picture

@Paladin23 yeah, Silver is... ok... i guess. i think you're OVERLY worked up about Our Last Crusade. Silver Link's previous works listed on their page here on MAL lists some VERY good-looking shows that i've enjoyed over the years. AND a few stinkers... i really didn't like the Otome Game Villainess franchise all that much and stopped watching it at some point. The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody... biiig stinker. barely a 6/10 from me. The Misfit of Demon King Academy was a hit and miss (sometimes at the same-time!) for me!!! overall i liked it, yet it definitely needed alot better writing staff!!! but i have REALLY enjoyed the rest of Silver's work that i've watched. :)

oh they JUST announced their next project is Arne no Jikenbo (The Case Book of Arne) television anime for Jan 2026 back on August 8th... so if Silver's "booked up" till that show is in the can and airing 'next year'... i doubt they're working on Death March S2... at least at this very moment. maybe. perhaps. :/ we really won't know till SOMEBODY SAYS SOMETHING! :(

@KiliianSleipnir you are more likely right about be being overly worked up about our last crusade. my favorite silver link anime in the last few years has been Hokkaido Gal are super adorable or Tearmoon empire . i thought maybe studio Connect maybe doing it but that are doing a romcom next year and they don a goo god on Slow Loop, the unwanted undead adventurer and the shy hero and the assassin princesses. i just don't want what happen to demon lord retry or in another world with my smartphone i watch both but Gekkou and J.C staff let those series down. if sliver link or connect doesn't do the next season of death march what studio would you want for me it be Maho, Clover works, or Wit studio maybe Ashi production

@Paladin23 since it basically is a smaller franchise and not mad money making? hmm... Smartphone by JC was ok. the first season by Production Reed appeared/looked ok. a smidge above average anime. the story is what made me happy. but JC is going to be up to their EYEBROWS in that new side-side-story LN anime for 'A Certain Magical/Scientific Index/Railgun/Accelerator'. ughh the ITEM group of underworld espers i do believe. the all-female group. plus whatever OPM S3 is going to be like and... let me see... they've got one reincarnated isekai girl as well as 'Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon' in Fall '25, then the new Patlabor anime sometime in '26 and that girl taking care of the male idol one in WINTER '26... PLUS myself and all the OTHER DanMachi fans want JC to make the next part of THAT franchise right now! ;> so i'm thinking JC is booked solid for the next year or two. ish. maybe three?

Clover? nope. they won't take Death March. they're too busy with Spy X Family and that new project a 'movie' code-named Grotesque. they normally only put 1 project out on-air a year anyways.

Maho would be 'nice' but their previous works are too... warm n cuddly. for a moderately 'edgy' franchise like Death March.

Wit? nope, they're too busy with the next part of Bookworm AND they also work on Spy X Family too. they would be great at Death March, but i doubt it would happen.

Ashi? hmm nope. they've been concentrating HARD on the 'romance' anime since their work on the Eureka 7 franchise.

who do i want? White Fox. but i KNOW they're not gonna do it. Uglymug Epic Fighter right now is FUN! but looks peculiar... especially with those weird 'squares' randomly on-screen all the time. plus i definitely DEFINITELY want WF to concentrate as close to 100% on the next part of Re:Zero so it doesn't get... screwed up again... or whatever happened to S3's release issues/length.

who i think isn't busy AND did a good job with a high fantasy isekai/reincarnation franchise? Children's Playground Entertainment, they did Faraway Paladin. IF they set their Paladin team up with Death March S2? i think it will easily surpass S1. :)

@KiliianSleipnir White Fox would be awesome to do the second season of death march Ugly epic fighter is great I've been enjoying it and I enjoyed goblin slayer, arifureata and jormungand your are right Re Zero a big money maker of that studio the series feel off for me last season just like danmachi

on children's playground entertainment they did a great job on Faraway paladin plus it last project was winter 2024 so that could be a good bet and i don't think i would not be disappointed

on clover work I know that it a pipe dream but it one of my favorite studio I'm loving dress up darling this season, windbreaker, spy x family and Abebki sailor uniform for death march to get Clover work animation while keep close to the silver link character designs would be amazing

on Maho Death march most likely on the edge of what the studio comfortable with but it has done series like Apocalypse bringer mynoghra, I'm standing on a million lives and if for my daughter i'd even defeat a demon lord i think Death march overly tone similar but the Muno Barony arc start out i little dark with a satou finding a fortress of muno "soldiers" destroyed by a three headed hydra and a village chief offering up his granddaughter to sell plus two village women offering to keep satou company for some food

@Paladin23 thanks for the reminder Maho did Mynoghra. that one is DEFINITELY more hard-core and dark than Maho's previous works i watched or knew of. i tried 100-man S1 but didn't like it at all. i watched ep1 and unlike my normal patterns (3 Episode Rule) thought it sucked so hard i dropped it right there, gave it a 4/10 here on MAL, and have never thought to try it again. that episode just, ugh, it was NOT worth my time. i was thinking on the Maho shows i had watched, Ossan VRMMO, Level 1 Unique Skill, 2 Seasons of By the Grace of the Gods, Leadale, and For My Daughter. as well as what i had heard of Let's Make a Cup. their stories are just so doggone warm n fuffy. yeah, Daughter has the dark elements... the teacher with the hate-on for demons... Lalatina losing her daddy etc. but it seriously overflows with 'proud daddy' moments, warm n cuddly 'little girl growing up' moments, new friends at school scenes... and so on.

plus, i've always had a... problem... issue? hmm concern. yeah a big concern on what Maho's shows LOOK like. they're low-LOW detail in every way. everything is rounded, soft, lacks deep detailed and intricate textures. plus, their backgrounding work is abysmal and cartoonish. the settings and worlds the characters exist in are... blah. mediocre. i know not every studio can do Violet Evergarden, or DanMachi, or Re:ZERO, or Monogatari, or even Jobless Reincarnation levels of art. but Maho 'seems' to let their art department do... JUST a passing job? just good enough? 'oh that's fine! you don't need to go nuts on this stuff, average is ok!' and let their chosen stories, screenwriters, and voice talents carry their shows. at least to me that is Maho's Philosophy... Mynoghra is a perfect example of... just good enough. recently, those new buildings in their 'town'... are all... basic. they're... there. but the details aren't there. wood looks like... brown bumpy curvy stuff. few individual leaves are drawn. metals don't have sheen or varying colors, metal is all... one chosen metal color. the main and primary supporting character designs and detailing and textures are good and definitely show that this anime studio KNOWS how to create a 'person' and animate them. but the 'bug scouts' are CGA, the various monsters are CGA, it looks like THOSE characters were farmed out to somebody else and Maho didn't take the time (or effort) to blend them into their show more artistically. or require their outsourced studio for CGA to MAKE their work look 2D hand-drawn style. they're just jarring and immersion ruining.

if you really STUDY Death March S1... sure... the one-eyed demon and its summoned demon king were CGA and they kinda just JUMP OUT as CG. but other than those two, the other monsters in that dungeon looked good and well blended. if Connect KEPT Death March and put forth their efforts 100% with the teams from Unwanted Undead Adventurer AND Strike The Blood? i don't think they would need Silver Link's help like S1. or vice versa if Silver needed Connect's help. an IDEAL collaboration? if Connect can't work the entire Death March S2? use my 1st choice Children's Playground Entertainment. there were multiple moments where i thought CPE could have gone... deeper? more detail. more design. just more of more on Faraway Paladin. so if THOSE two studios worked on DM S2? THAT would be an interesting collaboration!

@KiliianSleipnir you listed some great series from Maho and I slugged it out with I'm standing on a million lives the story line was too chaotic like a seven year time period skip for the fantasy world the main characters get transported to so like 60 year pass on the other side over the first season . I loved For my daughter although it will not get a second season as Dale and Lalatina get marry in the source material

Maho background characters and especially their horses are very subpar especially in By the graces of the gods

i hope Silver link and Connect will do Death march again i loved to see what the do with Muno castle and Karina muno plus the Mountain tree village those location would be bland if Maho did it although if Children's playground entertainment put Faraway paladin level of effort into a secpnd season of death march i bet it will be good. Hey i was checking to see how many project Silver link and Connect has done together and turns out Connect own by sliver link or just a division studio of silver link now so the chance of many an early 2027 death march are good plus the Muno barony arc the muno barony cold thanks to the lord not having control of he weather so a prefect winter season series

@Paladin23 yeah, i vaguely remember something about Silver starting up Connect as a sub-studio/possession and Connect evolved to work on their own solo projects here and there.

as to the story-setting for their weather/season corresponding to the release date and our time of year? that i seriously doubt. it would be... catastrophically HARD to pace/plan any animation project merely based on 'it will be Winter in the anime, so we're going to release it in October!' how many anime can you remember having a Halloween or Christmas 'season' on-screen IN those months on TV? or Spring School Term entry sakura trees blooming in a Summer or Fall released anime? school starts in Japan mostly in April, so yeah that would be Spring TV Season there 1 April... that's why we get 'April Fools' anime jokes cropping up here and there in the last week of March. how many ecchi swimsuit/beach Summer episodes do we get DURING Summer TV Season?

perfect example, Rascal Doesn't Dream of Santa Claus... right now, Summer 2025... it is October and November in that show. ;>

@KiliianSleipnir you are right about he weather timing but i think it be kind of awesome the series start in cold January and end in march when thinks are starting to lighten up plus I think that the earliest will will be getting the series in my opinion

I really hope this is real, Death March is one of the more fun isekai I've watched. When I finished the show, I said this is the type of series that work best with more episodes, so I hope to see more.
