Please stop deleting threads (unnecessarily)

I hardly ever create forum threads, but that somewhat common practice is starting to vex me. A large number of threads are getting deleted without any explanation or whatsoever.

I am reporting the issue here because I am not sure if (all of) the staff is even aware of that problem.

One of the latest examples includes topic 1916157, which was titled: "Florida’s new transgender sports ban permits schools to require genital inspections of children."

Sure, it is controversial, but it did not break rule 7 because it was backed by what you consider a reputable source. However, even if that was not the case, you could just lock it instead. There are literally threads on the current events board that are backed by sources such as The Daily Stormer and other extremist outlets that can still be seen by everybody, yet other topics that seem to follow the rules just disappear out of nowhere. And it is not limited to just CE or politics either. Some casual threads about what I think are everyday matters get deleted as well.

If you open your browser history and start browsing the forum threads you have opened last month, you will likely get the "not found" error on an unreasonably large portion of them.

You should only delete threads that contain potentially hazardous information (scam links, illegal stuff, etc.).

I can write numerous paragraphs about the consequences of this practice, but prefer not to do it publicly. At the very least, it is extremely annoying to those who spend time posting in these threads.

"Oh, it took you like 30 minutes to write your 1200-word reply? Do not worry, the thread no longer exists! Did you write the same thing in another thread a week ago? Sorry, we deleted that one as well."

i remember that thread it violated Rule 1 of Current Events though but ye they do not need to delete it, just messaging the OP of that thread to make him post his own thoughts on the first post will be enough

EDIT:

made a new thread that even follows Rule 7 news source reliability requirement https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1916325

@deg

Thank you.

That has been bothering me for at least a year, but I could not notice any pattern. Some threads that shamelessly go against the rules stay for days (even weeks) before they eventually get locked (if they get locked), while other, seemingly harmless, threads get deleted within a few hours.

Bumping this thread to concur with the OP that this is an on-going issue:

Postings may be merged in this topic

I would like more transparency why lots of topics vanish despite not having "potentially hazardous information (scam links, illegal stuff, etc.)."

Example topic-ID: 2172293

That topic was locked for several weeks suddenly without any notice and then at one point completely deleted.
