Anime with a great plot deserves another season, but unfortunately that’s not always the case. No matter how hard the entire fandom frets, the anime that deserve a second season/third season won’t grace your TV screen...at least for now.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2009))
Haruhi Suzumiya is one of the top grossing anime series of all time. The second season was inevitable and that too left the viewers hanging. This is definitely one anime that deserves a third season. Unfortunately, the primary (and viable) reason for not airing the season 3 of Haruhi is that the writer only completed two books in a period of four years. They are not enough to produce another anime season. But, who knows what might happen in the coming days – there’s still hope.
Deadman Wonderland
In this series, Ganta witnessed his whole class being slaughtered by a mysterious man. He took all the blame and was sent to Deadman Wonderland, a prison where convicts are forced to fight to the death and provide amusement to its audience. Anime fans, who like to see horrifying carnage and violence plus a good story line, enjoy watching this series. Most regard this series as one of the anime that deserves a second season. Unfortunately, rumor has it that it did not do well in Japan and the publication was discontinued – no published story, no anime. However, it’s a hit in America and anime fans from that area are still hoping for a miracle to happen.
Kaze no Stigma (Stigma of the Wind)
Fans of this series are still hoping that another season is on its way, but that’s not the case – for now. Season one has left many unanswered questions and events that leaving a satisfying ending to one’s imagination is difficult to do. The novelist Takahiro Yamato passed away without completing the story. While there are many followers of the story who want someone to pick it up and create a proper ending, there are also those who would like to leave the ending as such and let the legacy of a great writer lives on.
Highschool of the Dead
High School of the Dead successfully combined ecchi and carnage real well. Although it has the story line that’s typical with zombie apocalypse, there are other things in it that anime fans find exciting and worth watching. It might not be considered a big hit in Japan, but in Russia it gained a lot of votes of approval. It is only right to say this series belongs to the selection of anime that deserve a second season.
Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice and Wolf)
Holo and Kraft Lawrence continue their journey to find Yoitsu, Holo’s home. The second season has a lot of witty dialogues, sharp humor, different merchants, business opportunities, and chances for a tender relationship to bloom. Most followers of this series are still unsatisfied with the ending and yearn for another season. Unfortunately, as of this writing, no season three for this series has been announced and no clear reason has been given.
Tokyo Ravens
The final episode of Tokyo Ravens makes the hearts of the fans yearn for more. It gives off an aura that it’s just the beginning rather than signifying its end. One of the reasons for not airing season two could be the lack of material to turn it into another season for the anime series.
Mayo Chiki!
This series is hilariously good and anyone will surely find all the characters entertaining. Everything would have been okay, save for the last episode that leaves you totally hanging. This anime deserves a second season, it has a good plot that deserves a proper season ending.
Pandora Hearts
There are many fans of this series that are disappointed with the ending of the first season. The season finale of the anime adaptation followed an original ending story for the anime. Everyone hopes for a second season that would devotedly follow the manga and provide a more fitting end to an incredible adventure.
Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini
Darker than Black is unlike most anime that depend on the manga or light novel for the continuation of the series. It has an original story line, although there are short manga adaptations based off the anime. The second season leaves a lot of unanswered questions, and it is only reasonable that this series should be given another season.
Baccano!
This series is a perfect example of a meticulously crafted anime with an extremely intriguing story line, but it has a single flaw – not having enough episodes to satisfy the fans of the series. It has comedy, drama, action, adventure, romance, mystery, and gory scenes – the whole enchilada!
Frankly speaking, you don’t need a reason to justify whether your favorite anime deserve a second/third season, it is enough reason that you simply want to see more.
