This one is a mixed bag for me. On one hand it surely didn’t follow the usual isekai routine with a bland MC that has zero traits and personality, on the other - it still plays really safe and doesn’t stand out too much. Now let me give you a bit more details.
World/story. An isekai world mass imported unhappy broken people to wage their war only to find out that unhappy broken people can easily go rogue, so someone now needs to solve this new problem. I will not lie that while the whole mass transportation isn’t a new concept, a twist with rogue heroes

I feel like I don't know enough about Japanese culture to properly enjoy this anime.
So, in the first half of the 20th century, a suicidal author (based on real-life figure Osamu Dazai) gets isekai'ed just as he and his lover are about to commit double suicide. In this other world he is told that he's one of dozens of Earthlings summoned there supposedly to save that world from the demon lord. He is not interested in that whatsoever, only wanting to find his lover here in this new world so they can finish their double suicide pact together. And so with the first two ... Sep 24, 2024
This is a "what if a 90s depressed & suicidal grunge alt-rock artist (Kurt Cobain) was turned into an early 1900s anime protagonist", which isn't a bad thing.
"No Longer Allowed in Another World" is a really good anime with just a very slow start. The first few episodes take their merry time to speed up, but once the pace actually speeds up, it gets much better to watch. Lets start with whats good: 1. The Animation: The animation is very pleasing to the eyes and doesn't have jank CGI like some animes that were released this season. Really well produced and has very crisp animation. 2. The Characters: At first ... Sep 27, 2024
This anime is a bit tricky to evaluate. It offers moments of genuine intrigue, but the overall package feels uneven, weighed down by some shallow elements that limit its potential. At its core, the premise plays with the familiar “what if Isekai tropes, but the main character is… different?” The protagonist, Sensei, a clear nod to Osamu Dazai, is thrust into the standard Isekai setup, summoned to another world and tasked with defeating the demon king. But unlike the typical hero, Sensei rejects the call to adventure, preferring instead to search for his lover Sacchan and chronicle the tragedies of those around him. This twist

'No Longer Allowed in Another World' appears to be another generic isekai, but it's more than that. It's a parody of the isekai genre.
§ Overview The anime begins with Sensei, which is presumably Dazai Osamu, who is about to have a double suicide with his lover Sacchan. But before he can do so, truck-kun takes him to another world. He was summoned to defeat the evil lord, who unknown at that time was defeated earlier, but he would none of that. All he wants is to find Sacchan. Later on, he learns that other worlders like Sensei are wreaking havoc and are worse than the evil ... Oct 7, 2024
The version of Dazai Osamu in this anime is really cute. Although he has the attribute of wanting to end his life, he’s quite awkward about it. When he’s truly needed, he acts like a real teacher, guiding everyone and providing help. This makes him one of the more interesting interpretations of Dazai among the many variations. The comedic elements of the story dilute his inherent sense of despair and gloom, enhancing its overall readability. Other characters feel a bit generic, but overall, it's a smooth story. I read the subsequent manga plot on mangajikan.com, and the main highlights of the anime compared to the

Eh.
I picked this up because I was fascinated by the decision to put Dazai Osamu into an isekai anime. I'm a big fan of his works (listen, I literally named my cat after him. I have a Dazai Osamu jr in my home) but I'm a little picky about depictions of him (whatever Bungo Stray Dogs has going on is not my jam). The first few episodes made me nearly cry laughing. The character design, the way he carries himself, and the way he speaks really feels like the author is deeply, deeply invested in this man's life story. The concept itself is hilarious ... A non-thorough review on No Longer Allowed
I gave this anime a chance because I didn't have much to watch this season (Fall 2024 is stacked though), but I would say I enjoyed it. The writing was not particularly elaborate or impressive, but Sensei, the MC, has a comically depressed and suicidal nature which I find to be a nice breath of fresh air. As an author (more like a journalist), he does occasionally find motivation to study people who seem interesting, or to call people out for bullsh*t. To be very blunt, there is not much to praise the anime for, and I'm sure many ... Sep 29, 2024
From the beginning of the episode to episode 5, this anime might be interesting enough to watch.
The comedy is good, and it's not boring to watch, but not for the next episode! The initial concept was about an MC who wanted to commit suicide, but the concept was suddenly discarded, why did this happen? Even though the comedy when he wanted to commit suicide was quite good, the longer the suicidal intention just disappeared. Reason for wanting to commit double suicide with Sachan? I don't think so, because I don't see Sensei actually wanting to do that at all! The storyline increasingly deviates from the initial ... Oct 1, 2024
**Isekai Shikkaku (No longer allowed in another world) **
An interesting if controversial premise that like many isekai of this style fails to fully capitalize upon it. However, It happens to be a concept that personally appeals to me quite a bit and it doesn’t fall flat on its face like so many of its compatriots. It manages to at certain points tell a somewhat poignant story that it blends with dark comedy even if other times one portion overpowers the other leading to disaster. For this reason I am rating Isekai Shikkaku as a 7/10 on the anime scale. The comedy in this anime ... Nov 16, 2024
Isekai parody stories, much like isekai reincarnation stories themselves, are very hit-or-miss with me. I’m a fan of Isekai Ojisan, for example, but Konosuba didn’t really appeal to me at all despite its mainstream popularity. Isekai Shikkaku is another such isekai parody manga series adaptation from AtelierPontdarc, the studio best known for adapting Isekai Ojisan. However, despite coming from the same studio, the same director, and having a somewhat similar brand of humor, I feel that Isekai Shikkaku has some fatal flaws that prevent it from hitting the same way as Ojisan.
This series follows the adventures of real-life writer Osamu Dazai (whose work I’ve unfortunately ... Oct 4, 2024
Okay look this isn't going to be sugar coated it. It has predictable writing, predictable tropes, the pacing is garbage, characters that are a dime a dozen minus the main character. The writing is basically trash and the plot could use a lot of work. That being said; I only recommend this if you like the humor with him wanting to kill himself and him actively trying to do so.
It's the anime equivalent of MR. Magoo If you can look past that; I only really like this for the dark humor, everything else about this is completely trash to me. This has a lot of jokes about ... Oct 6, 2024
Isekai Shikkaku takes a different angle on the standard isekai in an attempt to stay fresh in a genre that is plagued by staleness. I think it has an interesting concept with a MC who wants to die, has no interest in saving the word, and stubbornly upholds their basic personal ideals of being a self-destructive, depressed author. But as far as putting everything together to create an interesting and enjoyable story thing fell a bit flat. Also the pacing on this show both across the season and even within episodes seems to struggle at times.
The whole concept of the MC being suicidal is ... Sep 15, 2024
Isekai Shikkaku offers a fresh take on the overdone "Hero in Another World" premise, but it comes with its own set of oddities. While it’s far from the worst in the Isekai genre, it grapples with some questionable narrative choices that can be hard to overlook. The main theme of suicidal tendencies is a heavy one, and while it may resonate with some viewers, it could alienate others who find it too dark or out of place in an Isekai context.
One of the major issues lies in the protagonist's motivations. We're told he's suicidal, with no real attachment to life, yet he still manages to ... Sep 26, 2024
Why do they keep basing anime characters on Osamu Dazai? Is this a psyop to make me want to pick up No Longer Human?
Anyway, this anime isn’t what I expected. I was hoping for a comedy isekai that would subvert expectations, but alas, that’s not exactly what we got. What does this isekai do differently? - Have a protagonist that comedically wishes to unalive himself What does it not do differently? - Everything else You kind of already know where it’s going to go from the start, which is why this was perfect to watch in the background, even if you’re watching with subtitles. Its ... Sep 17, 2024
I really wanted to like this anti-Isekai story, especially within an oversaturated Isekai power fantasy market. But one of its main selling points is humor. However, when you watch many comedy specials, it's hard to laugh at jokes from other mediums because you realize how unfunny they are. Maybe a legit stand-up comic could make this work in a comedy special, but not as a manga/anime. Or maybe the mangaka needed to go to several live stand-up shows, like "Kill Tony," bomb several times before finally finding that groove. THEN, they could make "No Longer Allowed In Another World."
It is moments like these where I ... Aug 10, 2024
Everything was good except the MC. hes was totally fake. here some point why hes so fake
1. keep telling wanna die but some plot keep him alive. meanwhile killing yourself was actually easy. some people struggling to keep alive. 2. just found reason to keep alive yet clearly he broke in less one eps 3. he has no effort to anything. his promise, his words, his action. 4. hes talking too much for someone who wanna die. from i see here the author just trying to satire the the isekai trend. he tougth a negative person is so cool but actually is just so cringe to see how he ... Trash ecchi isekai and theres nothing else to it. If you like trash isekai and overly sexualized characters this is for you. Characters lack depth and motives. There are no consequences for actions and the characters lack communication skills. The women are sexualized and dumb yet the show isnt labled as ecchi? Most of the shading and detail work goes into the boobs tummy and hips of the women. If you are a woman then avoid this show. It left an uneasy feeling with me. The MC is just some depressed codependent loser who cant achieve his own goals. The show is extremely predictable full
