This episode was amazing.

That speech Chrome gave to Senkuu was fantastic (it's great to see Senkuu's soft side get recognized and even called out a bit). They had the ultimate buddy moment entrusting their lives to each other.

I love the old man's speech too.

Chrome falling was awesome, I really felt the tension then. His inner-monologue was depressing too. Thinking about how you'd feel in those few seconds is terrifying.

My favorite moment though was when Chrome and Senkuu's logical but equally respectful mindset was compared to the mindset of Kohaku's society, and how their culture is toxic in a hierarchical way. It was so interesting, because it gave insight into what kind of world someone like Tsukasa would inevitably make, but it wasn't really portrayed as evil in this context so much as a stark reality that could be fixed with science. Tsukasa might not have bad intentions, and the village leaders might not have bad intentions either, but this kind of life style inherently leaves behind the weak; whereas Chrome and Senkuu's scientific worldview leads to a conclusion that respects everyone as equals even when they have their own shortcomings. It's an interesting parallel between an already established order, and what Tsukasa's world would look like, for sure, and re-establishes why Tsukasa is wrong even if he has good intentions, despite not even mentioning him in that very scene!

Genrou saving them last minute was cool, but I didn't really like how they showed the collection of the element. Seemed too abstract compared to the other science parts, even if I did like the visual representation of a monster women.

Ginro is so funny. Man this really is a life-risking endeavor, getting the necessary ingredients to craft an antibiotic. Hydrogen sulfide, was it? This anime is teaching me things I didn't know.

Let's go Ginro, fear will never disappear but we can always push past it.

I know Chrome ain't going to die, but you never know, that was scary.

Those gas masks looks cool along with some words of wisdom from Kaseki.

There is no one who’s not scared.

But we try to overcome fear for the sake of something dear to us

I loved this episode. Especially that scene showing Senkuu shaking. It added so much to his character. And made me a little sad. At the end of the day they are just kids figuring it all out. Yes I know Senkuu lived 3700 years

L O L deadass laughing when Ginrou couldn’t control his breathing!!!!! He saved Chrome!!!!!! Thank goodness Kaseki was egging him on or that would had been the end of my cute boi Chrome x______X

They were so afraid but so so brave!! Amazing boiiiiiiis

In this episode it was shown how the friendship between Senku and Chrome has been developing throughout the episodes and also in this episode they focused a little more on the development of Ginrou as a character, which was really cool.
At the end of the episode, luckily no one died and got injured and they managed to get the sulfuric acid they needed.

I really adore the personification of sulfuric acid in this episode.
“Why does an apple fall when it is ripe? Is it brought down by the force of gravity? Is it because its stalk withers? Because it is dried by the sun, because it grows too heavy, or because the boy standing under the tree wants to eat it? None of these is the cause.... Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own free will is in the historical sense not free at all but is bound up with the whole course of history and preordained from all eternity.”

My biggest issue is that it's not internally consistent. One thing is how closely you follow real life, but stay consistent in how things work. And mostly they stay pretty close to real science, or better, to real physics, as what they are doing is not really science, Senku is simply recreating known stuff, not studying anything. But this episode, they took huge liberties with how sulphuric acid etc. work, and to top it off they added that weird screaming lake banshee..

The spear thingy is not an issue, they always took liberties with how strong characters are, and it's more comedic relief and the power of friendship, it's not supposed to fit into the whole science thing. But besides not needing that much strength in the first place.. if they *are* that string, they could just pull some little jugs up frrom a platform build over the lake (barely over the edge is enough) or use a long stick with a jug on the end. And it would take quite some time to dissolve wood or iron, and lead is actually resistent. Material strength is not an issue, the weight is not an issue, the knowledge is not an isuse..

But instead of using simply tools they already have, he spends time to come up with a way to make gas masks, producing them, and is not even sure they work. On top of that they have to go in there deep, and the terrain is treacherous.

And then they also had that long flashback between Senku and Chrome where Chrome repeated the same argument every other sentence.

And then they used the same logic for Kohaku.

Taking precautions for if somebody should die is totally different from "a plan where it's okay for someone to die". You do take precautions because someone *might* die, because what you haveto do is simpyl that dangerous. It's not because the plan is like "eh, some might die, too lazy to make a better plan".

Overall, it was probably the worst episode so far.

Though some things annoyed me basically since they arrived at the village. Senku is still relying on people's strength instead of taming animals or using water power for everything, i guess he either has giant holes in his knowledge, is not really smart, just knowledgable (so he remembers what he read and can reproduce it, but can not apply it to new situations, which does not really track with what we've seen) or he just enjoys slow progress and/or making people suffer.

Maybe he is banking on forcing a crisis, barely being able to fend Tsukasa off, instead of being fully prepared and simply overpowering him. Though why he would do that..

"Nature may be powerful, but it lacks a heart or a thinking mind. That's what sets us humans apart." Wow, that's a real thought-provoker.

And whoa, Chrome was on the brink of biting the dust there. Ginro comparing that lake to a beautiful girl is spot-on. Deadly as they may be, those lakes do have a captivating charm, like staring at the beach of a tropical island.

I absolutely loved the creative touch of anthropomorphizing a hazardous chemical into this alluring yet terrifying deadly monster.

I was on the edge of my seat, terrified that the spear might snap. At the same time, I was amazed at Ginro's strength, holding Chrome without a dip into the spring. But, hey, he had to become a gate guard for some reason, right?

Props to Ginro for facing his fears! I almost fell for him there, no kidding.

And can we talk about the potential romance between Chrome and Kohaku? That scene where she realized how similar they are and proposed to him instead of Ruri had me saying, "Please, make it happen!" 😆😍

Es cierto que hubo ooootro amago más a una muerte que al final no fue. Si siguen abusando del recurso, ya no va a ser impactante...

Sin embargo, el capítulo me encantó. La enseñanza sobre el miedo es muy buena.

The pursuit of creating the all-cure antibiotic requires sulfuric acid. What can usually be bought from a chemical supply store can now only be acquired though a life-or-death expedition. A well-made yet primitive breathing apparatus and some general caution are all that separates these guys from certain doom. They don't even bother with wearing some more clothing to protect themselves further.

I feel like this ep really shows you the essence of what it means to do something for a goal greater than oneself. More often than not, a person would go above and beyond to achieve something for someone or for collective progress compared to a superficial goal involving the benefit of only themself. They are aware of the danger and scared of the prospect, and the possibility of failure, but they gotta do it because someone HAS to do it, in order to advance their progress. Unreservedly admirable.

This isn't just a battle of chemical vs chemical or humanity vs mother nature. It's the applied knowledge of chemistry along with the human spirit to conquer hazardous chemicals from mother nature.
Fear is instinct, Courage is HUMANITY

This final ingredient is deathly serious and Senku's made that point clear. Sulphuric Acid can kill you instantly even before you suffer it's melting effect! I'm glad their makeshift gas masks are working well.

The sulfuric acid fairy is a nice visual for the danger they're in. Very epic that Ginro came back, held strong against his fear, and didn't let her have Chrome!
