Cause gun gale sucks and the only actually good part of the season is the remaining part after Gun Gale, which I think is the part that has Asuna as the protagonist compared to Kirito

Honestly don’t know. Season 2 was one of my favorites (ignoring the Excalibur Arc). 100% better than Season 1 and introduced more interesting characters like Sinon and Yuuki.

Yuuki and sinon were my favourite new characters in this season

This is actually season 2 for Gun Gale. It's a side thing from Sword Art Online. Karen is the protagonist.

SAO as a whole has just gone down hill ever since after season one in terms of writing and quality. I think the animation is ok but this is a franchise that just needs to end.

I agree it’s the best season, the movie after that gets a bit iffy (personal opinion) and if it gets better more recently I just can’t be bothered. If I ever have huge amounts of free time I’ll possibly get into it.
Although I much prefer Gun Gale, much better writing to me. Can’t wait for the new season.

I loved season 1 and it just seems to get... I don't wanna say worse, because they're not bad, but they're not as great as the first. I also lost interest in gun gale, though i completed it.

true. that arc and the sleeping knights arc was good. the excalibur one seemed like filler? I'm not really sure since I just saw the anime

Except for the Excalibur arc, which was apparently made to give more attention to other characters and insert Sinon into ALO to stay faithful to the games. S2 was great as a whole.

PS: 2024 and there are still widows from S1, but they have never read a LN 🤷

We hate it because the name of anime is not "Gun Art Online" it is "SWORD art online" so we are here for sword fights, not for guns or not here for Kirito's other waifu's.

the highest part till there is the first 10 episodes, I truly loved them, then it s not at that level, Yuuki part is good but differently

I also wish it were another season for Sinon, she's my favourite character after all, but no, if you check the SAO entries in MAL's search function, it'll have a 2nd season for SAO Alternative: GGO. But who knows, Sinon might appear in it anyway? Besides, if Alicization is anything to go by, it seems like some of the creators (perhaps even the author themself) particularly favours Sinon's character, regardless of the Progressive releases.

I found s2 to be just as good as s1 so also don't get why the hate, but hey, everyone has different taste and is entitled to their own opinion so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On the flip side, i loath the Gun Gale Online Alternative spinoff series and find Karen extreamly annoying

Sinon is quite simply my most favourite character in the whole anime medium probably because of how her story with mental health issues is in my personal experience pretty realistic

while there are not as many sword fights, kirito does use a sword and does use "sword skills". when he first gets a sword and tries it out, he uses Horizontal Square. and when he is fighting Xaxa, he uses Vorpal Strike. Though they are not assisted by the system, they are sword skills. That stays true to the title of Sword Art Online.

I think their reactions to GGO are immature, but I also agree that the series peaked at the SAO arc.

The author crafted the plot of the first arc so that we could watch Kirito get rejected, reject others, and finally find acceptance. Through this character arc, the author raises several interesting questions we hadn’t seen much of at the time, such as what exactly is the difference between the real world and the virtual world? Can the virtual world be more real than the real world? Etc.

On the other hand, the GGO arc had less attention to detail with the characters and the direction of the plot. Kirito’s personal choices don’t lead him into GGO; instead, he started playing because some guy told him to, as opposed to SAO, where him being one of the first to play the game implied so much about his character. And various other things like that.

I think that the author told a very personal story in the first arc, but by GGO, he ran though most of his inspiration and life experience, so GGO doesn’t have as much plot or character to chew on as the og SAO.

When you say its better than season 1, are you saying its better than both arcs of season 1 independent of one another, or not. Because the sao arc imo was the best arc (maybe tied with alice), but fairy dance was garbage

I think a major part of the reason is that the fanbase really liked Asuna and wanted more episodes with her given that she is the de facto girl by virtue of being his literal fiancée iirc. I can understand why given that Asuna is the face of Sword Art Online alongside Kirito. Asuna overall does get a shockingly low amount of screen time

I Literally Just Finished It(Like 15 Mins Ago And Loved It, Loved The GGO Arc(Love The Concept Of The Game) Which Introduced Me To Possibly My Favorite Character Sinon And Loved The Yuuki Arc Too, Will Not Watch This Arc Again Anytime Soon Tho...Emotional Reasons

Definitely Enjoyed This More Than The 1st Season To Say The Least
