If you look at my profile pic, it's Nile's Annihilation of the Wicked. It's an outstanding technical/brutal Death Metal. So, it had me thinking if there are metalheads on the site or on the forums?

\m/

In an interesting way, Anime has something to do with my music choice especially back in the 80's and 90's stuff.

Yea hi sup, I'm one of the many other Metalheads that roam this site, Dio, Death, and Cynic are the Metal bands of my life and I'm into all that Extreme Wacky Metal stuff. Just gonna say, if it wasn't for Metal I probably wouldn't be able to go so far on my journey to become a "MusicHead" heh.

You can't kill the metal...the metal will live on. One of my favorite groups is Mayhem. Had Deathcrush on vinyl before I snapped it :(

Yep, here we are. \o/ I listen to anything ranging from old school thrash metal to tech death, grindcore, slam, etc. I try to not limit myself to metal music but in the end, it's my favorite genre of music lol. Some of my favorites are Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura, Converge, Pig Destroyer, Cattle Decapitation, Vulvodynia, Gojira, among others.

So, I like some types of metal.

I've been listening to metal for over eleven years or even longer, if you count music from classic video games. Always loved the sound of an electric guitar on distortion.

I run two forums dedicated to metal. One is Forces of Steel, and the other (much more active and focused) is Japanese Metal Forum. Feel free to lurk at either or both.

I'm a huge metal fan

I have too many "favorites" to list all of them, but one that I've been listening to alot lately is the Russian folk metal band Arkona.

Is it really difficult to find Pantera fans in your area? They've always seemed like a pretty popular/basic choice for metal fans. I've enjoyed their music since my High School days.

Otherwise, I've been getting into more metal songs or artists, although it's not my main genre of music. I've been listening to Sepultura's Schizophrenia album a lot.

Right here! I've tried to expand my music taste but I always do end up back into the metal genre. Lately I've been into Death, Kreator, Sepultra, Gorija, Allegaeon, Pantera & Iron Maiden.

Not a fan of metal, but a good guitar solo is always able to change my mind. And yeah, Icelandic & Swedish metal=life.

Check out all the ones I gave a 5, for now just avoid the records that have the "Death Metal, Black Metal, Grindcore, or any Core tag" rn cause they might be too much on your ears rn, gl, highly suggest Dio's Holy Diver and Cynic's Traced in Air

Ok, Ace of Spades, Paranoid, Holy Diver, and The Downward Spiral look good. Lol @ anything -core XD is too much. It probably is tbh. Even Slayer was a bit much even though Angel of Death and Raining Blood kicked ass lol.

@Shion Check out the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). It was a huge movement of British heavy metal bands, there's enough for a rookie metalhead to get used to metal before diving into thrash, and eventually extreme metal. Iron Maiden lead this movement. I also recommend Saxon, Tank, Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Candlemass, and Satan as sort of a "heavy metal starterpack", since those are historically influential to future metal bands. I highly recommend Dio's Holy Diver and Cynic's Traced in Air as well, those two are among my all-time favorites. Traced in Air will introduce you to progressive metal/jazz fusion, it's awesome. \m/

I tend to listen to metalcore and shit that no one likes, but I do like a fair amount of melodeath like The Black Dahlia Murder, (old) In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and Scar Symmetry, slam death metal like Devourment, Ingested, Pathology and Suffocation, some black metal like Enslaved and Gallhammer, more straightforward death metal like Jungle Rot, Job For A Cowboy, Obituary, and Cannibal Corpse, and some of the more proggy death metal stuff like Obscura, Cryptopsy, Opeth, and Spawn of Possession.

Posthuman - Harms Way
Animus - Venom Prison
Self Supremacy - Malevolence
Arche - Dir En Grey
Nightmare Logic - Power Trip

Open to any suggestions for music to listen to. I'm cool with new bands and old bands
