| It's actually one of their director's thing (Akiyuki Shinbo), though Shinbo and SHAFT are pretty much synonymous at this point. He's also responsible for a lot of the weird camera angles and the face close-ups you mentioned~ Don't think too much about it though, just bask in the gloriousness *.* |

Ah, but I wish to understand my feelings for this gloriousness! lol Alright, here's my attempt: Ultra-close shots of characters' faces are mainly used for the occasional dramatic moment across most other anime. So when they're used so relentlessly in Shaft's shows, it makes everything a little bit more serious and powerful. | Those head tilts are one of the (many) reasons I can't seem to enjoy most shaft anime I tried to watch. Of the 7 I tried to watch, I dropped 4 after two or three episodes, because I found them visually unappealing and/or outright boring. |

I mean, I watched the Monogatari series all the way through Tsukimonogatari, but then I just couldn't take the constant dialogue and unchanging style anymore after the 50+ episodes I already watched. But for a while, I was able to dig it for reasons I attempted to explain in a previous reply. Perhaps it's overexposure that turned me away or just an actual drop in quality. |

It's a thing for the directors.I don't know why but I think it looks cool.It has a lot of charme and you don't see such a head tilt in every Anime. |

| The shows are so boring that one of the most noteworthy and interesting things is a character literally moving their head slightly to the side. |

| I've come to the conclusion that the head tilt specifically is cool because it's dramatic, The close ups on characters' faces are cool because they invoke sympathy. Those who dislike it do so since the show itself hasn't managed to grab their interest, so these small, emotion-heightening shots don't do anything for them. I also became that way after binging enough Monogatari. Though, I'll probably start back at Owarimonogatari some day to see if it's any better for me. |

Hopefully that day comes, Second Season was what grabbed me and kept me on the ride to finishing the series in a month. |
