Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!

Childhood friends Tomo Aizawa and Junichirou "Jun" Kubota do everything together, whether it be training or just enjoying a fun day out. Anyone would think that these two are best friends for life. The only issue is that the tomboyish Tomo is in love with Jun, but he regards her like a brother.

At the start of their first year of high school, Tomo confesses her feelings to Jun. However, her rough mannerisms and lack of hesitance to throw a punch do nothing to sway Jun's heart. Realizing that he will remain indifferent to her affections unless she does something about it, Tomo must find a way to knock some sense into Jun and open his eyes to what is right in front of him.

Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! 💗 (aka Pure Chaos Done Right)

This anime is proof that simple done right hits harder than drama done wrong.

Tomo is an absolute menace in the best way possible. A tomboy who’s strong, loud, honest, and trying her hardest to be seen as a girl by the one guy who treats her like his gym bro. And somehow, that struggle is both hilarious and weirdly relatable.

Jun isn’t dumb he’s just painfully dense in the most realistic way. He doesn’t ignore Tomo’s feelings out of malice. He just genuinely doesn’t know how to process the fact that the person he roughhouses with is also ... the person making his heart act up. It’s frustrating, but in a soft, human way.

And the little details? That’s where this anime shines.
Tomo trying to act “girly” and immediately short-circuiting.
Jun unconsciously protecting her without realizing why.
Those awkward pauses where neither of them knows what to say, but everything is being said anyway.

Misuzu and Carol absolutely elevate the show. One is pure calculated chaos, the other is sugar-powered unpredictability. Every scene they’re in feels alive, like the writers were having fun instead of dragging things out.

Most importantly, this anime respects your time. No endless baiting. No artificial drama. Just steady progress, honest feelings, and a romance that actually moves forward.

Final verdict: Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! is cute without being cringe, funny without being loud, and romantic without being exhausting. It’s the kind of anime that leaves you smiling instead of yelling at your screen.

Sometimes, love isn’t complicated, it’s just two idiots learning how to see each other properly.

Mixed Feelings

This anime presents a decent enough premise alongside a gimmick . But that's all it does with the gimmick. Presents it as an what if.

This whole premise was only present in the flashbacks, since by the time the actual story of the show begins, dude's already aware Tomo's a girl. And while it made sense in the past, since she was still a kid and she acted that way, later on there's absolutely no possible way you can mistake her a for a dude. Of course one could make a case that the title also reflects Tomo's insecurities or something,but again, those are really far-fetched. ... The characters... aren't cardboards but they aren't that intresting either.

Now, this show is marketed as a Romance Comedy. It rather fails to deliver on both ends. The comedy is basically 90% physical violence or threats of violence. And in this case, it really isn't amusing in the least. The romance? Well ,it's almost just as weak. I mean, if you think fistfighting your significant other is considered filtring and romantic... You need help. It would've made more sense if the setting was medieval or a different society and all,but not in our world. And then... just like another gimmicky title , the end-game focuses too much on something that isn't any of what was advertised,and that's family Figh club in this case. A tad more intresting then stundent council the anime but still not far . Don't get me wrong, they had a decent budget and the fight scenes don't look half-bad , but that's not what we were promised now was it.

Not a bad watch all things considered, but a dissapointing one .

In general, is a forgettable anime. Typical romantic comedy without any difference from other regular shows of the same genre, the only difference with them is the plot of "a really strong tomboy as main char" and all the jokes will be around that idea. The story is left with an open end, it won't get a second season and nobody will care about that.

This anime passes without trouble or fanfare, not being good or bad, simply mediocre. It's like popcorn without salt, you can eat it but it won't taste at all.

Regular art and animation, regular characters, regular plots. If you enjoy most of ... the animes from this genre you probably will enjoy it, maybe you will even love it. If you where looking for something better than the average this won't be your show.
