Damn, that was an insane twist. Now everything makes sense.

For a 13-episode series, Odd Taxi had a lot of moving threads and although it was hard to follow sometimes I'd say the anime succeeded in portraying everything properly. I'm kinda glad I didn't watch it while it was airing and binged it instead.

The main twist was so dumb, until the final episode this was a solid 9/10 show despite the many plot conveniences but that reveal alone brought it down to a 7. I picked up on the hints that were sprinkled right from the beginning but I wasn't sure what to make of them, I'm disappointed the writers couldn't commit to a real all-animal setting. It's a painfully average murder mystery at best if you replace all the animals with humans.

Also, that manzai duo contributed virtually nothing to the story despite them getting so much screen time.

It was a really fun ride for me. It has some flaws ofc and the twist that everyone was human was not really surprising to me. We saw "people" wallking around with real animals and this one cat ate chicken wings, so she would eat pretty much citizens lol (For some reason I saw nobody questioning that fact in any other topic). The ending is probably up to your imaginations, if she got Odokowa or if Odokowa got her with his clever traps and tricks. The biggest surprise to me was the cat in the closet, I couldn't see that coming for some reason and was probablyl the biggest bait I took in aninme ever. I thought it might be a twist for an upcoming second season or something. It's been a while since I saw an anime coming together this well over 13 episodes. Overall 8.4/10 for me

edit: And I am wondering why this anime has only the "Mystery" tag. It can have easily Drama or even Action as a genre. I always didn't want to watch it cause of that fact, just one genre seems kinda lame.

Real animals living along with anthropomorphic ones isn't particularly weird, happens all the time in fiction, but humans were definitely hinted at throughout the show. The first big hint came right from the start of ep1 when the hosts of a talk show on the radio mention that the name of their duo is "homo sapiens". Then there's the third episode where the anatomical mannequin at the clinic has a face of a dog but casts a shadow of a human head. Then came the flashbacks where the dark undefined figures have remarkably human-like builds and head shapes. Other than that there were lots of smaller oddities like dogs eating chocolate, or how the father of Yuki is a baboon while she herself is a cat.

I didn't like how Odokawa made mentions of the animal species he sees people as in various conversations but nobody ever reacted to it, if it wasn't for this I'd probably be more certain in the hidden human presence long before the reveal. Like why didn't Shirakawa get confused about it when he told her that she's the only Alpaca around, or when he told Yamamoto that he drove a girl from his agency before, he specified that she wasn't a calico cat but this didn't seem weird to Yamamoto. Honestly the writing could be better, even if the cast of characters is good and the conversations aren't boring.

What's funny is that the intro/OP has so many veiled spoilers for everything in the plot but you don't realize it at first. Even the cat in the closet twist is referenced near the end of it.

Absolutely amazing. This was a good anime at first but this final episode was brilliant. What a way to end a series on a high note and leave a cliffhanger.

I like how they animated they showed the characters drawn in human form it showed how the other everyone else perceives the world.
All of the characters were drawn out and had a detailed persona that made the world very believable.

We got hit with a good season finale! I was nervous that Odokawa was gonna end up like his parents, but fortunately he got saved! It is crazy how his father was cheating on his mom and how she drove them all into the water. Someone in the early episodes commented that maybe Odokawa saw everyone as animals and it turned out to be true. I’m glad everything ended up working out at the end.

It took me a long time to get into this anime since I was thrown off by the animal theme and it was lowkey slow in the beginning but glad I stuck through

Magnificent writing, one of the best, if not the best mystery anime I've watched up to date. No unnecessary excitement, everything is so perfectly build up. Not too much suspense itself, but I was just glued to the screen the entire time. Anime like this seem rare. Amazing work.

Holy shit.

All this time, Odokawa has suffered from visual agnosia. His trip to the zoo really altered his concept of reality. He sees himself as a walrus and everyone around him as animals in a zoo.

What a shocking revelation. Welp, I'm just glad that he got taken care of at the hospital. Shirakawa is a real one for saving his life once again.
It's so cool to see everyone as humans.

That taxi car falling off the bridge was fucking beautiful. I got goosebumps just looking at that scene. What an iconic scene.

Really great ending, had heard from a couple people that it was a great ending and I’m not disappointed. The whole show was great, one of the best anime from the last few years I’ve seen for sure, maybe THE best original series from the last few years (not counting sequels).

Chicken girl looks like an eight-year-old what the hell. I guess this art style is struggling to visually define the teenagers as being much younger than the mostly middle-aged cast. When they were animal people them being tiny didn't seem so out of place.

It was a good show but as other people have pointed out the comedians take up a lot of air time and don't really interact with the rest of the story in a serious way. The fat one ran into Tanaka more than once and the tall one was the head idol's boyfriend but none of that has any consequences.

It's also not much of a murder mystery but while maybe harping on that too much it wasn't actualy that important. Odokawa never cared much about it, for instance.

Cliffhanger ending but I like that. Leaves it open for interpretation (although I then went and looked at what happened in the movie lol).

This was one of the best writing for an anime that I have seen. Everything leads to another, the writer baited us all thinking its some talking animals anime but it goes way more than that, caught me off guard for that and I didnt even expect this. At first I had a feeling its just really good written and thats it, but the ending proved it has more to it, I was always saying ill give it a 9 if it has the emotional aspect that I wanna see and it proved it. Truly underrated and great anime

All of the stories lining up perfectly at the wharf, everything coming full circle with how everyone was connected to each other in some way.
The whole world actually being warped by Odokawa's perception was a great unique way of telling the story (though not a big twist with the hints we've gotten throughout the anime)

The mystery element and the story telling were fantastic though.
The addition of using animals as main characters felt so refreshing and fun to watch and not just because but actually being used properly for the story.

Also I absolutely love the OP, it fits so well with this anime.

It was an interesting show overall but I wasn't satisfied with the conclusion. They already gave away the big twist too easily with the flashbacks in the first 2 episodes and Gouriki's "quiz" for Odokawa at the pub made it even more obvious. Him crashing into the water and remembering his past was also predictable.

I don't understand why this man kept driving even though he saw the bridge was unfinished. The chase in general was goofy, they didn't have guns to shoot him with and cops had joined the chase so I'm not sure what prevented him from slowing down the car to have them either get arrested or stop their pursuit to avoid the cops.

Then we get the writer use Shirakawa to somehow save Odokawa again in another ridiculous manner. She was able to run/swim all the way to the spot where the car fell off, somehow find it in the middle of the night at the bottom of the harbor and use martial arts underwater to break the window to grab and swim with his bigass body to the surface all while dealing with the freezing water and not running out of oxygen. I get it, it's fiction but jesus lol.

After all that though, after Odokawa finally starts seeing people as they actually are instead of animals/anthropomorphics, they kill him off....I guess they technically leave it as an open ending but it's pretty obvious that she's gonna tie up the loose end by killing him. That's just cruel.

With the In the Woods movie the ending makes more sense, since it seems they cut at least a good 7 minutes of this final episode for that ending, and the cliffhanger gets resolved. If you are confused, watch the movie from the 2 hour mark or so and it will be clarified, it is not really much.

Kind of a mean thing to do, I have seen some director cut final episodes with extended runtime, instead they decided to make a recap movie.

Hmm, overall, I don't know, I think the pacing was all over the place and considering how this anime ended it seems the whole information they wanted to give ended getting out of their hands. The whole twist about the animals not being actually animals explains some things (like how the animals were eating animals, which was weird, and how there were normal animals in the world) and explain a bit of Odokawa's trauma, but it does not add much? Like it is a twist but... I don't know, I don't feel all characters look odd and like strangers to me since they don't look like they did the whole anime to me, it makes me a bit uncomfortable, but to be honest I deal with some social anxiety and I always picture people like cartoons on the internet, on person it makes me a lot more anxious, so I think I relate more to how Odakawa viewed the world before than now.

It was an entertaining anime, it surely is worth a second watch to catch all the details, but that whole ending still makes me feel weird.

God damn this series was so well crafted. Even Sakura leaving the phone in the car makes so much more sense knowing she's the murderer. Can't believe they left us on a cliffhanger like that. Odokawa did mention he thought of something to report to the police while in the hospital. It's pretty obvious that what he'd be reporting is that he dropped off Sakura to the crime scene, not Mitsuya as everyone suspected. So there's a world where she is arrested after the series end, but it's also very sus how she gets in his cab like that. Anyway great series. Doubt there would ever be a sequel. Especially with the animal part being gone. Either way I think it's a fine ending.

This anime was incredible in so many aspects. The OP was such a vibe, the dialogue delivery was impeccable, and it had a well-written cast and plot.

Also, the number of parallels Odakawa's drowning segment roped in, related to the characters we saw across this series was really impressive.

What a fantastic series!

The way the stories intersected and everything unraveled was so well-written. I see that a few were disappointed that Odokawa's visual agnosia spoiled the anthropomorphic setting, but I liked it much more than if they were merely non-humans for stylistic reasons; It allowed us to see the world through Odokawa's eyes in a unique way I've never personally seen before. It also wasn't like it was a last-minute decision or something, as they sprinkled little clues here and there as the story progressed. Anyway, it was beautiful to see him come through all the traumas in his life in a positive way. Childhood trauma can really mess people up for life, let me tell you! It's not common for such things to be tackled in fiction, but here it was admirably done. Big kudos to the creators.

None of the twists were a surprise, but I don't get two things:

- what was the point in hiding the body of the real Yuki, and even more, mutilate it in the process

- Odokawa remembered that it was the fake Yuki who he took to the place that night, but he changed his mind and did not tell anyone for whatever reason, why? or maybe the last scene was a setup, so that he could take her to the "tapir" instead of cops? kinda lame to leave it at that

So its confirmed, everyone is human but Odokawa sees everyone as animals.

Nah, I was just in tears hearing about Odokawa's past and then boom, we are watching the car chase on tv.

Odokawa's car in slow motion gave me "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite". Such a beautiful scene, everyone was connected. The fact that Shirakawa used her skills to get him out of the car was so wholesome.

Togo was only 26 and Yano 28???

So the rhino helped the twins too. What a small world.

The dupe killed the original cat????

Ugh I wish I would've just finished this in a short amount of time instead of waiting over a month to finish it due to the "fear" of what was going to happen. I guess I didn't want to feel the empty void after finishing a good anime. I absolutely loved the conclusion to this. This is going in my top 10. Truly a masterpiece, thank you to my secret Santa for recommending this to me.

No no no you can't end the show with a cliffhanger like that, this is illegal. We won't be a getting a new season as there's nothing more to explore as the main twist was already revealed. Which is why this cliffhanger ending sux damn it.

Other than that another beautiful episode and a great finale. I'm glad we got to see their human selves. The character designs were neat. Shirakawa's really beautiful, Odokawa looks allright and lol Gori sensei does look like a Gorilla. Also I liked how all the characters moved on and is living their lives.

Pretty solid show overall, everything was beautifully done. The way things were hinted since the begining and how they were connected with each other was amazing. Other than the cliffhanger end and why Shirakawa was there to save Odokawa from getting strangled, loved everything about this show. I hope we get a special/OVA for a proper end thou.

So we've got two cliffhanger endings in one. The anime ends with Sakura entering Odokawa's taxi with the intend to kill, while the Radio Drama ends with Sakura knocking out Taeko and threatening the listeners they're next.
This anime definitely takes the cake as AOTS. Fantastic storytelling from start to finish!
@DarkDooM2 forum rules state do not spoil the manga. since it doesn't mention radio drama you somehow thing it's ok to spoil that?! I personally never listen to those but what abt those who do? you just spoiled the ending for them
