Oomuro-ke: Dear Sisters

I loved it right from the get-go. It's all about these little everyday situations that depict the Sisters' lives, offering a real soul-soothing experience. I've always been wary of spin-offs focusing on secondary comedic characters because they usually spell disaster. But this one's a notable exception. Unlike other "failed" attempts, this spin-off doesn't revolve around Sakurako. Instead, it takes us on a journey through the sisters' lives, sparing us from the fatigue of seeing Sakurako's over-the-top antics over and over again.

What sets this work apart is its focus on the iyashikei genre, a genre aimed at healing the soul with its tranquility and simplicity. Here, ... the quirks of the original work, Yuru Yuri, take a backseat, almost disappearing altogether, to make way for a serene and comforting experience. Following the lives of Onee-chan, Nadeshiko, and the imouto, Hanako-sama, is like taking a deep breath after a tiring day. It's an invitation to savor life's little moments, to unwind, and find peace in the mundane. All in all, this spin-off is a true embodiment of iyashikei at its finest.

One of the sweetest movie I've seen in 2024.

Oomuro-ke: Dear Sisters finally gives us a look at the Oomuro sisters, their daily lives and close bond together. I wish the movie were at least 2 hours long, 45 minutes just ain't enough. But for the short limited amount of time this movie was given, it did an excellent job of portraying the distinct personalities of the three sisters. The calm and mysterious big sister Nadeshiko, the responsible little Hanako and the ever-energetic Sakurako. It warms my heart just watching them living their life, doing simple things and hanging out with friends.

Overall, a great ... addtion to the beloved franchise Yuru Yuri. I couldn't wait to watch its sequel, Oomuro-ke: Dear Friends. And I'm sure it will be just as heart-warming as this.

My favorite moment in the post Doga Kobo Yuru Yuri series is that part from San Hai where it's nothing but 5 minutes of silence starring Rise in a Straw Millionaire type segment where she exchanges various goods for other goods. It's not very funny, especially considering how zany the series can get, but I still do enjoy it for how relaxing and how it provides a nice break in the middle of a chaotic wacky series. In that sense, Oomuro-ke serves basically the same purpose. It's not very funny, it's not very crazy, and it lacks a lot of elements that makes Yuru Yuri ... what it is, but that's okay. What you get is just iyashikei, or a more relaxed slice of life with minimal comedy. And to that effect, Oomuro-ke is a great watch. Temper your expectations, dim the lights, and enjoy 40 minutes of relaxing slice of life starring the brat and her two sisters.

A heartwarming and sweet movie!

As big big Sakurako fan this movie was like dream come true to me!
Like mentioned below Sakurako herself can be a very over the top and hectic characther! Good thing is this movie isn´t only about her but more of her family, the 3 sisters. I like how Sakurako remains her silly dummy energy but its not so overexatrated like in the first season of Yuru Yuri. While the original series can´t be beaten I think this movie brings such comfort and warmth that Yuru Yuri series has not been able to achive so far, at least not with Sakurako in ... my opinion. If Sakurako is your favorite characther or any of the 3 sisters then you are gonna have a blast! I do note that Id have loved to see more Himawari in here but it doesnt really take anything away from me that she wasnt since we got to see a lot of other lovely and new characthers who are all really cute!
I reccomend highly!

Have you ever cried over a medium because of how beautiful it was?

As a grown man, I couldn't stop crying over an anime that wasn't even sad.

Dear Sisters is a spin-off of the Yuru Yuri series which is based on pure slice-of-life in the; cute girls do cute things “CGDCT” in short setup.

In this movie we get to see the Oomuro sisters in their everyday life and their interactions in a cheerful and peaceful manner. I am sad to realize how unrecognized this genre is, just because people believe it is about cute girls doing cute things and nothing else. However, this ... is a misconception and I really hope someday more people will try this genre out and see for themselves how immerse and heart warming these little stories can be, just about girls everyday pleasant communions.

Dear Sisters, just as all of its kind this story is also straight forward character-driven, portraying intercourses between characters without any defined target in the story. As they have to carry the story by themselves, without any conflict. Maybe this was the reason that I felt it so emotionally human and pure. In such an extant that you not frequently feel or experience in real life. It still not about cuteness, but more of kindness and compassionate of how these characters by their pure interactions represented the moral values of these behaviors.

We all show love in different ways just as the Oomuro sisters, regardless their personalities are completely unalike, they are all alike in being funny, lovely, cute and caring towards each other.

Without any drama this movie was able to show us how warming siblinghood can be. It wasn’t sad, yet I still cried. Cried so many times over some girls doing simple everyday things in of course cute and lovely way. Still, cuteness and loveliness wasn’t the reason for me to cry.

What is so emotional about sisterhood and brotherhood or friendship?

Kindness, compassion, love.

Dear Sisters showed the diversity of these emotional relationships in a way that it felt exceptionally genuine and pure.

Sometimes you argue with your friend, sister or brother, but in that exact moment you feel regret. You feel not to argue and say “those words” you just want to move on and wish for tomorrow so she or he could “apologize”, as you didn’t want to be the first to apologize, but you also just want to hug or talk to her/him in the meantime.

We not always act true to our hearts.
Every single heartbeat feels hurting when we act unkindly as every single time we act with kindness the beat reaches our soul.

It must be real, as this movie was able to speak to my soul.

Dead Sisters is so much more than your average anime. As it depicted the variety of kindness, compassion, love and by their interactions showed us how important and special these feelings for our soul. Even though it was built solely on characters interactions. It delivered at such level that it is not only entertaining, but it was also able to provide higher quality content that no action, mystery, or shounen can even come close to.

On a final note, gratitude is due for Passione and Studio Lings for their stunning adaptation and for all the voice actors performances.

Absolutely beautiful, warming piece of soul-work that deserves much recognition. By that means I can wholly recommend to everyone!
