Preliminary Spoiler

Preliminary (3/12 eps)
"Isekai Shikkaku" is a kind of parody of Isekai anime. The main character, who often contemplates suicide, is transported to another world. There, he continues his journey with the same dark intentions, seeking to find a girl he likes and die together.

Despite this seemingly generic premise, the anime offers more depth. Currently, only four episodes are out, so it might not seem very detailed, but by the end of the 12 episodes, you'll find it quite interesting. Trust me, there are unique twists that I can't reveal without spoiling the story.

The main character does redeem himself a bit as the story progresses. He has ...

Isekai Shikkaku got overshadowed this season, but make no mistake, this is the BEST fantasy show of Summer 2024 by far. It came out of seemingly nowhere and delivered an extremely refreshing take on the isekai genre with mature writing and themes, focus on characters rather than your usual defeat the demon lord or revenge plot and a unique MC for once who doesn’t rely on overpowered abilities to win his battles. The emphasis on helping people move past their trauma and return to their original world was such an interesting narrative decision that made for quite a few emotional moments that I cried for. ...

I'll keep this one short and sweet. In the turbid pool of formulaic soulless garbage that we call the isekai genre, Isekai Shikkaku stands out as an above average, entertaining, well made isekai that has its own interesting gimmick. The protagonist, Sensei, is a powerless, grumpy, suicidal nihilist who doesn't give a single fuck most of the time and never takes part in fighting directly, this single detail on its own sets it apart from most other isekais. Despite being powerless, he does command respect and is viewed as a threat solely due to his bizarre outlook on life, concerningly low self preservation instincts, and ...

This anime is not for those who are new to the isekai genre.🚨

The story follows a depressed author with suicidal tendencies who gets reincarnated into another world, where similar otherworlders hit by Truck-kun 🚛 try to live the lives they dreamed of.

Our author sensei, along with his ragtag party, unwittingly fixes that world and its people, which forms the basic synopsis.

At times, the anime has vibes reminiscent of "Mushoku Tensei", while at other moments, it feels more like "Konosuba".😲

Pros:
1. Solid storyline

Mixed Feelings
This anime is a bit tricky to evaluate. It offers moments of genuine intrigue, but the overall package feels uneven, weighed down by some shallow elements that limit its potential. At its core, the premise plays with the familiar “what if Isekai tropes, but the main character is… different?” The protagonist, Sensei, a clear nod to Osamu Dazai, is thrust into the standard Isekai setup, summoned to another world and tasked with defeating the demon king. But unlike the typical hero, Sensei rejects the call to adventure, preferring instead to search for his lover Sacchan and chronicle the tragedies of those around him. This twist ...

first time write a review for this anime. all I have to see is a good one. there are many mid or shit isekai but this is is actually good. the mc is not overpower is people calling him sensei make sense since he actually help some of the realising stuff about them and people around them.
this show combines the comedic part with the serious part very well.

Characters: they are nice made but there is still fan service like most anime in the last years.
Score: 7/10
MC: this man just want to die :)))) ...

Preliminary (3/12 eps)
I feel like I don't know enough about Japanese culture to properly enjoy this anime.

So, in the first half of the 20th century, a suicidal author (based on real-life figure Osamu Dazai) gets isekai'ed just as he and his lover are about to commit double suicide. In this other world he is told that he's one of dozens of Earthlings summoned there supposedly to save that world from the demon lord. He is not interested in that whatsoever, only wanting to find his lover here in this new world so they can finish their double suicide pact together. And so with the first two ...

Preliminary (3/12 eps)
For such a straightforward anime with a weak main character, it's surprisingly good. It doesn't dive deep or get too complex, but it brings something totally fresh to the isekai table that you just don't see often.

It takes a bold step away from the typical isekai formula; where there are no overpowered characters here, no intricate magic systems, and no kingdoms to save. Instead, what "Isekai Shikkaku" offers is a unique slice of life perspective that just feels earnest.

What's most interesting about this anime is its ability to hold the audience's attention without relying on common tropes, but simple fresh humor. The protagonist isn't ...

Preliminary (11/12 eps)
I will say right away, the starting of this anime isn't easy to get into the story, it starts getting more interesting the longer you watch which is why I fully understand the non-recommended people who've only watched 3 episodes then given up.

I'm not even going to write a full in-depth review, all I will say is, apart from the humour, there are actually emotional moments in the later episodes and psychological moments in this series that make you think. Are they somewhat cliche, yes, I won't even try to deny that. But it is a fun take on isekai that I haven't seen before ...

Maaaan what a banger of a show. If you're like me, you would have been both intrigued by the premise but also turned off because the concept of a suicidal main character in an isekai doesn't seem like much of a fun experience....and you and I would both be VERY wrong. The comedy hits every time, the animation is smooth and very appealing for the eyes, and the story is so damn good for an isekai it's actually insane. The backstories of the other worlders, the dialogue with Sensei and the others, the character development for the main character's crew, it all fits in so ...

Preliminary (11/12 eps)
It's almost unfortunate how mediocre the first few episodes are, the later half of the season gets some pretty great writing.

No Longer Allowed in Another World is about a suicidal protagonist based on a real life author, who gets transported to another world in a double-suicide, transporting both him and his partner to this world.

The first few episodes are about as "Isekai" as they get, I only stayed around because a protagonist who tries to kill himself several times an episode is an interesting concept, an enemy will die from poisoning by biting the protagonist because the protagonist overdoses on sedatives, he'll always unintentionally find ...

Isekai parody stories, much like isekai reincarnation stories themselves, are very hit-or-miss with me. I’m a fan of Isekai Ojisan, for example, but Konosuba didn’t really appeal to me at all despite its mainstream popularity. Isekai Shikkaku is another such isekai parody manga series adaptation from AtelierPontdarc, the studio best known for adapting Isekai Ojisan. However, despite coming from the same studio, the same director, and having a somewhat similar brand of humor, I feel that Isekai Shikkaku has some fatal flaws that prevent it from hitting the same way as Ojisan.

This series follows the adventures of real-life writer Osamu Dazai (whose work I’ve unfortunately ...

Preliminary (4/12 eps)
I don't recommend this and i don't see how anyone else would enjoy it tbh. I really tried, but suicide is not a funny topic, and I didn't find anything fun or comedic about this anime. I thought it would be fun since they're making fun of the Isekai genre and truck-kun, but no. The overly sexualized girls don't help much either. What a waste! especially since the main dude is hot and the story actually had potential.

I dropped bungo stray dogs for the exact same reason. I donno why authors think that a character constantly trying to die is supposed to be funny?

First of all it is different and it is good, so basically it satisfies 2 most important aspects for any work of art.
It might not be for everyone, but the basic theme can be understood from short summary/intro to this anime. If you are bored MC's that are more or less identical or isekai story lines that does not bring anything new to the table - this might interested you. Though this might be a bit niche due to MC's character, but you should be able to tell from description or first episode if it is for you or not.
One more thing - dominant genre ...

A non-thorough review on No Longer Allowed

I gave this anime a chance because I didn't have much to watch this season (Fall 2024 is stacked though), but I would say I enjoyed it. The writing was not particularly elaborate or impressive, but Sensei, the MC, has a comically depressed and suicidal nature which I find to be a nice breath of fresh air. As an author (more like a journalist), he does occasionally find motivation to study people who seem interesting, or to call people out for bullsh*t.

To be very blunt, there is not much to praise the anime for, and I'm sure many ...

Review for a specific episode (Episode 8)

Episode 8 of the anime really stands out more than the other story our protagonist encountered in his journey. One of many episodes on any anime I've watched that really showcase a great storytelling technique with the exposition of the episode itself.

The story on Episode 8 was executed really good. Introduced the issue at the town of Torineko along with a new character(s): Yamada and Esche, that happens to be at the center of the premise.
Perfectly shown the story of what heroes meant and the 2 sides of the coin.
Really enforces what Dazai said regarding being righteous ...

Your Typical Isekai is a weak MC from a normal world, gains powers, and becomes an OP hero in a fantasy world.

Isekai Shikkaku takes a rather unique route.

This dude wants to die. A very melodramatic writer who wants to kill himself in the real world ends up in this fantasy world where he still craves death. But your cliche troupe of women followers want him to live!

I would say this anime is a nice change of pace from your typical animes; it has funny moments and some dragging points. Beyond the main preface, the other fun part is that this is a world ...

This is basically the Isekai / Fantasy version of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
A depressed writer almost achieves his dream of committing double suicide with his lover Sacchan, when they're both hit by a truck and sent to another world. Sensei is welcomed as a hero who would save the world from the dark lord - but he is extremely weak without any cheat powers, and furthermore, he has no intention of saving anyone. His only goal is to find Sacchan, who, presumably ended up somewhere else, and finish up their original suicide plan, though he wouldn't mind it even if he dies before finding her.
Furthermore, it ...

Isekai Shikkaku has a very bold plot with an anti-hero to top it off. First of all, I would like to tell you that this was inspired in the story "Ningen Shikkaku" by Dazai Osamu - this author committed a double suicide after writting this story. If you don't know the reference, then the anime seems very weird in the beginning... But if you know, then it will seem extra awesome! You can watch Ningen Shikkaku animated on the anime "Aoi Bungaku".

Now, our main character "Sensei" is a classic character from japanese literature, he's the post-war depressive bohemian author that is thrown into an isekai ...

I saw that anime on 11-12/03/25; honestly, it is one of the strangest Isekai that I have ever known. The MC, constantly searching for suicide, finds himself in the battle between demons and evil forces, without having any overpowered magic or legendary weapon. The whole journey is exciting to witness him battle against these threats with sheer will and strategy.

In this anime, you will find many small/adventure stories that the MC with his friends will solve and build the story line for Season 1; at the end of the season, it gives a hook for Season 2 but not in a very normal way - ...
