I checked out the dub of the film and its really solid.
Can't comment on subs since I didn't watch it.

I can't say which is better, I only found this topic as I literally just wondered how this was subbed and searched. What I can say is I saw this in its original NA theater release and the dub is EXCELLENT.

Haven't seen the sub version. The dub version is very high quality. I didn't particularly like the father's voice, but that's personal preference. The children are done well, especially the raucous laughter. The mother is emotional. One of the better ones.

The problem with this poll is that most non-native Japanese speakers are unqualified to judge Japanese voice acting. I'm told that if you actually are qualified, then the vast majority of original Japanese dialog in anime will sound painfully fake to you.

Anyway, I watched the film subbed first, then showed it to my mother (because of course) with the dub. The dub is top-tier. And she loved the movie.
