| Left or Right, both parties are often against freedom of speech, expression, thought and opinion. But yeah Anime and the Right were never gonna get along swimmingly. Both parties are anti-Anime for differing reasons. For the left it is oppose to anime because it sexualises women, it provides a cultural outlet they cannot control the narrative off and gives a sense of fulfilment to those that watch anime. All things the left cannot stand. It also cannot stand anime which presents complex ideals, the left loves black and white moral arguments, a good and bad side. Anything which tries to present a more complex argument, will be branded as fascist escapism. Look at Gundam, people accuse fans of the Zeno technology as being right wingers. Which is ridiculous but its the 2020s and people love connecting dots that don't exist. For the right it is opposed to anime because it includes characters which are not-straight, they might be crossdressers, homosexuals, lesbians whatever to them these are moral attacks against a 'pure' society. And worst in anime, compared to other media such as hollywood, Anime tackles these things not as tokens but as parts of a story, which actually is far more dangerous than tokenism. As by presenting a gay character as human, you have effectively humanised gay people to the audience. And that is very bad for Republicans who are anti-gay, trans or whatever they might be. |

If it got bi-partisan support in Congress then it could impose restrictions on anime. Censorship in other words. No more skin to be shown, covered up in black bars. No more swearing to be used. Nowadays both sides want to expand our gov to increase corruption, and misuse spending in the US. Most male anime fans including myself tend to lean right politically. (That is, unless you literally mean "republican" as of "non monarchic democracy", though I highly doubt it lol) Secondly, you have literally provided no real evidence to support your claims. I will accept that republicans in the US are banning this type of content (which is itself very questionable, as up until now I've only heard it's been banned IN SCHOOLS, though this is what I know from Florida. I have no idea from the rest of the country or specific municipalities), but the fact that this happens in other (democratic) countries is just straight up false. Some far-right polish and hungarian leaders have actually embraced anime, though in reality most far-right parties don't care much about it and have never given an opinion on it. The only democratic country where any kind of anime has been banned has been Australia, which banned loli porn a few years ago, and they don't have a particularly far-right government. Edit: Btw I'm not republican. I don't fucking care about US politics. I actually quite like Biden and his administration so far. And I niether support the far right governments of Poland and Hungary. I just found those examples funny, because they directly and actively disprove your thesis.
