Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba Ii?

The young but feared sorcerer Zagan is a candidate to become a member of the 13 Archdemons—a group of the strongest sorcerers in the world—following the death of their eldest member, Marchosias. When attending the deceased Archdemon's estate auction, Zagan finds something he did not expect: love at first sight. The sorcerer impulsively spends all his money to take Nephelia, a rare elf slave, back to his castle. Given the girl's mysterious and troubling past, there is a lot for Zagan to uncover about his new companion.

However, Zagan's lack of experience with the unfamiliar feeling of love leads to many awkward moments between him and Nephelia, whom he calls by the nickname "Nephy." As the two grow closer and get more comfortable around each other, it becomes increasingly evident that Nephy's feelings might not be so different from Zagan's.

Preliminary (7/12 eps)

As someone who has stepped away from romance and cuteness in anime for the most part, allow me to share my thoughts on this series. For its intended genre, it is quite good, certainly worth a try. The animations are simple, decent, and consistent, which is all this particular show needs.

The protagonist embodies the classic "tough on the outside, good-natured on the inside" archetype, offering the best of both worlds. The cast, is straightforward and major characters have their own background and storylines. Although it may not be the most compelling narrative, it manages to remain entertaining in ways that'll surprise you.
Despite my personal ... distaste for the typical 'soft and cute,' I found a fine balance in the main waifu's personality. The other waifus in the story provide an interesting variety of personalities, keeping the show lively and humorous when it's not delving into serious moments.

Also, 'For' has been a pleasant addition to the cast, helping the protagonist learn from his past and discover new aspects of himself. I'm not wild about loli's but her presence in the story is certainly a 'W'. It also helps that she helps massively with the humorous angle.
While I won't delve deeply into the romance aspect, it's a bit slow-paced due to the hesitance/ nervousness of Zagan and Nephy, yet it's undeniably present.

My only criticism is that the show tends to over-explain characters' actions, underestimating the audience's intelligence. However, this is a common issue in anime.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (8/12 eps)

A 5.5 kind of a show. There's nothing especially bad about it, it's fine, but there's no real spark to it either. There's some degree of an illusion of depth to it with some tragic backstories sprinkled about and repeated (shock) betrayals which all somehow seem to work their way out, giving an illusion of progress. The creators evidentially got tired of trying to maintain the uncomfortable fatalism of the first few episodes and migrated to a slightly more upbeat but awkward dynamic. All very generic anime with fantasy characteristics really.

If you're looking for a power fantasy which has some of the aesthetics of misanthropy ... as dressing over a rather late blooming coming of age story about maladjusted but anime wholesome characters with lots of headpats then I guess you'd enjoy it... bit of a niche kink you've got there though. But hey I'm not judging.

All in, it's fine, if over done.

Preliminary (6/12 eps)

Okay, so it started meh, but I thought it might develop into power fantasy if nothing else. However, writers chose nothing else.

Story is kind of hard to spoil. He's a powerful mage and this show you get to see just how powerful. That's the story. Problem however lies in how they tried to portray main character which is simply socially inept idiot who is somehow genius only when it comes to magic. Common sense not so much.

From episode one forward everything is either a result of some plot convenience, his stupidity of combination of the two. This genius doesn't know how auctions works so gives ... all he has for a good piece of ass. Can't blame him much, girl is a gem, but still he can't be that horny. And things keep going like that. He just does the most stupid thing imaginable and then writers try to mask it as him being socially inept but caring. In reality it doesn't end up looking like that.

So these six episodes I've spent watching are waste of my life and energy. Writing this doubly so. But the hope is someone else will read this and decide it was a smart move not to repeat my mistakes, which is something main character is unable to do, despite being a genius. Someone should rewrite the summary to state "main character achieves everything, but still sleeps in his chair".
