Another classy voice that can't be replaced. Damn, RIP legend.

RIP, legend. Mazinger Z is also my favorite theme. Harlock one also bring good memories.

RIP Ichiro Mizuki. What an absolute legend.

What was your favorite song of his? There are so many to pick from. But the Mazinger Z OP has a little extra something.

If anyone is interested in gekiga and hardcore, awful or just rare 80/90s OVAs, please let me know. I've started a club with the goal of listing/organizing all of these titles, as well as adding to database the missing stuff.

Hey, what's up? Still going strong!

Anyone going to join that MAL VR thingy tomorrow? I'm going to try to check out some of the rooms, but I have no idea about the times of the events lol.

Ah yes, Aim for the Ace is a personal favorite, among the few 10/10 shows in my lenghty list. Hmm.. I'm kinda enjoying it now, but the show is dragging. The tall characters also don't add much to the real story, they are like fillers for an intended audience I can't understand much.. But yeah, I guess it will be a 7/10 here too.

It's not that serious of a drama, in fact I found it pretty hilarious at times because it goes so overboard trying to dish out some shock value, but it's all shoujo. As you've guessed it's not a completely finished and polished show, which is why I gave it a 7.

Still I thought it was pretty good. The visuals are unique of course and personally I can never get enough of the high voltage girls in a Dezaki show (I especially love Aim for the Ace). I liked Nanako, Tomoko and Mariko, but I didn't really get the tall tomboy characters. I'm not the intended audience though haha.

Anyone here watched 'Oniisama e...'? I started it but don't know if I should keep watching. I got it because of the heavy psychological trauma topics supposed to be adressed on it, also I loved Rose of Versailles from the same author. But... I hated the narrative style through the letter. Also some very forced things, and the pacing/building is too slow for me to be sure about anything. I checked the worst review on its page (the only bad review IIRC) and surprisingly was written by someone I know, and the person pointed out kinda everything I was afraid of about the series. Though if the suicides and abusive shit really gets to that hideous level, that's why I tried the show anyway. I just want to hear a reason to keep bothering with the show besides that, or it will feel just an edgy shocking meaningless yuri. Nothing wrong if it was an OVA or 12 episodes, but I already heard of most people saying the ending was crap and there's a random twist that turns all the previously abusive melodrama into something meaningless and leaves plenty of unsolved arcs through its 39 episodes!! Help :D

Thanks! I've added this one to my watchlist few days ago actually, but didn't know if I try to find the manga or just watch the anime. Osamu Tezuka in a way is the closest you can get in manga to classic japanese directors such as Akira Kurosawa.

mooncrypt, "Hidamari no Ki" is from 2000 year, but it's very good historical drama. https://myanimelist.net/anime/2694/Hidamari_no_Ki

Wow, I haven't watched Zanbot yet, sounds rad. I rated Daitarn a 9/10, so it must be really good - sorry, I barely remember each anime is what nowadays, but I recall being quite the opposite of the darker feel I'm just reading about Zanbot; was quite an humouristic show.

Do you guys know any good samurai/historical anime pre2000s to reccomend? It's a shame there are so many good manga and (live-action) movies with the theme but when it comes to anime, original series never deserve a 10/10, also most of the great historical manga were poorly adapted.

I'm currently at Maison Ikkoku's last season and I can't believe I took so long to try this show. At some point the misunderstandings and embarassing situations gets Larry David level. Was even thinking about how Yotsuya is basically japanese Kramer: invasive neighbour that gets into mc room all time and drink/eat his food, nobody knows what he does for living, always have a word on every subject and people can't trust him anything.

I've been watching Hayate no Gotoku! recently which is super fun. I miss that old school character design and madness. Im not sure if Hyatt is a reference to Excel Saga, but if you want to watch something epic, then Excel Saga is a show you need to add to your list.
