I like it when the narration looks completely messed up, but it actually is kind of well organized to fill me up with what's actually going on. This is what happened in Durarara!! and I have been told that Baccano! is being narrated the same way.

The narration of Steins; Gate also looked completely messed up but every single thing made more sense when I rewatched it, and I still am thinking about it as if the events are looping (but there's no loop... I think?)

Also, Ergo Proxy. I had to read an entire explanation from a certain website/blog to get it and had to rewatch too. Although I loved the story, I think it was a bit overcomplicated - that's only me, EP fans please don't be triggered.

However, messing the narration up can kill the enjoyment when it messes the story itself up... or when I watch too much of these mess. Like, I am pretty sure that lots of people think Another was great and I won't contradict them, but I struggled to enjoy it. Call me a masochist if you want, but I kept saying "I'll give it another chance, perhaps it'll get better in the next episode" all the way up to the last episode lol! I eventually rewatched it after a few weeks, out of boredom, and my experience actually got a lot better.

But I digress. I'm only here to hear the description of the narration method that you like, and an anime example if you want to share.

Devilman: crybaby did pretty good job making it feel like fever dream with weird plotholes and timeskips. Maybe not intentional or universal feeling but worked for me at least.

Hunter x Hunter's Chimera Ant arc, where for the entire charge on the castle, the characters are quiet, and only the narrator says anything.

The American DBZ narrator method because I really dug how he said "LAST TIME ON DRAGON BALL ZEE."

The music is also super hype. As classic as the original soundtrack is, there are a few Faulconer tunes that I was sad to see go.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Kaiji Ultimate Survivor. Narrator helped properly increase the dramatic tone of the show.
