part of monogatari series?

i haven't watched any of the monogatari so idk if this is part of it or just a solo anime. should i watch anything before this anime??

(UPDATE) This was probably a stupid doubt so i thank everyone who taught me something new. I just watched the first episode and found it interesting wbu?

"Monogatari" (物語) is just the Japanese word for "story" or "tale". Heike Monogatari doesn't have anything to do with the Monogatari Series by NISIO ISIN or any other anime with "Monogatari" in the title.

It’s based on the tale of the heike which is traditional Japanese literature. It will likely adapt the entire book because it just wouldn’t make sense if it didn’t.

No, just having monogatari in its name doesn't make this a part of monogatari series. It's a whole different thing even having a different studio than Shaft

I'm gonna be honest,i also thought it was at first but once i scrolled and found out that its not monogatari but then i saw the castings,directors and producers and relaized that this is something MUCH greater than I anticipated.
